Medical Body Area Networks (MBANs) increasingly utilize wireless communication technologies to enhance the freedom and convenience for patients and caregivers. Currently, radio frequency (RF) is the prevalent medium in healthcare applications;however, the potential for electromagnetic interference with precision medical equipment remains a concern. This study introduces a novel design and implementation of a medical healthcare information system using the newly developed Wireless Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology, also known as Light Fidelity (Li-Fi). Visible Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), expected to soon surpass traditional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs as the primary light source due to their energy efficiency, facilitate this technology. In this research, patient health is monitored using sensors, with results displayed on an LCD. An LED lightbulb transmits the data as light signals, which are captured by a photo-detector at the receiver's end. This setup not only displays the output on an LCD but also alerts caregivers through an auditory signal, beeping every 15 seconds for respiration and every 30 seconds for heart rate monitoring. Moreover, these lighting fixtures serve dual functions: illumination and wireless data transmission, using the rapid switching capability of LEDs. This prototype VLC-based system offers a promising alternative for data services and monitoring in hospital areas where RF use is restricted. © 2024 IEEE.

Temporal Activity Localization via Language (TALL) is a challenging task for language based video understanding, especially when a video contains multiple moments of interest and the language query has words describing complex context dependencies between the moments. Latest studies have proposed various ways to exploit the temporal context of adjacent moments, but two apparent limitations remained. First, only limited context information was encoded based on RNNs or 2-D convolutions, which highly depended on the pre-sorting of proposals and lacked flexibility. Second, semantically correlated content in different moments was ignored, i.e., semantic context. To address these limitations, we propose a novel GCN-based framework, i.e., Context-Aware Moment Graph (CAMG) network, to jointly model the temporal context and semantic context. Also, we design a multi-step fusion scheme to aggregate object, motion and textual features. A Query-Gated Integration Module is further designed to select queried objects and filter out noisy ones. Our model achieves superior performance to state-of-the-art methods on two widely-used benchmark datasets. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Group Based Detection of Cryptocurrency Laundering Using Multi-Persona Analysis

Money laundering using cryptocurrency poses significant threats to the blockchain ecosystem. Due to the decentralized and anonymous nature of cryptocurrencies, detecting such laundering activities is difficult. Although substantial research has been conducted, almost all existing methods detect cryptocurrency laundering from an individual perspective, ignoring the fact that money laundering is typically a group behavior. Group information should be very helpful in laundering behavior analysis, but such laundering groups are hard to be recognized due to anonymity and diversity of purposes of cryptocurrency transactions. To address this challenge, we design a multi-persona grouping algorithm that can effectively group accounts into persona subgraphs. Then, we extract two subgraph features: cycle basis number and cycle overlapping ratio, and build an unsupervised model to evaluate laundering scores of each subgraph. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate that, compared with existing methods, our proposed method can improve detection accuracy by 17.4 percentage points on average. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work on group-based detection of cryptocurrency laundering. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

Learning early warning is of great significance for coping with students' learning risks. The existing research fails in modeling the fluctuation of students' learning states and providing the multi-level early warning for students at different levels. To address them, a new approach of learning early warning is proposed to predict at-risk students in e-learning environment by combining cognitive diagnosis with learning behaviors analysis. In this approach, the students' learning process is modeled from four dimensions, i.e., learning quality, learning engagement, latent learning state, and historical learning performance. The convolutional neural network and long short-term memory network are used to explore the students' latent learning features. Then, the Adaboost algorithm is applied to predict students' learning performance. Based on the predicted performance, the evaluation rules are designed to provide multi-level learning early warning for students. Finally, the experiments demonstrate that the proposed method could predict at-risk students efficiently and accurately. © 2023 IEEE.

Labanotation is an approach to record human movement with different distributions in space that have different representations of symbols. Motion capture is a technique that records the trajectory of an object in the time domain by tracking the motion of key points, observed using different sensors, and recorded in files. This paper is to manually mark the Labanotation based on 3D human motion capture data, to divide the 3D human motion into gaits and poses, and to record and represent different human movements and positions in space in the notation. This is an exploration of motion capture data to generate Labanotation, while also contributing to the preservation of folk-art forms. © 2023 SPIE.

Route optimization is a key core technology to optimize network traffic distribution, achieve network load balancing, and improve network performance. Traditional distributed networks widely run shortest-path based routing protocols, and the path of traffic is determined by the link weights of the distributed network, so routing optimization methods are usually optimized around the link weights of the network. Heuristics-based link weight optimization methods are widely used. However, heuristic methods rely on manually set rules, which are poorly generalized and cannot adapt well to dynamically changing traffic demands. Compared to heuristics, deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has the advantage of extracting more accurate feature representations in addition to its ability to handle high-dimensional state and action spaces. We propose a network link weight optimization method based on anti-symmetric deep graph networks (A-DGN) and reinforcement learning using a novel GNN framework anti-symmetric deep graph networks, where link weights are adjusted to reduce the network link utilization with the optimization objective of minimizing the maximum link utilization in the network. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves significant performance improvements in the link weight optimization problem in four real-world network topology scenarios.

We investigate the combined occurrence of edge faults and vertex faults in the burnt pancake graph (BPn). In this paper, we prove that BPn−F, where F includes pairs of end-vertices of matching edges and fault-tolerant edges, contains a Hamiltonian cycle when |F| ≤ n−2 and a Hamiltonian path when |F| ≤ n−3. This establishes that BPn is (n − 2)-hybrid fault Hamiltonian and (n − 3)-hybrid fault Hamiltonian connected for n ≥ 3. These results are demonstrated to be optimal under the given conditions, with all bounds shown to be tight. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Preserving details and avoiding high computational costs are the two main challenges for the High-Resolution Salient Object Detection (HRSOD) task. In this paper, we propose a two-stage HRSOD model from the perspective of evolution and succession, including an evolution stage with Low-resolution Location Model (LrLM) and a succession stage with High-resolution Refinement Model (HrRM). The evolution stage achieves detail-preserving salient objects localization on the low-resolution image through the evolution mechanisms on supervision and feature;the succession stage utilizes the shallow high-resolution features to complement and enhance the features inherited from the first stage in a lightweight manner and generate the final high-resolution saliency prediction. Besides, a new metric named Boundary-Detail-aware Mean Absolute Error (MAEBD) is designed to evaluate the ability to detect details in high-resolution scenes. Extensive experiments on five datasets demonstrate that our network achieves superior performance at real-time speed (49 FPS) compared to state-of-the-art methods. A Novel Method for Rapidly Solving Wideband RCS by Combining UCBFM and Compressive Sensing

While analyzing wideband electromagnetic scattering problems using ultra-wideband characteristic basis function method (UCBFM), the reconstruction of a reduced matrix and the recalculation of an impedance matrix at each frequency point cost a large amount of time. To overcome this issue, a novel method that combines UCBFM with compressive sensing (CS) is proposed in this paper to rapidly analyse the wideband RCS. The proposed method makes the ultra-wideband characteristic basis functions (UCBFs) generated at the highest frequency as the sparse basis, introduces the CS theory, randomly extracts several rows from the original matrix as the measurement matrix, utilizes the corresponding excitation vector as the measurement value, and then employs the recovery algorithm, through which the solution of target induced current can be obtained. Due to partial filling of impedance matrix and efficient recovery algorithm, the wideband RCS computation time of the object is significantly reduced using the proposed method. Furthermore, the numerical simulation results show that the computation efficiency for the target wideband RCS can be further enhanced compared with that of the stand-alone UCBFM. © 2022, Electromagnetics Academy.
