This paper mainly revolves the time-frequency image of low probability of intercept(LPI) radar signals and carries out research work on image features selection and extraction and recognition. Since Choi-Williams distribution(CWD) uses the exponential kernel of bilinear generalized class of time-frequency distribution, it has an excellent time-frequency aggregation. And it is suitable for detecting LPI radar signals in a low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) condition. A radial integration method based on the integral rotating factor is proposed to detect LPI radar signals when the signals’ time-frequency image is obtained. First, the digital image processing method is used to preprocess the LPI radar signals’ time-frequency images after CWD transformation; then, the radial integration method based on the integral rotating factor is used to detect LPI radar signals in the binary images. The analytic results of real data show that the method has a good performance on detecting LPI radar signals in a low SNR condition. Additionally,the method is simple and takes less logic resources and has the potential of real-time detection of LPI radar signals.

This paper presents our preliminary geoacoustic inversion results of the ship noise data collected by a vector sensor in 2008, Dalian, China. For the at-sea measurement, a fishing boat was served as a passive source passed by the receiver boat deploying a vector sensor, which collected the pressure field and particle velocity components at three orthogonal directions of X, Y and Z. A batch inversion scheme is adapted to optimize a Bartlett type cost function that comprises the range-dependent sound propagation features. The results from the pressure, vertical particle velocity component and the combination of them are presented, which suggests the combination processing can provide better inversion results.

The regular striations exhibited in broadband noise spectrogram due to a moving ship have been exploited for inverse problems in underwater acoustics, e.g., sediment geoacoustic characterization and source ranging. The enhancement of the underlying interference structure for striation extraction has been a hot topic for relative applications. In this paper, a straightforward method based on the low-frequency sound propagation characteristics is proposed to strengthen the main striation features. This method intuitively enhances the striation pattern by smoothing the resultant spectrogram along range (time) for each frequency bin. The method is applied to the ship noise data collected in 2008, Dalian, and then filtered by a multi-scale line filter, which demonstrate can greatly improve the quality of extracted striations than that of raw data. A hough transformation technique is applied to reconstruct the striation segment to estimate precise geometrical information that can be used for source range estimation.
