Large-scale satellite networks are a crucial component of future communication systems. However, they pose several challenges to satellite routing design and link recovery. This paper proposes an Adaptive Load Balancing routing algorithm for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Cluster Networks (ALBSCN) to meet the needs of large-scale Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite networks. The constellation is divided into clusters, with each cluster maintaining the intra-cluster link state by electing a cluster head. The cluster head computes intra-cluster and inter-cluster routes. Messages are forwarded using inter-cluster multipath routing and intra-cluster routing techniques. We validated the algorithm's performance and compared it with other algorithms in terms of packet delivery delay using simulation. Simulation results indicate that the proposed clustering routing scheme effectively reduced packet loss and end-to-end delay, while also increasing network throughput.

Short-term traffic flow forecasting is crucial for intelligent traffic management. In view of the non-linear and random nature of short-term traffic flow, a prediction model based on BAS-VMD-CEEMDAN and IWOA-RF is proposed. Firstly, the parameters of the VMD, namely the modal number (K) and the value of the quadratic penalty term (α), are optimized using the BAS algorithm, and then the traffic flow is decomposed to obtain several VMF components and one RES component, which extracts the smooth information of the traffic flow. Subsequently, the RES component is decomposed using the decomposition completeness of CEEMDAN to obtain several IMF components, refining the complex information of the RES component. Then, the RF model is constructed according to the characteristics of each component, and then the parameters of RF models are optimized using IWOA. Finally, overlay the predictions of each component superimposed to obtain the final predictions. Experimental results show that the short-term traffic flow forecasting model basedon BAS-VMD-CEEMDAN-IWOA-RF has a high accuracy compared to other decomposition models. © 2023 IEEE.

Low earth orbit satellite communication systems are attractive for provisioning global, high-speed and low latency Internet access services. In order to achieve global continuous multiple coverage, the number of satellites is tremendous. But Low earth orbit satellite networks are prone to instability due to unpredictable link failures and frequent topology changes. Therefore, in this paper, a novel routing schemes with quick response to link failures is first proposed. Based on Dijkstra algorithm, a scalable routing algorithm is proposed to minimize the end-to-end transmission delay. It takes advantage of the predictable constellation trajectory, and changes dynamically according to the changes of network topology. It provides the shortest routing path and an alternative path simultaneously. When a link failure is detected by one satellite, notification packets will be sent to its neighbors for adjustment to the alternative routing path. Notification packets also will be sent to the head node for the recalculation of routing table. Finally, extensive simulations have been conducted, and the results show that the proposed scheme is able to produce desired performance. © 2022 IEEE.

A key feature of extended target (ET) is that it can produce multiple measurements, thus providing detailed information such as size, orientation. However, due to the measurement number decrease, the ET tends to be a point target (PT) when it becomes far from the sensor, leading to disability of estimating the extensions. In this paper we consider the problem of distributed ETs tracking based on multiple sensors. In such a case the measurements decrease of an ET can be compensated by other sensors, so that the tracking performance can be maintained. In the proposed algorithm the targets are modeled by Poisson multi-Bernoulli (PMB) random finite set (RFS) and the state of each target consists of two parts representing the possibility of being ET and PT, respectively. In the local filtering state, interaction between ET and PT states is considered in the prediction step for target identity change between ET and PT, based on which the local PMB filter is achieved for seamlessly tracking ETs and PTs. In the fusion part a generalized covariance intersection (GCI) based criterion is proposed to fuse the posteriors of each sensor. The performance of proposed algorithm is verified via simulations.

The lack of labeled data is the bottleneck restricting deep text classification algorithm. State-of-the-art for most existing deep text classification methods follow the two-step transfer learning paradigm: pre-training a large model on an auxiliary task, and then fine-tuning the model on a labeled data. Their shortcoming is the high cost of training. To reduce training costs as well as alleviate the need for labeled data, we present a novel simple Semi-Supervised Joint Learning (SSJL) framework for few-shot text classification that captures the rich text semantics from large user-tagged data (referred to as weakly-labeled data) with noisy labels while also learning correct category distributions in small labeled data. We refine the contrastive loss function to better exploit inter-class contrastive patterns, making contrastive learning more applicable to the weakly-labeled setting. Besides, an appropriate temperature hyper-parameter can improve model robustness under label noise. The experimental results on four real-world datasets show that our approach outperforms the other baseline methods. Moreover, SSJL significantly boosts the deep models' performance with only 0.5% (i.e. 32 samples) of the labeled data, showing its robustness in the data sparsity scenario. © 2022 ACM.

