KAGRA, the underground and cryogenic gravitational-wave detector, was operated for its solo observation from February 25 to March 10, 2020, and its first joint observation with the GEO 600 detector from April 7 to April 21, 2020 (O3GK). This study presents an overview of the input optics systems of the KAGRA detector, which consist of various optical systems, such as a laser source, its intensity and frequency stabilization systems, modulators, a Faraday isolator, mode-matching telescopes, and a high-power beam dump. These optics were successfully delivered to the KAGRA interferometer and operated stably during the observations. The laser frequency noise was observed to limit the detector sensitivity above a few kilohertz, whereas the laser intensity did not significantly limit the detector sensitivity.

Changes in electroencephalography complexity of acute Ischemic stroke: A fuzzy approximate entropy analysis

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in the world. The previous study had shown that EEG (Electroencephalogram) was a promising tool to detect stroke since it is non-invasive and cheap. So, the EEG analysis method needs to be more explored to give an accurate prognosis assessment. Previously, complexity analysis, such as Fuzzy Approximate Entropy (fApEn), had been successfully differentiated between control and patients with Alzheimer's Disease. Thus, this study used fApEn to analyse the changes of electroencephalography complexity in Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) during hyperventilation and photic stimulation, which are a general protocol to investigate the abnormality in EEG. Photic stimulation conducted using white light that flashed with frequency 5Hz, 10Hz, and 15Hz consecutively for three minutes and then continued by hyperventilation for three minutes, approximately. This study compared the fApEn value from healthy subjects with AIS patients. The result showed that patient with AIS tended to conduct the lower and higher fApEn value compared to the healthy subject. The lower value of fApEn occurred because of the presence of the slow-waves on the EEG, while the higher fApEn indicated the epileptiform activity during the recording. The increment of the slow-waves and the presence of epileptiform activity could be considered as the characteristic of stroke even though its appearance is uncertain. However, complexity analysis of EEG could be useful in differentiating the healthy subject and patient with stroke or classifying the severity level of the stroke to improve stroke management.

A low-dimensional dynamical system is observed in an experiment as a high-dimensional signal;for example, a video of a chaotic pendulums system. Assuming that we know the dynamical model up to some unknown parameters, can we estimate the underlying system's parameters by measuring its time-evolution only once? The key information for performing this estimation lies in the temporal inter-dependencies between the signal and the model. We propose a kernel-based score to compare these dependencies. Our score generalizes a maximum likelihood estimator for a linear model to a general nonlinear setting in an unknown feature space. We estimate the system's underlying parameters by maximizing the proposed score. We demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the method using two chaotic dynamical systems - the double pendulum and the Lorenz'63 model. © 2020, CC BY.

In digital world, data and information is very valuable and much targeted by unauthorized parties. One way to secure messages is cryptography. Cryptography itself is a branch of science in concealing messages. In further development a hybrid cryptosystem was formed which combines symmetrical and asymmetric cryptography, which in this paper uses VMPC and Multi-Power.. The RSA Multi-Power algorithm is an asymmetric algorithm that is excellent at message encryption but requires a long process time because it uses very complicated calculations. While VMPC has advantages in the process with fast time and relatively small size of ciphertext. Here we have analyzed the performance of various variants of RSA that have been hybridized with VMPC and given the results.

Heavy metal pollution of water is a burning issue of today's world. Among several strategies involved for heavy metal remediation purpose, biomineralization has shown great potential. Of late, research has been focused on developing effective mineral adsorbents with reduced time and cost consumption. In this present paper, the Biologically-Induced Synthetic Manganese Carbonate Precipitate (BISMCP) was produced based on the biologically-induced mineralization method, employing Sporosarcina pasteurii in aqueous solutions containing urea and MnCl₂. The prepared adsorbent was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), SEM-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and BET surface area analyzer. EDX analysis showed the elements in the crystal BISMCP were Mn, C, and O. XRD result of BISMCP determined the crystal structure, which is close to rhodochrosite (MnCO₃). Spectral peaks of FTIR at 1641.79 cm⁻¹ confirmed the appearance of C[dbnd]O binding, with strong stretching of CO₃²⁻ in Amide I. From the six kinds of BISMCP produced, sample MCP-6 has the higher specific surface area by BET analysis at 109.01 m²/g, with pore size at 8.76 nm and higher pore volume at 0.178 cm³/g. These specifications will be suitable as an adsorbent for heavy metal removal by adsorption process. This study presents a preliminary analysis of the possibility of BISMCP for heavy metals adsorption using ICP multi-element standard solution XIII (As, Cr, Cd, Cu, Ni, and Zn). BISMCP formed from 0.1 MnCl₂ and 30 ml of bacteria volume (MCP-6) produced a better adsorbent material than others concentrations, with the adsorption efficiency of total As at 98.9%, Cr at 97.0%, Cu at 94.7%, Cd at 88.3%, Zn at 48.6%, and Ni at 29.5%. Future work could be examined its efficiency adsorbing individual heavy metals. © 2023

We present kinematics of 6 local extremely metal-poor galaxies (EMPGs) with low metallicities (0.016 − 0.098 Z☉) and low stellar masses (104.7 − 107.6M☉). Taking deep medium-high resolution (R ∼ 7500) integral-field spectra with 8.2-m Subaru, we resolve the small inner velocity gradients and dispersions of the EMPGs with Hα emission. Carefully masking out sub-structures originated by inflow and/or outflow, we fit 3-dimensional disk models to the observed Hα flux, velocity, and velocity-dispersion maps. All the EMPGs show rotational velocities (vrot) of 5-23 km s−1 smaller than the velocity dispersions (σ0) of 17-31 km s−1, indicating dispersion-dominated (vrot/σ0 = 0.29−0.80 gas 0.9 − 1.0. Comparing our results with other Hα kinematics studies, we find that vrot/σ0 decreases and fgas increases with decreasing metallicity, decreasing stellar mass, and increasing specific star-formation rate. We also find that simulated high-z (z ∼ 7) forming galaxies have gas fractions and dynamics similar to the observed EMPGs. Our EMPG observations and the simulations suggest that primordial galaxies are gas-rich dispersion-dominated systems, which would be identified by the forthcoming James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) observations at z ∼ 7. Security is an important aspect in communicating using information technology. SMS is a service provided by mobile phones to communicate by sending short messages quickly and cheaply. Short message delivery is done by SMS network, so the messages are not sent directly to the destination mobile phone. Therefore the messages that are sending by the SMS service need to be protected, so the security of the messages sent to the SMS network remains protected by its confidentiality. In this study the software will be built to improve the security of messages on SMS communication. The software that is built serves to encrypt messages that will be sent and decrypt messages with entered through the SMS service. Software built using the 3DES (Triple Data Encryption Standard) algorithm. The 3DES algorithm is a flow algorithm (block cipher) which belongs to the type of symmetry key cryptography system. The implementation of the 3DES algorithm on software that is built using the Java-based programming language Java. So only software that uses the Android operating system can use this encryption and decryption application. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
