Fault-tolerance and self-organization are critical properties in modern distributed systems. Self-stabilization is a class of fault-tolerant distributed algorithms which has the ability to recover from any kind and any finite number of transient faults and topology changes. In this article, we propose a self-stabilizing distributed algorithm for the 1-MIS problem under the unfair central daemon assuming the distance-3 model. Here, in the distance-3 model, each process can refer to the values of local variables of processes within three hops. Intuitively speaking, the 1-MIS problem is a variant of the maximal independent set (MIS) problem with improved local optimizations. The time complexity (convergence time) of our algorithm is (Formula presented.) steps and the space complexity is (Formula presented.) bits, where (Formula presented.) is the number of processes. Finally, we extend the notion of 1-MIS to (Formula presented.) -MIS for each nonnegative integer (Formula presented.), and compare the set sizes of (Formula presented.) -MIS ((Formula presented.)) and the maximum independent set. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Hydrogen is a highly promising energy carrier because of its renewable and clean qualities. Among the different methods for H2production, photoelectrocatalysis（PEC） water splitting has garnered significant interest, thanks to the abundant and perennial solar energy. Single-atom catalysts（SACs）, which feature well-distributed atoms anchored on supports, have gained great attention in PEC water splitting for their unique advantages in overcoming the limitations of conventional PEC ***, we comprehensively review SAC-incorporated photoelectrocatalysts for efficient PEC water splitting. We begin by highlighting the benefits of SACs in improving charge transfer, catalytic selectivity, and catalytic activity, which address the limitations of conventional PEC reactions. Next, we provide a comprehensive overview of established synthetic techniques for optimizing the properties of SACs, along with modern characterization methods to confirm their unique structures. Finally, we discuss the challenges and future directions in basic research and advancements, providing insights and guidance for this developing field.

This article covers the design, implementation, mathematical modelling, and control of a multivariable, underactuated, low-cost, three-degrees-of-freedom experimental helicopter system (namely a 3-DOF helicopter). The system is considered an essential benchmark for the development and evaluation of control algorithms and identification methods as it mimics real helicopters and UAVs. The system is multivariable and difficult to control due to its underactuation characteristics. In addition, it presents further challenges in modelling and control analysis in terms of high nonlinearity, coupling, uncertainty, and unmodeled dynamics. In this scene, the system is designed, developed, and operated virtually in SolidWorks using the necessary hardware and software. A new accurate multivariable coupled nonlinear mathematical model is derived and proposed. The model takes into account the complex dynamics and interactions between the system components, providing a more comprehensive representation of the real system compared to previous models. System parameters are then identified using the Sum of the Square Error (SSE) algorithm, and the mathematical model is compared to the practical results in many different scenarios via Simulink. Experimental tests confirmed the mathematical model and robust performance of the implemented experimental 3-DOF helicopter system, as well as the ability of the proposed controller to stabilize the helicopter and track different trajectories in the presence of uncertainties and cross-coupling effects. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper proposes a prediction-based scaling and placement of service function chains (SFCs) to improve service level agreement (SLA) and reduce operation cost. We used a variant of recurrent neural network (RNN) called gated recurrent unit (GRU) for resource demand prediction. Then, considering these predictions, we built an intuitive scale in/out algorithm. We also developed an algorithm that applies Q-Learning on Edge computing environment (EdgeQL) to place these scaled-out VNFs in appropriate locations. The integrated algorithm that combines prediction, scaling, and placement are called RNN-EdgeQL. RNN-EdgeQL (v2) is further improved to achieve application agnostic group level elasticity in the chain, independent of applications installed on the VNFs. We tested our algorithm on two realistic temporal dynamic load models including Internet traffic (Abilene) and an application specific traffic (Wiki) on an OpenStack testbed. The contribution of this article is threefold. First, prediction model prepares the target SFC for the upcoming load. Second, an application agnostic characteristics of the algorithm achieves the group-level elasticity in SFC. Finally, the EdgeQL placement model minimizes the end-to-end path of an SFC in multi-access edge computing (MEC) environment. As a result, RNN-EdgeQL (v2) gives the lowest overall latency, lowest SLA violations, and lowest VNFs requirement, compared to RNN-EdgeQL (v1) and Threshold-Openstack default placement. © 2022 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Emotion recognition can help human-computer interactions by enabling systems to respond empathetically and adapt to users' emotional conditions. This capability improves user experience, supporting the development of a more intuitive and emotionally responsive communication system. This study analyzes a bimodal approach based on gender (male and female) to recognize emotions without contextual information in dialogue analysis. Utilizing the Multimodal EmoryNLP dataset extracted from the TV series Friends with acted speech, we focused on four primary emotions: Angry, Neutral, Joy, and Scared. The model used in this study for text classification is RoBERTa, and wav2vec 2.0 is used for audio feature extraction with the Bi-LSTM model for classification. The experiment results using weighted F1-score reveal that data augmentation enhanced the performance of analyzing the original dataset from 0.46% to 0.52% and the male dataset from 0.43% to 0.51 %. In comparison, the female dataset remained consistent at 0.46%. The weighted F1-score and Unweighted Averaged Recall (UAR) from the male dataset are higher, 51 % and 48%, respectively, than those from the female dataset, 46% and 47%, respectively. Gender-based analysis indicated that male and female datasets exhibited distinct performance patterns, highlighting variations in emotional expression and recognition between genders. These findings underscore the effectiveness of multimodal strategies in emotion recognition and suggest that gender-specific factors play a significant role in enhancing classification performance. While these results highlight performance trends, further validation through repeated trials and statistical analyses could provide stronger generalizations and insights into gender-based differences. © 2024 IEEE.