This paper proposes a random linear network coding method tailored for data transmission within Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation networks to address the challenges of long delay and high bit error rates (BER) in LEO satellite networks. The method employs a link quality-aware strategy, enabling dynamic adjustment of source-side redundancy based on the corresponding link quality to maximize network fault tolerance with minimal overhead. Validation using the OMNET++ discrete event simulation platform indicates that the proposed method performs well in LEO satellite networks of various scales and configurations, exhibiting superior performance in more extensive networks. In particular, in the 300-LEO and 200-LEO scenarios, the proposed method demonstrates a successful delivery rate improvement of 19.6% and 18.73%, respectively, compared to traditional single-path approaches. This method is deemed more suitable for application in dynamic satellite networks with large hop counts.

Human pose estimation has a wide range of applications in the field of computer vision, especially in sports event analysis where its importance is increasingly prominent. This study aims to optimize the basketball player detection model based on OpenPose, improving its performance in real-world scenarios. Firstly, we replace the VGG19 network in Openpose with a lightweight MobileNet structure to increase computational efficiency and reduce model parameters. Secondly, we introduce the Pyramid Spatial Attention (PSA) module into MobileNet to better capture local and global contextual information. Lastly, we adopt the Adaptive Wing Loss as the loss function, making the model more stable and accurate in localization. We pre-train the model on the COCO2017 dataset and conduct experiments on basketball player detection tasks. The experimental data show that, compared to the baseline model, our full model has significant improvements in Average Precision (AP), AP50, and running speed (FPS) metrics. Specifically, the full model achieves an AP of 70.0%, AP50 of 88.0%, and FPS of 41. The research results of this study can provide more accurate pose estimation information for basketball game analysis, contributing to the improvement of game strategy formulation and player performance evaluation. © 2023 IEEE.

Robust textile-based spoof plasmonic frequency scanning antenna for on-body IoT applications

Securing a comfortable, wearable compact frequency beam scanning antenna(FBSA) with robustness to deformation, low specific absorption rate(SAR), and good coverage of the surrounding environment for Internet of Things(IoT) applications, such as on-body navigation and wireless communication is an emerging challenge. In this work, a robust textile-based spoof plasmonic frequency scanning antenna utilizing higher-order modes is presented, which is also robust to deformation caused by the activities of the human body. The innovative design of the element ensures the high-efficiency transmission of the fundamental mode of spoof surface plasmon polaritons(SSPP) structure, providing the potential of being a multifunctional composite device in the compact on-body network. Besides, an artificial magnetic conductor(AMC) is designed underneath the SSPP structure, obtaining a low SAR value(0.113 W/kg), which ensures the safety of users. As a practical realization of this concept, a textile-based spoof plasmonic antenna was fabricated in the microwave regime and the performed experimental results show the proposed antenna has a single-beam radiation characteristic with a 70° beam scanning angle range when the frequency is 4.7–6.0 GHz with a high average realized gain of 13.15 dBi. And it still maintains a steady performance when faced with structure deformation, which proves its robustness. Wireless communication quality experiments are performed to demonstrate the proposed antenna can measure the angles of targets and realize wireless signal transmission to specific targets as the frequency varies, it may find great potential in the field of on-body IoT applications.

In order to calculate the packet loss rate in OBS network, this paper proposes a method, which performs good in both accuracy and rapidity, based on Erlang B formula to estimate the packet loss probability in OBS network using backup path protection mechanism. This method can be used to optimize the design of OBS network protocol, and it also provides an accurate and efficient approximate calculation method of packet loss rate in OBS network and can be conductive to the study of using copy transmission to enhance the network survivability. Based on the formula of Erlang B, this paper briefly introduces the derivation process and principle of this method. The basic experimental principles of simulation and estimation processes are designed in this paper, and the experimental results of the proposed method under a typical network topology (ARPA network) with no protection mechanism and 1 and 2 backup paths protection mechanisms are analyzed to verify its rapidity and accuracy. The results of experiments show the accuracy and efficiency of this method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Sea surface salinity (SSS) as an important indicator of ocean water circulation, affects global ecology and climate change. However, the accuracy of L-band satellite sea surface salinity retrieval products has been severely affected in coastal regions due to factors such as Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and Land Sea Continuation (LSC). In this study, coastal regions observational data from the Soil Motion Active Passive (SMAP) satellite, and established the LGBM model for SSS retrieval. The results indicated that LGBM performed excellently in the retrieval of SSS in coastal regions. In comparison to in-situ SSS, the LGBM SSS demonstrated a mean bias (MB) of 0.11psu, a root mean squares error (RMSE) of 0.68psu. This paper also added the bias between LGBM SSS and in situ SSS for secondary correction of LGBM. This correction reduced the MB to 0.03psu, the RMSE to 0.54psu. This study affirms the feasibility of using LGBM for SSS retrieval in coastal regions. Future efforts will focus on integrating more auxiliary data that may influence SSS in coastal regions, aiming to further enhance the precision of the coastal regions’ SSS retrieval product.
