STEAM education is currently one of the most important parts of the elementary school curriculum. If STEAM learning can cultivate good problem-solving ability, it will also help improve judgment and thinking abilities. Several voices in the literature have argued for cooperative learning in STEAM courses. Although the effectiveness of course learning often is evaluated using course feedback forms, there is comparatively little emphasis on whether a course succeeds in realizing cooperative learning. For a course involving self-propelled toy-brick cars, there is little research on the application of low-grade pupils. Therefore, based on the integration of STEAM courses into self-propelled toy-brick car learning, this study applied two learning strategies of cooperative learning and individual learning to low-grade pupils in the second grade in elementary schools. After completing the course problem-solving ability indicators were measured and analyzed using the problem-solving ability test. The results show that the mean score of the experimental group in the problem-solving ability test was higher than that of the control group. In the problem-solving ability test, the scores of the two groups were also significantly different, which suggests that cooperative learning is more effective than individual learning strategies. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

The isotopic compositions of samples returned from Cb-type asteroid Ryugu and Ivuna-type (CI) chondrites are distinct from other carbonaceous chondrites, which has led to the suggestion that Ryugu/CI chondrites formed in a different region of the accretion disk, possibly around the orbits of Uranus and Neptune. We show that, like for Fe, Ryugu and CI chondrites also have indistinguishable Ni isotope anomalies, which differ from those of other carbonaceous chondrites. We propose that this unique Fe and Ni isotopic composition reflects different accretion efficiencies of small FeNi metal grains among the carbonaceous chondrite parent bodies. The CI chondrites incorporated these grains more efficiently, possibly because they formed at the end of the disk’s lifetime, when planetesimal formation was also triggered by photoevaporation of the disk. Isotopic variations among carbonaceous chondrites may thus reflect fractionation of distinct dust components from a common reservoir, implying CI chondrites/Ryugu may have formed in the same region of the accretion disk as other carbonaceous chondrites. © 2024, CC BY.

Today many local governments have provided aspiration services or social media based complaints about the community to participate in giving aspirations and report problems that occur around the area. To improve the usefulness of this service, we conduct research with the aim of evaluating and identifying the factors that affect the service's application. The impact of this study is that the government can provide services according to the wishes of the community, because the model found can be a reference for the government to increase public trust and satisfaction for users of government services. The influence on the adoption of Aspiration Services is explained by using perceptions of trust, attitudes, and intentions of use that refer to technology acceptance models (TAM). Data processing and analysis in our research using the SEM-PLS method (Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Square). The results in this research will present that services applying technology that gain a positive effect on the awareness of usability and benefit for service users. © 2019 IEEE.

Consider a human who interacts with the physical world to autonomously learn in a task non-specific way through lifetime. It seems obvious that the fully autonomous learner does not have the luxury to have the mother to provide temporally dense state labels, but the context/state at every frame is beneficial (e.g., to generate attention for the next frame). How can we enable the learner to generate frame-wise contexts/states on the fly? Our past work on Developmental Network (DN-1) has shown that frame-wise state labels (e.g., stages within a phoneme) are useful to generate temporally sparse label (the type of the phoneme). However, such dense and sparse labels were handcrafted from a static data set, using human identified frame-wise equivalence. In this paper, we study a conceptually challenging problem - how to enable an autonomous learner to generate frame-wise states autonomously without human handcrafting dense labels at all. We propose that frame-wise muscle actions (e.g., producing a sound) are not only temporally dense and high-dimensional, but also natural as dense labels. However, it is unknown how a neural network can use such high-dimensional vectors as dense labels. In this work, we provide a model for this new issue and experiment with Developmental Network-2 (DN-2) for imitation of audio sequences. Our experimental results showed DN-2 can successfully emerge high-dimensional real-valued vector actions. These actions provide DN-2 with frame-wise temporal context information. This work corresponds to a key step toward our goal to enable the agent to fully autonomously generate frame-wise actions without human-provided dense labels and with only a few human-provided sparse labels.

