Deep neural networks have greatly promoted the performance of single image super-resolution (SISR). Conventional methods still resort to restoring the single high-resolution (HR) solution only based on the input of image modality. However, the image-level information is insufficient to predict adequate details and photo-realistic visual quality facing large upscaling factors (×8, ×16). In this paper, we propose a new perspective that regards the SISR as a semantic image detail enhancement problem to generate semantically reasonable HR image that are faithful to the ground truth. To enhance the semantic accuracy and the visual quality of the reconstructed image, we explore the multi-modal fusion learning in SISR by proposing a Text-Guided Super-Resolution (TGSR) framework, which can effectively utilize the information from the text and image modalities. Different from existing methods, the proposed TGSR could generate HR image details that match the text descriptions through a coarse-to-fine process. Extensive experiments and ablation studies demonstrate the effect of the TGSR, which exploits the text reference to recover realistic images. © 2022, CC BY.

Contrastive Learning of Person-independent Representations for Facial Action Unit Detection

Facial action unit (AU) detection, aiming to classify AU present in the facial image, has long suffered from insufficient AU annotations. In this paper, we aim to mitigate this data scarcity issue by learning AU representations from a large number of unlabelled facial videos in a contrastive learning paradigm. We formulate the self-supervised AU representation learning signals in two-fold: (1) AU representation should be frame-wisely discriminative within a short video clip;(2) Facial frames sampled from different identities but show analogous facial AUs should have consistent AU representations. As to achieve these goals, we propose to contrastively learn the AU representation within a video clip and devise a cross-identity reconstruction mechanism to learn the person-independent representations. Specially, we adopt a margin-based temporal contrastive learning paradigm to perceive the temporal AU coherence and evolution characteristics within a clip that consists of consecutive input facial frames. Moreover, the cross-identity reconstruction mechanism facilitates pushing the faces from different identities but show analogous AUs close in the latent embedding space. Experimental results on three public AU datasets demonstrate that the learned AU representation is discriminative for AU detection. This work presents a high isolation UWB-MIMO antenna with a bandwidth up to 8.6 GHz based on a Minkowski fractal structure. The proposed antenna is fed by microstrip and comprises two orthogonal monopole antennas, which delivers a decent isolation effect. Moreover, the ground is designed as two separated blocks with an I-shaped branch for improving the isolation degree between the units. The resultant isolation degree of this antenna is greater than 25 dB. Besides, the electromagnetic interference in the partial frequency band (such as Wi-Max band (3.45–4.45 GHz), WLAN band (5.1– 5.8 GHz), and X-band (7.25–7.75 GHz)) is further prevented through etching a split-ring resonator (SRR) and C-slot on the unit. The antenna reflection coefficient of the UWB-MIMO antenna at the notch is 3.5 dB, which indicates that the antenna has a conspicuousness anti-interference effect. Through the above judicious design, the proposed UWB-MIMO antenna possesses a relative bandwidth of 113% (up to 8.6 GHz). The envelope correlation coefficient between antenna units is less than 0.005, and the antenna radiation efficiency is up to 80%. High-Accurate and Eﬀicient Numerical Algorithms for the Self-Consistent Field Theory of Liquid-Crystalline Polymers

