Much of the recent efforts on salient object detection (SOD) have been devoted to producing accurate saliency maps without being aware of their instance labels. To this end, we propose a new pipeline for end-to-end salient instance segmentation (SIS) that predicts a class-agnostic mask for each detected salient instance. To better use the rich feature hierarchies in deep networks and enhance the side predictions, we propose the regularized dense connections, which attentively promote informative features and suppress non-informative ones from all feature pyramids. A novel multi-level RoIAlign based decoder is introduced to adaptively aggregate multi-level features for better mask predictions. Such strategies can be well-encapsulated into the Mask R-CNN pipeline. Extensive experiments on popular benchmarks demonstrate that our design significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art competitors by 6.3% (58.6% vs. 52.3%) in terms of the AP metric. Underwater images contain an interactive mixture of distortions due to the physicochemical property of water and the instability of imaging systems, which differ from those in natural images. We cannot obtain the pristine underwater image as the reference applied in the traditional benchmark databases, and the groups of gradual distortions either. In this paper, a novel preselection based preference label evaluation method is proposed to construct a combined subjective test procedure for an extended preference judgment dataset of underwater images. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first subjective evaluation procedure for underwater images, and also a solution for an expanding visual preference benchmark database. We demonstrate the excellent correlation of the proposed subjective evaluation with the traditional image quality assessment. It is also proven that the proposed subjective evaluation procedure could reflect the slight change of image quality and the authentic quality of a picture more accurately better than the traditional methods. © 2019 IEEE Computer Society. In recent years, with the continuous expansion of network communication scale, the types of niche protocols and various proprietary communication protocols are increasing day by day, but botnet and various network attacks have also emerged in endlessly. However, most of the commonly used network protocol recognition software uses a single method, and can only identify specific network data packets or data streams, the degree of automation is low, and the recognition accuracy is not high. In view of the above situation, this paper takes the bit flow protocol data frame as the research object, takes the multi-protocol recognition as the goal, and carries on the protocol feature recognition by comparing the data flow characteristics and the evaluation index. The features of the protocol to be detected are compared with the existing protocol features of the feature base, and the similarity between each protocol is judged. The extracted composite features are digitalized to generate 0-1 matrix, and clustering analysis is completed. The frame vector quantification algorithm of message data is designed and implemented to improve the clustering efficiency. The experimental results show that, compared with the traditional algorithm, the protocol eigenvector algorithm improves the accuracy by 15%, which can make the unknown protocol format be generated faster.

In this paper, a simulation environment for evaluating the effectiveness and performance cost of moving target defense (MTD) is presented. This simulation environment is based on SimPy, which is a process-based discrete-event simulation framework worked on standard Python. In our MTD simulation environment, we develop a typical topology to contain different deployments of moving target (MT) techniques. Meanwhile, processes of attackers, defenders, services, and users are analyzed and modeled in the simulation environment, which also provides an extendable interface for MT technologies in the future. In the case study, we quantify the effectiveness and performance of MTD in the proposed simulation environment under several typical scenarios, none-MTD deployment, high-security strategy, high-performance strategy. The average attacking time, average processed requests, and average request’s processing time are used as metrics to assess different MTD strategies. Results show that our simulation environment provides an efficient and intuitionistic method for evaluating the effectiveness and performance of MTD and helping to choose a more optimal strategy set for MTD. © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.

Quantum key distribution (QKD) [1–3] provides secure keys resistant to code-breaking quantum computers. The continuous-variable version of QKD [1, 4–6] offers the advantages of higher secret key rates in metropolitan areas, as well as the use of standard telecom components that can operate at room temperature [7–10]. However, the transmission distance of these systems (compared with discrete-variable systems) are currently limited and considered unsuitable for long-distance distribution [11]. Herein, we report the experimental results of long distance continuous-variable QKD over 202.81 km of ultralow-loss optical fiber by suitably controlling the excess noise and employing highly-efficient reconciliation procedures. This record-breaking implementation of the continuous-variable QKD doubles the previous distance record and shows the road for long-distance and large-scale secure QKD using room-temperature standard telecom components. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is an efficient nature-inspired optimization algorithm, which has been widely applied in many engineering fields. The performance of particle swarm optimization (PSO) has been significantly influenced by velocity update strategy. Traditionally, each particle updates its velocity based on its historical best experience and the global best experience, which may make the swarm lose its diversity and lead to premature convergence. To strengthen the performance of PSO, this paper proposes an improved PSO with the velocity-driven strategy (VD-PSO). In VD-PSO algorithm, the particles whose velocities are driven by better velocities focus on exploitation. The historical velocities, such as better velocities, may effectively characterize the landscape information of the optimization problems. In addition, the particles focus on exploration through information exchange amongst velocities. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, experiments are conducted with CEC2014 test problems. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for solving the global optimization problems. © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.

Digital rights management of the 3 D contents is a crucial open issue in the 3 D video industry. A novel robust fingerprinting algorithm is proposed for protecting the copyright of the 3 D video. Unlike the existing algorithms extracting visual features separately from the 2 D videos and the depth maps, in our algorithm a novel local stereo space is constructed according to the depth information of the pixels around the extracted local feature points in the 2 D videos, and the 3 D videos are processed in a holistic manner. In the proposed space,the 3 D-transform-feature is extracted and aggregated into a feature matrix, and then the compact 3 D video fingerprints are obtained from the eigenspace of the matrix. Our comprehensive experiments are conducted on a 3 D video database, and the results have demonstrated the robustness and discrimination of the proposed algorithm. Moreover, our fingerprints cost less storage spaces than the existing approaches.

With the development of Software-Defined Networking (SDN), privacy and security issues have become an urgent problem to be solved. Although there are many ways to solve these problems, the existing technology represented by encryption cannot effectively deal with traffic analysis attacks, and there are also key management problems. For this reason, we propose a privacy protection method for SDN data transmission based on multipath, including path searching procedure for searching for all paths between the sender and the receiver, and path filtering procedure for filtering out paths to reduce path correlation, and path selection procedure for randomly selecting one path to disturbed the traffic similarity between multiple transmission. The experiment results show that our method is more effective, less similarity of traffic compared with Multipath-Floyd method and single-path method, respectively. New energy storage vehicles which use supercapacitors (SCs) as the unique source of traction power are developing rapidly recently. To satisfy the operating voltage requirement of energy storage vehicle, hundreds of SCs are needed to be connected in series. In this case, there is a voltage imbalance between the energy storage cells during rapid charging, resulting in reduced energy efficiency and service life of the energy storage device. A layered equalisation scheme is proposed to solve the problem of voltage imbalance. A single-input multiple-output synchronous rectification equalising circuit is proposed to ensure voltage consistency of series supercapacitor monomer in bottom module. The proposed circuit resolves the existing slow balancing speed and low-voltage balancing precision problems in the current supercapacitor equalising circuits. Meanwhile, an equalisation strategy based on module SOC is adopted to solve voltage imbalance problem of the upper supercapacitor module. The results of MATLAB/Saber co-simulation and experiment demonstrate that the layered equalisation system achieves the target of fast equilibrium and high precision balance. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and *** right reserved.
