Relevance feedback schmes based on support vector machines(SVM) have been widely used in content-based image retrieval(CBIR). SVM-based relevance feedback has often bad performance when the number of labeled positive feedback samples is small. This paper presents a method to use the unlabeled data to improve the performance of SVM classifier, which has only a few labeled training examples. We adapt an improved active learning approach to select most informative data from the unlabeled samples set. It can reduce to compute some unnecessary information for feedback results and only label few samples. It can be used in pervative computing availably. Experiments show our approach can use the unlabeled samples effectively, reduce to label more unnecessary data, and improve the classifier's performance.

In this paper, we propose an approach to automatic detection of semantic object. The method provides an effective content expression pattern for semantic analysis and retrieval of video. In the moving semantic object detection model, motion contrast is computed based on the planar motion (homography) between frames, which is estimated by applying RANSAC algorithm on point correspondences in the scene. In the semantic object detection model of static frame, the three features used are intensity, color and texture. Then a dynamic fusion technique is applied to combine these models. The automatic detection method can greatly decrease computation and be used in pervasive computing environment conveniently. Experimental results verify efficiency of proposed approach.

A novel of comprehensive study and useful information for the design of broadband planar inverted F antenna (PIFA) is proposed. The antenna including the ground plane has a total dimension 6 mm times 70 mm times 30 mm has been optimized to be operating within WLAN application standards. The size of this antenna makes it ideally suitable for handheld wireless communicators. The physical parameters of the antenna, including shorting plate width, antenna height and ground plane dimensions, are studied. The influence of various parameters on antenna characteristics has been investigated using simulation software tool. By understanding the effect of each parameter, a novel comprehensive study for a better design of broadband PIFA is proposed. These results are very useful in the design of PIFA.

A mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) consist of a collection of wireless mobile nodes which dynamically exchange data among themselves without a reliance on a fixed base station or a wired backbone network. Because of these characteristics, path connecting source nodes with destination may be very unstable and go down at any time, making communication over ad hoc networks difficult. In most cases, the ability of creating multiple routes from source to destination is used to provide a backup route. When a primary route fails to deliver the packets in some wa, the backup is used. This provides a better fault tolerance in the sense of faster and efficient recovery from route failures. This paper will address the previous study on multipath routing protocols in MANETs, benefits and applications.

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a collection of wireless mobile terminals that are able to dynamically form a temporary network without any aid from fixed infrastructure or centralized administration. MANETs are strongly impacted by the mobility of the ad hoc nodes. Path broken, which is caused by node mobility , leads to the rerouting operations and the degradation of network performance. One critical issue for routing in MANETs is how to select reliable path that can last as long as possible. This paper will address the previous study on how to measure link availability or reliability in order to find more reliable paths. To solve this problem, a criterion that can judge the link reliability is needed. The metric for routing selection in terms of path availability which is based on link availability can be used to select reliable path.

There is an ever demanding need to develop low power audio devices using MP3 technology. From the profiled results of MP3 algorithm on ARM processors it has been observed that, the synthesis filter bank in the audio decoder consumes maximum power. Hence to reduce the power consumption of the filter bank, we developed an IEEE 754 single precision floating-point runtime re-configurable architecture. The proposed architecture consumes less power at run time as the last 12 bits of the mantissa part of the synthesis filter coefficients are zero most of the time and hence the corresponding multipliers will be switched off. Since the active multipliers during inverse polyphase quadrature mirror filter banks (IPQMF) are less, we are able to achieve low powered decoding process without significantly compromising on the accuracy and speed. We synthesized and simulated the architecture using 0.35 mum process technology under Synopsys environment. A uniform worst case power reduction of 23.7% has been achieved in the frequency range from 1MHz to 20 MHz when all the multipliers are in active state.

This paper presents the design of a single rectangular microstrip patch antenna for operation at 2.4 GHz frequency on Radio Frequency (RF) antenna application using low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology. LTCC is chosen as the substrate because of compactness and or being light-weight. It also offers high-speed and functionality for portable electronic devices used for wireless voice and data communication in rapidly expanding mobile network systems. The aim of this project was to design and simulate a microstrip patch antenna on the LTCC substrate call Ferro A6M tape operating at 2.4 GHz. Two microstrip patch antennas operating at 2.4 GHz was designed, and simulated; a rectangular microstrip patch antenna using LTCC technology has a length, L, 25.5 mm and a width, W, 34 mm and a rectangular microstrip patch antenna using printed circuit board (PCB) technology has a length, L, 28 mm and width, W, 37 mm. Those designs were simulated with Microwave Office software.

Wireless mobility seems to be transforming the communication industry, shifting the momentum from Internet access to broadband wireless access. This technology-shifting has been expected to provide a better communication services in return. The ability to transfer communication at extremely high speeds and the ability to stay connected during a fast movement speed should always be applicable for the upcoming and future technology. This involves addressing the challenge of maintaining the quality of service (QoS) in wireless high speed movement environment. This paper presents a method employing dedicated solicitation message for supporting fast mobile node's switching process while moving between heterogeneous access routers (AR). Simulation of the proposed method show substantial performance improvement for one of the mobile IP's enhancement scheme known as SIGMA. The proposed method has been integrated with our previous enhancement method on SIGMA known as mobile motion prediction and the performance of the integrated approach demonstrates an overall improvement.

We propose MarSelHR, a haplotype reconstruction system, which is a combination of LD based block partitioning with Clark's algorithm. MarSelHR uses less CPU processing time than other haplotype reconstruction systems, and makes possible large-scale data processing using less memory through block unit processing. Furthermore, MarSelHR involves biological meaning through LD based partitioning and is able to result in more precise inference.

The dynamic re-organization of holons is a key element of current research on HMS. Dynamic intelligent reconfiguration is important for holonic control. This paper extends the mechanism of virtual clustering to the reorganization of holons and uses contract net-based task allocation protocol to efficiently deal with the communication and coordination problems during task-oriented clustering. The PSO-based virtual clustering optimization algorithm described in this paper can solve the optimization problem of task allocation on the basis of global optimization. The hybrid algorithm combines the high speed of PSO with the powerful ability to avoid being trapped in local minimum of SA. We compare the PSO algorithm to both GA and SA models, the simulation results show that the proposed model and algorithm are effective
