In this article we consider likelihood-based estimation of static parameters for a class of partially observed McKean-Vlasov (POMV) diffusion process with discrete-time observations over a fixed time interval. In particular, using the framework of [5] we develop a new randomized multilevel Monte Carlo method for estimating the parameters, based upon Markovian stochastic approximation methodology. New Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms for the POMV model are introduced facilitating the application of [5]. We prove, under assumptions, that the expectation of our estimator is biased, but with expected small and controllable bias. Our approach is implemented on several examples. White Blood Cell(WBC)cancer or leukemia is one of the serious cancers that threaten the existence of human *** spite of its prevalence and serious consequences,it is mostly diagnosed through manual *** risks of inappropriate,sub-standard and wrong or biased diagnosis are high in manual ***,there is a need exists for automatic diagnosis and classification method that can replace the manual *** is mainly classified into acute and chronic *** current research work proposed a computer-based application to classify the *** the feature extraction stage,we use excellent physical properties to improve the diagnostic system’s accuracy,based on Enhanced Color Co-Occurrence *** study is aimed at identification and classification of chronic lymphocytic leukemia using microscopic images of WBCs based on Enhanced Virtual Neural Network(EVNN)*** proposed method achieved optimum accuracy in detection and classification of leukemia from WBC ***,the study results establish the superiority of the proposed method in automated diagnosis of *** values achieved by the proposed method in terms of sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,and error rate were 97.8%,89.9%,76.6%,and 2.2%,***,the system could predict the disease in prior through images,and the probabilities of disease detection are also highly optimistic.

After traumatic brain injury (TBI), clinicians use the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) to classify patients by severity and radiologists use the Rotterdam score and the Marshall score to classify CT scans by severity. This work investigates a viable efficient low cost transfer learning model to use MRI images to predict GCS, Rotterdam, and Marshall severity class after TBI. The enhanced transfer learning model architecture integrates multiple fine-tuning steps in which a few layers of the pre-trained model is unfrozen in each iteration so that the neural network is able to learn layer by layer further aspects of the image for better classification. By conducting a thorough evaluation across multiple convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures, this work ascertains the sensitivity of CNN models in detecting anatomical changes presented in MRI images that are predictive of severity class after TBI. These models have potential to predict outcomes after TBI. We utilize both quantitative metrics and qualitative analysis to validate the clinical relevance of the models in predicting severity class on admission and outcome at 6 months. The residual network models (ResNet152 in particular) outperformed the other models in predicting initial severity class.

DeePKS + ABACUS as a Bridge between Expensive Quantum Mechanical Models and Machine Learning Potentials

Recently, the development of machine learning (ML) potentials has made it possible to perform large-scale and long-time molecular simulations with the accuracy of quantum mechanical (QM) models. However, for different levels of QM methods, such as density functional theory (DFT) at the meta-GGA level and/or with exact exchange, quantum Monte Carlo, etc., generating a sufficient amount of data for training an ML potential has remained computationally challenging due to their high cost. In this work, we demonstrate that this issue can be largely alleviated with Deep Kohn-Sham (DeePKS), an ML-based DFT model. DeePKS employs a computationally efficient neural network-based functional model to construct a correction term added upon a cheap DFT model. Upon training, DeePKS offers closely matched energies and forces compared with high-level QM method, but the number of training data required is orders of magnitude less than that required for training a reliable ML potential. As such, DeePKS can serve as a bridge between expensive QM models and ML potentials: one can generate a decent amount of high-accuracy QM data to train a DeePKS model and then use the DeePKS model to label a much larger amount of configurations to train an ML potential. This scheme for periodic systems is implemented in a DFT package ABACUS, which is open source and ready for use in various applications. © 2022 The Journal of Physical Chemistry A. This research aims to analyze the effect of ozone exposure time and lard mixture on the polarization angle of transmission of olive oil. The study uses a transmission polarization method with a laser (λ = 532 nm) as a light source. The research sample in the form of olive oil mixed with lard at a concentration of 10, 20, 40, and 80%, with an ozone exposure time of 0-30 minutes. The sample is subjected to external electric fields with variations from 0-4.5 x 102 kV/m to increase the change's polarization angle. The results showed that the change in polarization angle would change linearly with the increase in lard concentration with olive oil. Olive oil with a low concentration of lard (10%) experienced an increase in the change in polarization angle with a value of 0.31 due to the effect of 90 minutes of ozone exposure. In general, the results of the study showed that increased concentrations of lard, ozone exposure time, electric field strengths caused an increase in changes in the polarization angle in a mixture of olive oil and lard. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Full-marathon and Half-marathon distances are categorized as road running. Full-marathon running is becoming increasingly popular, and Half-marathon is increasing worldwide in both sexes and all age groups. Some aspects might relate to Full-marathon and Half-marathon running performance during training and races. technology also plays an essential role in supporting runners and running races. technology like artificial intelligence (AI) now supports the running athlete, not only predicting performance and results. It can also be used later to help the coach generate training programs for the athlete. This research aimed to find many aspects of marathons and performance and analyze them to see if artificial intelligence could later support them. It used secondary data and a systematic literature review proposed by Kitchenham. Out of the 58 articles, 21 of them (36.21%) received a score of 1 from Q1. Additionally, 19 articles (32.76%) received a score of 1 from both Q2 and Q3. Among the 58 articles, 9 (15.52%) received a total score of 3, with all three Q1, Q2, and Q3 scores being 1. This indicates that artificial intelligence will likely support the content of these nine articles. Several factors were also discovered to be connected to marathons and athletic performance. These findings suggested that additional investigation into marathons and performance, later backed by artificial intelligence, remained pertinent and essential.