On March 28, 2025, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck central Myanmar, with tremors widely felt across Thailand. Bangkok, in particular, experienced severe disruption due to long-period ground motion (LPGM), highlighting the city’s vulnerability to distant seismic events. This earthquake represents the most wide-reaching seismic disruption to affect Thailand since the 2004 Aceh Tsunami. This study presents preliminary observations of Thailand’s response during the critical first 72 hours, focusing on structural damage, emergency coordination, evacuation challenges, and public risk communication. In Bangkok, the collapse of a 30-story construction site resulted in 19 fatalities and 78 missing persons. Vulnerable groups, including people with limited mobility, faced heightened risks due to inaccessible infrastructure. Hospitals struggled to maintain operations while evacuating patients, and misinformation on social media intensified public confusion. This research identifies key policy implications: enhancing building standards to address non-structural elements, institutionalizing regular evacuation drills for high-rise buildings, and accelerating the deployment of nationwide cell broadcast alert systems. The 2025 Mandalay earthquake revealed that seismic events beyond national borders can cascade into multi-dimensional urban crises. The findings underscore the urgency of integrated risk governance frameworks and strengthened regional collaboration across Southeast Asia to prepare for and mitigate cross-border disaster impacts.

This paper proposes an architecture for a planning optimization platform called the Grid of Grids Optimal Designer (GGOD) to facilitate the optimization of cluster type micro-grid installation and operation. Micro-grid clusters are groups of micro-grids with renewable energy that operate autonomously without power supply from main grids. The GGOD simulates micro-grid optimizations based on a service-oriented architecture and comprises three layers, i.e., end user, service broker, and service supply layers. The enduser layer corresponds to the client system, and the GGOD corresponds to the service broker and service supply layers. The service broker layer is for service management, and the service supply layer comprises various optimization components. Combinable optimization components are activated based on request text in extensible markup language format from end users. By combining optimization components, different optimizations are executed for a single request, the results of the same type of optimization methods are compared, and sudden operation environment changes are considered. Geospatial integrated resource planning and micro-grid facility planning are demonstrated as examples of GGOD applications. © 2019 IEEE.

In this digital era, games become one of entertainment that knows no age. For students, the game can have a positive impact, namely increasing cognitive and motoric abilities. This research seeks to see the experience of students in Jakarta after playing the DOTA 2 game. DOTA 2 is one of the famous games and one of the games that once recorded a record of making an event with the biggest prize in the world of E-Sport. The research method used is neuroresearch. Data is obtained through questionnaires with user experience indicators. The results of the study show that the graphics and game style are the determinants of user experience where gameplay and the purpose of play are the main indicators of the user experience of this game. © 2019 IEEE.

Wind power has been experiencing a quick improvement. Without a doubt, wind is a variable asset that is hard to forecast. For instance, traditionally time series, extra holds are distributed to deal with this uncertainty. This paper presents a comparison of the performance of various Support Vector Regression (SVR) applied to short-term wind power forecasting. The analogy with BORUTA and multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) as judge best input and employ genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization to find best parameter in Support Vector Regression with robust lost function. We measure the accuracy of this models by Symmetric means absolute percentage error (sMAPE) and we get the best model BORUTA-SVR-PSO with sMAPE 2.07155%. Moreover, we measure the energy conversion using Feedback Linearization Control (FLC). © International Association of Engineers.

High-figure of merit (FoM) plasmonic microwave resonator is researched as a non-invasive on-body sensor to monitor the human body's blood glucose variation rate in adults for biomedical applications, e.g., diabetic patients. The resonance frequencies of the proposed sensor are measured to be around [Formula: see text] GHz and [Formula: see text] GHz over the frequency band of DC to 6GHz which are suitable for monitoring interstitial fluid (ISF) changing rate. The [Formula: see text] sensor is experimentally wrapped on the human body arm to monitor the blood glucose changing rate via amplitude and frequency variations of the sensor. Amplitude variation and frequency shift are measured to be around 7 dB and 30 MHz, respectively. The measured results demonstrate the high precision of the proposed approach to depict a valid diagram for glucose changing rate due to good impedance matching of the designed microwave sensor and human body. The sensor is shown to enhance the sensitivity by a factor of 5 compared to the conventional ones.

Since the birth of AI, symbols have been well accepted as an abstract representation for intelligent systems, even when neural networks are employed. This theoretical work shows the following new methods: (1) Symbols are probably not used by biological brains because their behaviors are not limited by symbols. (2) Autonomous programming For General Purposes (APFGP) is necessary for scaling-up AI to animal level intelligence. "Autonomous " means inside the skull (or network). (3) A Developmental Network (DN) performs APFGP by learning a super Turing machine, called Grounded, Emergent, Natural, Incremental, Skull-closed, Attentive, Motivated, and Abstractive (GENISAMA) Turing machine. (4) A DN is free of any central controller (e.g., Master Map, convolution, or error back-propagation). (5) The GENISAMA DN does APFGP without using symbols. Experiments are reported for vision guided navigation, auditory recognition, and natural language learning. This is the first conference paper on APFGP.