In this paper, we develop and investigate numerical methods for the self-consistent field theory (SCFT) of liquid crystalline polymers. Both the Flory-Huggins interaction potential and the Maier-Saupe orientational interaction are considered, enabling simultaneous exploration of microphase separation and liquid crystalline order in these systems. The main challenge in numerically solving this complex system lies in solving 6-dimensional (3D spatial + 2D orientation + 1D time) partial differential equations and performing nonlinear iterations to optimize the fields. We present ten numerical algorithms for solving high-dimensional PDEs and give an evaluation criterion of choosing the most appropriate PDE solver both from theoretical and numerical performance. Results demonstrate that coupling the fourth-order Runge-Kutta scheme with Fourier pseudo-spectral methods and spherical harmonic transformations is superior compared to other algorithms. We develop two nonlinear iteration schemes, alternating direction iteration method and Anderson mixing method, and design an adaptive technique to enhance the stability of the Anderson mixing method. Moreover, the cascadic multi-level (CML) technique further accelerates the SCFT computation when applied to these iteration methods. Meanwhile, an approach to optimize the computational domain is developed. To demonstrate the power of our approaches, we investigate the self-assembled behaviors of flexible-semiflexible diblock copolymers in 4, 5, 6-dimensional simulations. Community evolution tracking is widely used in complex network analysis, which analyzes and identifies how communities evolve over time based on dynamic community detection. However, the current incremental dynamic community detection method has the phenomenon of ’concept drift’, which leads to inaccurate tracking of community evolution. Although some studies on dynamic community detection have proposed to perform global community detection on the network by timing or when the error information accumulates to a certain extent, this method will lead to a sudden change in community division, which will interrupt the evolution sequence of some communities and bring great difficulties to the continuous tracking of community evolution. In addition, the current community evolution tracking methods match the communities of two adjacent snapshots, and it is difficult to capture the fine-grained evolution process within the community. This paper proposes a community evolution tracking algorithm based on high-order neighbor consideration and node change identification. Firstly, based on an incremental update strategy that considers high-order neighbors, we adaptively expand the scope of incremental updates to reduce the accumulation of error information. Secondly, through the node change identification strategy to mine fine-grained community evolution events. Unified stream and batch computing (USBC) aims to incorporate stream and batch computation into a unified framework, thereby enabling the development of a one-stop solution for stream and batch data processing and enhancing the generalization of the framework. However, research on unified graph computing models (UGCMs) faces several challenges. First, existing UGCMs need to consider all graph information in the cache during the incremental update phase, thus leading to decreased execution efficiency. Second, existing UGCMs use fixed bytes to store nodes without considering the actual space occupied by nodes resulting in wasted memory when dealing with large graphs. This paper proposes a UGCM with Local Updates for community detection (UGCM-LU). We first implement a local update strategy to consider partial information of the graph to achieve incremental updates. Secondly, we also designed a byte-compression-based module to store graph data according to the space occupied by nodes. Label distribution learning quantifies the label space for each instance and has wide applicability in different fields. However, most existing work primarily focuses on common features, ignores the significance of label-specific features. Meanwhile, label correlation is well used in these work, but they still have limitations in capturing instance correlation. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel approach for label distribution learning to learn common and label-specific features with correlation information i.e. instance correlation and label correlation. First, we conduct $\ell_{2,1}-$norm regularization to select common and label-specific features, simultaneously. Then, we implement an optimization function to identify instance correlation in feature space. In addition, label correlation is collected with Pearson correlation coefficient. Finally, we design an objective function that enables the joint learning of common and label-specific features while leveraging correlation information. Comprehensive experiments manifest the superiority of our proposed approach against other well-established label distribution learning algorithms. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Real-world networks can be divided into homophilic and heterophilic graphs. Significantly, many nodes tend to be heterophilic in a homophilic graph. Graph representation learning in heterophilic graphs has attracted considerable significance in recent years as it breaks the homophily assumption and achieves higher-quality graph embeddings. However, existing heterophilic graph representation learning methods often mix attribute and topological information, neglecting the mutual exclusion between attribute information and topological information. Furthermore, algorithms in heterogeneous graphs usually rely on specific matrix structures to capture high-order information, which may restrict the applicability of these methods. To tackle these issues, this paper proposes a GNN-based strategy for Heterophilic graph Representation Learning based on Multi-order information extraction and High and Low pass filters (HRLMHL). First, we designed two relatively independent modules to learn attribute information and topological information, respectively, to address the issue of mismatch. Second, we built a multi-order information extraction module to extract multi-order similarity features, thereby achieving the learning of high-order graph information. Experiments on real datasets show that the node classification accuracy is superior to that of the state-of-the-art methods on most datasets.

Downstream-Pretext Domain Knowledge Traceback for Active Learning

Active learning (AL) is designed to construct a high-quality labeled dataset by iteratively selecting the most informative samples. Such sampling heavily relies on data representation, while recently pre-training is popular for robust feature learning. However, as pre-training utilizes low-level pretext tasks that lack annotation, directly using pre-trained representation in AL is inadequate for determining the sampling score. To address this problem, we propose a downstream-pretext domain knowledge traceback (DOKT) method that traces the data interactions of downstream knowledge and pre-training guidance for selecting diverse and instructive samples near the decision boundary. DOKT consists of a traceback diversity indicator and a domain-based uncertainty estimator. The diversity indicator constructs two feature spaces based on the pre-training pretext model and the downstream knowledge from annotation, by which it locates the neighbors of unlabeled data from the downstream space in the pretext space to explore the interaction of samples. With this mechanism, DOKT unifies the data relations of low-level and high-level representations to estimate traceback diversity. Next, in the uncertainty estimator, domain mixing is designed to enforce perceptual perturbing to unlabeled samples with similar visual patches in the pretext space. Then the divergence of perturbed samples is measured to estimate the domain uncertainty. As a result, DOKT selects the most diverse and important samples based on these two modules. The experiments conducted on ten datasets show that our model outperforms other state-of-the-art methods and generalizes well to various application scenarios such as semantic segmentation and image captioning. Self-consistent field theory (SCFT) is one of the most widely-used framework in studying the equilibrium phase behaviors of inhomogenous polymers. For liquid crystalline polymeric systems, the main numerical challenges of solving SCFT encompass efficiently solving plenty of six dimensional partial differential equations (PDEs), precisely determining the subtle energy difference among self-assembled structures, and developing effective iterative methods for nonlinear SCF iteration. To address these challenges, this work introduces a suite of high-order and efficient numerical methods tailored for SCFT of liquid-crystalline polymers. These methods include various advaced PDE solvers, an improved Anderson iteration algorithm to accelerate SCFT calculations, and an optimization technique of adjusting the computational domain during the SCF iterations. Extensive numerical tests demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed methods. Based on these algorithms, we further explore the self-assembly behavior of liquid crystalline polymers through simulations in four, five, and six dimensions, uncovering intricate three-dimensional spatial structures.
