Spatial hearing refers to the subjective perceptions of the spatial attributes of sound and is one of the important functions of human hearing. Based on the principles of spatial hearing, virtual auditory displays simulate the binaural signals in various acoustic environments and then create desired spatial auditory events via headphone or sometimes loudspeaker presentations. HRTF-based (head-related transfer functions) binaural synthesis is the core of virtual auditory displays over headphones. As a special spatial sound technique, virtual auditory displays are not only applicable to conventional audio reproduction, but also to a wide field of research areas and engineering applications, such as multimedia, virtual reality, communication, and acoustic environment assessments. During the past two or three decades, virtual auditory displays have become a hot topic in the field of acoustics and signal processing. This presentation first outlines the principles of spatial hearing, and then comprehensively reviews the principles, progresses, and applications of virtual auditory displays, including some recent works from the authors' research groups. Two classes of narrow-sense BCH codes and their duals

BCH codes and their dual codes are two special subclasses of cyclic codes and are the best linear codes in many cases. A lot of progress on the study of BCH cyclic codes has been made, but little is known about the minimum distances of the duals of BCH codes. Recently, a new concept called dually-BCH code was introduced to investigate the duals of BCH codes and the lower bounds on their minimum distances in [12]. For a prime power q and an integer (formula presented), or (formula presented). In this paper, some sufficient and necessary conditions in terms of the designed distance will be given to ensure that the narrow-sense BCH codes of length n are dually-BCH codes, which extended the results in [12]. Lower bounds on the minimum distances of their dual codes are developed for (formula presented). As byproducts, we present the largest coset leader δ1 modulo n being of two types, which proves a conjecture in [28] and partially solves an open problem in [21]. We also investigate the parameters of the narrow-sense BCH codes of length n with design distance δ1. The BCH codes presented in this paper have good parameters in general. © 2022, CC BY.

Suppression of spin-bath and low-frequency noise for submegahertz ac magnetometry based on a doubly dressed spin qubit in diamond

We experimentally demonstrate a protocol that effectively suppresses low-frequency noise, including the qubit-bath interaction in diamond. This enables the detection of ac signals below 1 MHz with an increased signal-to-noise ratio of up to approximately 17. The method is based on ac magnetometry with single- and doubly dressed states, which are adiabatically transferred from the initial bare qubit states via concatenated continuous dynamical decoupling. We compare the dressed-state protocols with a conventional pulsed dynamical decoupling method, XY16. This work paves an alternative way toward the sensitive detection of weakly coupled nuclear spins in low-field NMR experiments and submegahertz ac magnetometry.

Interfacial engineering techniques play a significant role in the development of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In inverted PSCs, nickel oxide (NiOx) is commonly used as a hole transport material (HTM). The poor interactions at the NiOx/CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPbI3) interface contributed to the low stability and power conversion efficiency (PCE) in devices. To address this issue, dopant-free ultrathin interfacial layers (IFLs) have been introduced between the NiOx and perovskite. These IFLs enhance the chemical interaction between the NiOx and perovskite interfaces and result in improved device performance. Herein, T-shape phenanthro[9,10-d]imidazole derivatives, SR-1 and SR-2, were designed and synthesized. The SR-molecules were employed as IFL materials in p-i-n devices with a device configuration of ITO/NiOx/IFL/MAPbI3/PCBM/BCP/Ag. Notably, the IFLs serve multiple functions: modifying the energy levels of NiOx, improving the surface roughness and crystallinity of MAPbI3, passivating defects, enhancing charge extraction, and reducing trap density at the NiOx/MAPbI3 interface. As a result, the PCEs of both devices with SR-1 and SR-2 IFLs outperformed that of the pristine device. The best performance of 20.3% efficiency with nearly negligible hysteresis was achieved from the device with SR-1. The devices with SR-molecules achieved remarkable thermal stability under ambient air conditions and continuous heating at 60 °C with 50-60% relative humidity. © 2024, The Authors. Background: To evaluate the effect of the weighting of input imaging combo and ADC threshold on the performance of the U-Net and to find an optimized input imaging combo and ADC threshold in segmenting acute ischemic stroke (AIS) lesion. Methods: This study retrospectively enrolled a total of 212 patients having AIS. Four combos, including ADC-ADC-ADC (AAA), DWI-ADC-ADC (DAA), DWI-DWI-ADC (DDA), and DWI-DWI-DWI (DDD), were used as input images, respectively. Three ADC thresholds including 0.6, 0.8 and 1.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s were applied. Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) was used to evaluate the segmentation performance of U-Nets. Nonparametric Kruskal–Wallis test with Tukey–Kramer post-hoc tests were used for comparison. A p <.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The DSC significantly varied among different combos of images and different ADC thresholds. Hybrid U-Nets outperformed uniform U-Nets at ADC thresholds of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s and 0.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s (p <.001). The U-Net with imaging combo of DDD had segmentation performance similar to hybrid U-Nets at an ADC threshold of 1.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s (p =.062 to 1). The U-Net using the imaging combo of DAA at the ADC threshold of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s achieved the highest DSC in the segmentation of AIS lesion. Conclusions: The segmentation performance of U-Net for AIS varies among the input imaging combos and ADC thresholds. The U-Net is optimized by choosing the imaging combo of DAA at an ADC threshold of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s in segmentating AIS lesion with highest DSC. INTERPRETATION OF DEEP TEMPORAL REPRESENTATIONS BY SELECTIVE VISUALIZATION OF INTERNALLY ACTIVATED UNITS

