The synergistic effect of Fe3O4/g-C3N4 for persulfate activation in sulfate radical photo-Fenton

The Fe3O4/g-C3N4 composite has been successfully synthesized using coprecipitation method. The light absorption capabilities of g-C3N4 and Fe3O4 demonstrate synergistic effect in activating persulfate (PS). This synergistic effect occurs at Fe3O4 loading of 22–35 mass%, which has the effectiveness of hole-electron separation. The Fe−N coordination bonds were present, reflecting the interfacial chemical interactions between g-C3N4 and Fe3O4. The PS-activated Fe3O4/g-C3N4 system can completely degrade methyl orange (MO) in 15 min under visible light illumination (λ > 420 nm). Radical scavenging experiments show that SO4•−, •OH, •O2−, and h+ play a role in the degradation of organic pollutants. Other organic pollutants, such as methylene blue, rhodamine B, crystal violet, and phenol were also successfully degraded, indicating that this system has strong non-selective oxidative capabilities. Therefore, the Fe3O4/g-C3N4/PS system has high photocatalytic activity, high magnetic properties and stability, and potential for application in the water treatment of organic pollutants. © 2025 The Authors

In this study, we investigate the role of bulk viscosity in f(Q, T) gravity in explaining late-time cosmic acceleration. This model, an extension of symmetric teleparallel gravity, introduces viscosity into cosmic matter dynamics for a more realistic representation. Specifically, we consider the linear form of f(Q, T) = αQ+ βT, where α and β are free model parameters. To assess the model, we derive its exact solution and use Hubble parameter H(z) data and Pantheon + SNe Ia data for parameter estimation. We employ the χ2 minimization technique alongside the MCMC random sampling method to determine the best-fit parameters. Then, we analyze the behavior of key cosmological parameters, including the deceleration parameter, bulk viscous matter-dominated universe density, effective pressure, and the effective EoS parameter, accounting for the viscous type fluid. We observe a transition in the deceleration parameter from a positive (decelerating) to a negative (accelerating) phase at transition redshift zt. The matter density shows the expected positive behavior, while the pressure, influenced by viscosity, exhibits negative behavior, indicative of accelerating expansion. Furthermore, we investigate the energy conditions and find that while the NEC and DEC meet positivity criteria, the SEC is violated in the present and future epochs. The Om(z) diagnostic suggests that our model aligns with quintessence behavior. Finally, our f(Q, T) cosmological model, incorporating bulk viscosity effects, provides a compelling explanation for late-time cosmic behavior, consistent with observational data. Recently, Evolutionary Multiobjective Multitask optimization (EMMO) was proposed as a new research topic in the field of Evolutionary Multiobjective optimization (EMO). In contrast to conventional EMO algorithms, EMMO algorithms solve multiple multiobjective optimization problems (multiple tasks) in their single run. Most EMMO algorithms have the same number of populations as the number of tasks to be solved simultaneously, and each population corresponds to a different task. The main feature of EMMO algorithms is that offspring solutions are generated by not only intra-task crossover but also inter-task crossover. Local mating in intra-task crossover improves the search performance of EMO algorithms that use uniformly distributed weight vectors during a search, such as MOEA/D. Therefore, local mating in inter-task crossover is a promising idea for EMMO algorithms. In this paper, we propose a simple extension of MOEA/D for EMMO algorithms and a local mating method in inter-task crossover based on uniformly distributed weight vectors. Through computational experiments, we examine the effects of local mating in inter-task crossover on the search performance of the proposed algorithm. Experimental results show that the local mating improves the search performance of the proposed algorithm.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) leads to major brain anatomopathological damages underlined by neuroinflammation, oxidative stress and progressive neurodegeneration, ultimately leading to motor and cognitive deterioration. The multiple pathological events resulting from TBI can be addressed not by a single therapeutic approach, but rather by a synergistic biotherapy capable of activating a complementary set of signalling pathways and providing synergistic neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and neurorestorative activities. Human platelet lysate might fulfil these requirements as it is composed of a plethora of biomolecules readily accessible as a TBI *** the present study, we tested the therapeutic potential of human platelet lysate usingin vitro and in vivomodels of TBI. We first prepared and characterized platelet lysate from clinical-grade human platelet concentrates. Platelets were pelletized, lysed by three freeze-thaw cycles, and centrifuged. The supernatant was purified by 56°C 30 min heat treatment and spun to obtain the heat-treated platelet pellet lysate that was characterized by ELISA and proteomic analyses. Two mouse models were used to investigate platelet lysate neuroprotective potential. The injury was induced by an in-house manual controlled scratching of the animals’ cortex or by controlled cortical impact injury. The platelet lysate treatment was performed by topical application of 60 µl in the lesioned area, followed by daily 60 µl intranasal administration from Day 1 to 6 *** lysate proteomics identified over 1000 proteins including growth factors, neurotrophins, and antioxidants. ELISA detected several neurotrophic and angiogenic factors at ∼1–50 ng/ml levels. We demonstrate, using two mouse models of TBI, that topical application and intranasal platelet lysate consistently improved mouse motor function in the beam and rotarod tests, mitigated cortical neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress in the injury a

Metaverse is a virtual platform that uses extended reality technologies, i.e. augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, 3D graphics, and other emerging technologies to allow real-time interactions and experiences in ways that are not possible in the physical world. Companies have begun to notice the impact of the metaverse and how it may help maximize profits. The purpose of this paper is to offer perspectives on several important areas, i.e. marketing, tourism, manufacturing, operations management, education, the retailing industry, banking services, healthcare, and human resource management that are likely to be impacted by the adoption and use of a metaverse. Each includes an overview, opportunities, challenges, and a potential research agenda.