Electrodermal activity (EDA) is a general term for all electrical phenomena occurring on the skin, both passive and active. EDA measurements are used by researchers to measure levels of stress, emotion, mental strain, and so on. Measuring human stress levels, emotions, and mental strain are generally associated with the skin conductance response. The function GSR sensor is not only used to read people's psychology but also can be used as a pain sensor used to read the degree of pain in the skin. This pilot study uses sample data from ***. The *** data is galvanic skin response sensor data. The output of this sensor is the conductivity value that occurs in the skin. The data obtained from *** will be extracted using the mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, RMS, skewness, and peak-to-peak characteristics. The extracted functions are selected using the forward selection method. The results of the feature selection are three features with an accuracy percentage greater than 50%, namely the mean feature, the RMS feature, and the skewness feature. The machine learning models used are bagged tree, SVM, and K-NN models. Of the three models used, the bagged tree model has the highest accuracy rate, at 98.05%, with an F1 score is 0.9807. The KNN model with k=10 has the lowest level of accuracy compared to other models, at 96.75%. © 2023 IEEE.

Universities can employ information technology as one means of achieving their goals and objectives. Universities can get advantages from information technology, such as effective resource management and information management for decision-making. The campus requires an enterprise architecture in order to design, manage, and coordinate information technology infrastructure, applications, and processes strategically and thoroughly. The adoption of enterprise information system architecture (EA) is also intended to improve the quality of services provided to internal and external stakeholders. In this case, Enterprise Architecture can help an organization to match its information technology resources with business processes and strategies to achieve their goals. This research was conducted using TOGAF ADM, also known as the Open Group Architecture Framework Architecture Development Method. Virtualization technologies are still growing bigger and faster. Despite the greatness of its advancement, the costume industry is still very accessible when it comes to real trials. Off-the-shelf stuff are inadequate details for the desired individual to assess its in-depth utility for each garment trying on for a second, including custom stuff are much harder to try out right away. To this end, 2D image-based 3D reconstruction inclusive of touchable-virtualized space is accessible easier to stuff details for mans' decision making in purchasing. We establish the overall end-to-end pipeline from reconstruction until visualization for one instance to be triable on its stuff for a moment. As an expectation, our proposed approach can bring objects into the experimental area and use them immediately without any obstacle. © 2023 IEEE.

Genetic algorithms become widely used in various optimization as a nature-inspired algorithm. This biological-based algorithm includes three genetic operators: selection, crossover or recombination, and mutation. In this study, the genetic operator processed neural network parameters, including the weight and bias. Three-ray sensors with different directions input data into the neural network. We applied the method to autonomous boats for pathfinding responding to dynamic environment challenges. Generally, autonomous boats face difficulty in path-finding in dynamic environments. To evaluate the method, we experimented with the scenario of the static and dynamic environment (with wave surface) in a three-dimensional simulation platform. The hyperparameter of layer number and mutation rate variation were used. The results showed that the method was useful in pathfinding in static and dynamic environments. © 2023 IEEE.