Recently deep neural networks demonstrate competitive performances in classification and regression tasks for many temporal or sequential data. However, it is still hard to understand the classification mechanisms of temporal deep neural networks. In this paper, we propose two new frameworks to visualize temporal representations learned from deep neural networks. Given input data and output, our algorithm interprets the decision of temporal neural network by extracting highly activated periods and visualizes a sub-sequence of input data which contributes to activate the units. Furthermore, we characterize such sub-sequences with clustering and calculate the uncertainty of the suggested type and actual data. We also suggest Layer-wise Relevance from the output of a unit, not from the final output, with backward Monte-Carlo dropout to show the relevance scores of each input point to activate units with providing a visual representation of the uncertainty about this impact. Nowadays, the number of cars is increasing every year, with the number of cars increasing, the parking areas will be limited. If parking areas can take more space in a town/place, it will be good for the town itself because nowadays the problem is either no parking space or too much parking space which is not suitable for human space. Moreover, because our population keeps going up and space is reducing even, we have to cut the forest to make space for parking lots, which is not suitable for our ecosystem. The number of cars itself also increasing each year, which is so problematic in road and infrastructure management. To fix this, we need to have a sound management system for maximizing the use of available space in town and minimizing the traffic in the road. The problem nowadays is a roaming car that searching for parking space and making road traffic and making massive pollution for the town. When a car searching for a parking slot inside a building that is crowded, it will go around the parking lot, and there will be traffic inside the parking lot because many cars will queue searching for empty parking slots. This means that the driver will also waste many fuels, which is not suitable for the ecosystem. Since this problem has not been fixed yet and the population is increasing each year, and a new way of driving and parking system is required, we want to propose a new system that uses the processor board, wireless sensor network to fix the problem.

Multimodal deep learning framework for image popularity prediction on social media

Billions of photos are uploaded to the web daily through various types of social networks. Some of these images receive millions of views and become popular, whereas others remain completely unnoticed. This raises the problem of predicting image popularity on social media. The popularity of an image can be affected by several factors, such as visual content, aesthetic quality, user, post metadata, and time. Thus, considering all these factors is essential for accurately predicting image popularity. In addition, the efficiency of the predictive model also plays a crucial role. In this study, motivated by multimodal learning, which uses information from various modalities, and the current success of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in various fields, we propose a deep learning model, called visual-social convolutional neural network (VSCNN), which predicts the popularity of a posted image by incorporating various types of visual and social features into a unified network model. VSCNN first learns to extract high-level representations from the input visual and social features by utilizing two individual CNNs. The outputs of these two networks are then fused into a joint network to estimate the popularity score in the output layer. We assess the performance of the proposed method by conducting extensive experiments on a dataset of approximately 432K images posted on Flickr. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed VSCNN model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art models, with a relative improvement of greater than 2.33%, 7.59%, and 14.16% in terms of Spearman’s Rho, mean absolute error, and mean squared error, respectively. University in Indonesia contemporary is looking for a solution to improve the university documentation such as certificate and transcript. But fake diploma certificate and transcript is an issue reported in several articles recently. The new technology called Blockchain has been elaborate and predicted can be used to solve the issue because of blockchain characteristics which are immutable, secure, tamperproof and unchangeable. The enrollment process is one of the vital process for university before the document can be made. Therefore, the research tries to elaborate deeply to create a model of the university student enrollment process. The research question of this research is how Blockchain technology can be merge in the enrollment process? The model has been validated by several universities in Indonesia. Forum Group Discussion had been performed to discuss for enrollment process. In the end, many benefits come up from blockchain technology utilization to produce a reliable document such as diploma certificate and transcripts.

Contemporary, Indonesia is looking for an innovative solution to securing diploma certificate and transcript from forgery. Several cases had been reported due to the usage of a fake transcript. One modus of using fake transcript is to enter a higher level of education and job promotion. The new technology found called Blockchain believes in solving the problem. Characteristics of Blockchain technology such as secured, immutable, distributed, transparent seem to be matched with transcript document requirement. Therefore, the research tries to create a process model of the university teaching and learning process. Several studies have been done; however, no detailed process shown especially for teaching and learning activities. The research question is, how are teaching, and learning activities can be supported by Blockchain technology? Qualitative method used in this research, focus group discussion with 9 reputable universities discussed the academic operation process and the result show that it is possible to adopt Blockchain technology into the teaching and learning process to avoid forgery of university transcript documents.