We propose a unified perspective on two sets of objects that usually arise in the study of bipartite field theories. Each of the sets consists of a polytope, or equivalently a toric Calabi-Yau, and a quiver theory. We refer to the two sets of objects as original and twin. In the simplest cases, the two sides of the correspondence are connected by the graph operation known as untwisting. The democratic treatment that we advocate raises new questions regarding the connections between these objects, some of which we explore. With this motivation in mind, we establish a correspondence between the mutations of the original polytope and the twin quiver. This leads us to propose that non-toric twin quivers are naturally associated to generalized toric polygons (GTPs) and we explore various aspects of this idea. Supporting evidence includes global symmetries, the ability of twin quivers to encode the generalized s-rule, and the connection between the mutations of polytopes and of configurations of webs of 5-branes suspended from 7-branes. We introduce three methods for constructing twin quivers for GTPs. We also investigate the connection between twin quivers obtained using different toric phases. Twin quivers provide a powerful new perspective on GTPs. The ideas presented in this paper may represent a step towards the generalization of brane tilings to GTPs. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. In today's society, digital signage is widely used in various places such as commercial facilities and train stations. Most digital signages use a liquid crystal display or LED panel. One of the advantages of digital signage is the ability to dynamically change the content of the advertisement. However, the method of change is not due to the viewer's intention, but rather to elapsed time to show, and it is merely a sequential display of static advertisements. In this study, we propose and implement a non-contact interactive digital signage system using a web camera that allows users to change the content according to their face orientation. In the implementation, we use OpenCV for showing the content and image processing, and the machine learning library, named dlib, is used for detecting user's face and identifying its orientation. The proposed system changes the layout and enlarges the content in which the user is interested. The user does not need to wear any device and to do any special action. Furthermore, the proposed system offers an intuitive interaction manner to the user. In this paper, some experimental designs are also described.

Streptococcus iniae (S. iniae) has become an important aquatic pathogen to cause serious streptococcosis outbreaks in cultured fish species, thus resulting in great economic losses in the worldwide aquaculture industry. Although vaccination has been so far an effective strategy to alleviate the threats of streptococcosis, antigenic variations displayed by different strains/isolates of S. iniae have brought about a severe challenge in the vaccine development. In the present study, three local S. iniae isolates, MML SI-007, MML SI-018 and MML SI-148, were first evaluated for their virulence in tilapia. Proteomics was then performed to analyze protein profiles between the highly virulent isolate (MML SI-007) and lowly virulent isolate (MML SI-018) in order to identify important virulence factors/antigens shared by different isolates. After proteomics, eleven proteins that displayed more than four times the differences in expression between MML SI-007 and MML SI-018 were identified. Two proteins, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), were selected to be vaccine candidates for respectively cloning their genes and expressing their recombinant proteins, rGAPDH and rSOD. After peritoneal vaccination in tilapia, mixed recombinant proteins (rGAPDH + rSOD) elicited significantly higher serum titers and lymphocyte proliferation than individual recombinant proteins (rGAPDH or rSOD). In addition, maximum production of IL-6 in the head kidney was detected in fish peritoneally vaccinated with mixed recombinant proteins. More importantly, 84% (21/25) of tilapia peritoneally vaccinated with mixed recombinant proteins survived at least four weeks after a lethal peritoneal challenge of heterologous S. iniae (MML SI-148). Taken together, our results have pointed out that both GAPDH and SOD identified via proteomics are crucial virulence factors that can be protective antigens for future development of an effective cross-protective subunit vacci

During the period of digitalization, each company strives to use modern technologies to improve the efficiency of its performance. Maintenance is a big challenge for a transport company. Emergency breakdowns lead to significant financial losses. The main attention in this article was paid to the research on how to build a predictive maintenance system in a railway logistics company. The company under discussion is one of the largest private railway carriers in Russia. The paper presents the stages of forming a system for monitoring the technical condition of vehicles and lists the necessary equipment for each stage. A comparative analysis of the solutions offered on the market was carried out. Based on the results of the analysis, it was decided to use a cloud-based solution. After that, the cost and efficiency of the project were calculated. The implementation of predictive maintenance can significantly reduce costs and improve the quality of the service provided by the company.

Reweighting adversarial data during training has been recently shown to improve adversarial robustness, where data closer to the current decision boundaries are regarded as more critical and given larger weights. However, existing methods measuring the closeness are not very reliable: they are discrete and can take only a few values, and they are path-dependent, i.e., they may change given the same start and end points with different attack paths. In this paper, we propose three types of probabilistic margin (PM), which are continuous and path-independent, for measuring the aforementioned closeness and reweighting adversarial data. Specifically, a PM is defined as the difference between two estimated class-posterior probabilities, e.g., such a probability of the true label minus the probability of the most confusing label given some natural data. Though different PMs capture different geometric properties, all three PMs share a negative correlation with the vulnerability of data: data with larger/smaller PMs are safer/riskier and should have smaller/larger weights. Experiments demonstrated that PMs are reliable and PM-based reweighting methods outperformed state-of-the-art counterparts.