Wave power extraction by a dual OWC chambers over an undulated bottom

The impacts of sloping bottom and slanted impenetrable wall on dual oscillating water columns (OWCs) with a slanted front wall are examined. To tackle the physical model, a coupled eigenfunction expansion — boundary element system is employed. The concept is based on employing the anticipated amplification of scattered and reflected wave fields generated by the existence of sloping walls to enhance the absorption of wave power driven by the walls’ wave reflections. The study concludes that 100% efficiency occurs for smaller incident wave angles. It is also observed that compared with short waves, the efficiency of the device is more in the long-wave region. OWCs are observed to be more effective over the undulating bottom and sloping impermeable wall with an increased spacing between the water columns and the second OWC to the impermeable wall. Additionally, the chambers’ width and the sloping bottom angle are vital parameters for higher power extraction from the OWCs. Furthermore, the optimal values of slope bottom and wall inclination may be employed to build and implement an efficient OWC device. Moreover, the proposed model can also be used as a breakwater to protect the coastline. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

Effects of topographical disturbances on flexural wave motion in a viscous fluid

Main causes of ground disturbances are geological events such as earthquakes, underwater gravity mass flows, volcanic eruptions, and bottom explosions. This paper investigates the effects of transitory ground disturbance on the generation of flexural waves in the presence of a thin floating elastic plate. The problem is formulated using the Stokes stream function and wave potential boundary value problems in a viscous fluid. The expression of the plate deflection is obtained as multiple infinite integrals using the Fourier and Laplace transforms, which is further solved by the steepest descent method. Three types of ground disturbances such as H 0 ( x ) = e ( − x 2 / 2 ) , H 0 ( x ) = e − | x | , and H 0 ( x ) = δ ( x ) are considered. The deflection of the floating elastic plate is investigated in connection to ground disturbances, fluid viscosity, and structural parameters such as mass per unit length of the plate and flexural rigidity. The study reveals that with higher viscosity and flexural rigidity, the amplitude of the plate deflection is reduced. Moreover, these two parameters play a great role in the reduction of plate deflection. © 2024 Author(s).

Skin pathologies encompass a spectrum of conditions, with malignancies such as melanoma representing a critical diagnostic urgency. This investigation delineates the deployment of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for the classification of dermatological anomalies, benchmarking CNN diagnostic fidelity against dermatological expert evaluations. The study underscores the efficacy of CNN classifiers in expediting the diagnostic workflow for various cutaneous disorders. Advocating for an automated diagnostic framework, the research introduces a CNN-based system aimed at reducing human diagnostic load, accelerating diagnostic timelines, and enhancing survival outcomes. Utilizing advanced image processing algorithms and deep learning architectures, the research presents an automated classification system for skin pathologies, addressing both benign and malignant presentations. The classification matrix includes nine dermatological conditions: actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, benign keratosis, dermatofibroma, melanoma, nevus, seborrheic keratosis, squamous cell carcinoma, and vascular lesions. The objective is to engineer a CNN model with robust diagnostic performance across a diverse lesion dataset, ensuring accurate identification and categorization of dermatological conditions.

Parallel Approximations for High-Dimensional Multivariate Normal Probability Computation in Confidence Region Detection Applications

Addressing the statistical challenge of computing the multivariate normal (MVN) probability in high dimensions holds significant potential for enhancing various applications. For example, the critical task of detecting confidence regions where a process probability surpasses a specific threshold is essential in diverse applications, such as pinpointing tumor locations in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan images, determining hydraulic parameters in groundwater flow issues, and forecasting regional wind power to optimize wind turbine placement, among numerous others. One common way to compute high-dimensional MVN probabilities is the Separation-of- Variables (SOV) algorithm. This algorithm is known for its high computational complexity of O(n3) and space complexity of O(n2), mainly due to a Cholesky factorization operation for an n × n covariance matrix, where n represents the dimensionality of the MVN problem. This work proposes a high-performance computing framework that allows scaling the SOV algorithm and, subsequently, the confidence region detection algorithm. The framework leverages parallel linear algebra algorithms with a task-based programming model to achieve performance scalability in computing process probabilities, especially on largescale systems. In addition, we enhance our implementation by incorporating Tile Low-Rank (TLR) approximation techniques to reduce algorithmic complexity without compromising the necessary accuracy. To evaluate the performance and accuracy of our framework, we conduct assessments using simulated data and a wind speed dataset. Our proposed implementation effectively handles high-dimensional multivariate normal (MVN) probability computations on shared and distributed-memory systems using finite precision arithmetics and TLR approximation computation. Performance results show a significant speedup of up to 20X in solving the MVN problem using TLR approximation compared to the reference dense solution without sacrificing the
