Evaluation of the falling risk is significant for older people not to fall and become in need of care. The static posturography test is adopted to evaluate the lack of balance ability that causes the falling. This test measures the center of pressure (COP) of humans and evaluates it by analyzing the data. There are three main analysis methods: descriptive statistics, stabilogram diffusion analysis (SDA), and mathematical modeling. Descriptive statistics and SDA represent only statistical values without the mechanism of the posture control system. However, mathematical modeling evaluates the system from the model coefficients containing physical meanings, and we focus on it. The stochastic differential equation of stiffness, viscosity, and stochastic terms are introduced to the mathematical model for the static posturography test. The COP trajectory reproducibility of the model is evaluated using SDA. SDA is a time-based analysis suitable for evaluating the dynamic posture control system. In the experiment, we compare the SDA parameters between older and younger subjects and evaluate the reproducibility of the model using the SDA parameters. As a result, we confirm that the SDA parameters can classify based on age to a certain extent, and the model has higher reproducibility than the conventional model against SDA. © 2022 IEEE.

Landsat images are essential in geoinformatics and earth observation. However, clouds frequently contaminate satellite images, making cloud removal increasingly necessary due to the growing demand for satellite imagery applications. In order to improve the quality of Landsat imagery, we suggest a novel Time-Varying Features Neural Network (TVFN-N) that consists of several modules: cloud detection, a learning module, feature fusion, and image reconstruction. Metrics including the Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Peak Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR) are used to assess how effective the reconstructed images are as individuals. Our tests show that the suggested strategy is quantitatively successful, obtaining an RMSE of less than 0.0179. TVFN-N shows significant improvement in reconstructing Landsat images using multitemporal methods compared to older deep learning techniques. Additionally, we compared our approach using cutting-edge deep learning models and produced more accurate outcomes for jobs involving cloud removal. © 2024 IEEE.

Achieving continuous motions typically requires dynamic external stimuli for cyclic deformation,or crafted geometries with intricate modules to form a self-regulated feedback loop upon static *** is still a grand challenge to realize self-sustained motion in soft robots subject to unchanging environment,without complex geometry or a control *** this work,we report soft robots based on an anisotropic cylindrical hydrogel showing self-regulated,continuous rolling motions under constant light *** robots are animated by mirror-symmetry-breaking induced by photothermal strain *** self-sustained motion is attributed to the fast and reversible deformation of the gel and the autonomous refresh of the irradiated region during the rolling *** hydrogel robots can reach a rolling speed of 1.27 mm·s^(-1)on a horizonal surface and even climb a ramp of 18°at a speed of 0.57 mm·s^(-1)in an aqueous ***,the hydrogel robots can overcome an obstacle,with rolling direction controllable through irradiation angle of the light and local irradiation on selective *** work suggests a facile strategy to develop hydrogel robots and may provide unforeseen inspirations for the design of self-regulated soft robots by using other intelligent materials.

Natural dyes serve as a benign alternative to their synthetic counterparts, offering a sustainable option that directly mitigates the release of toxic chemicals. In this study, cotton fabrics were dyed with neem leaf extract in acidic, neutral and alkaline condition where samples were mordanted with lemon juice. The findings revealed a direct correlation between colour strength (K/S) and pH levels, and optimal fastness properties were achieved under alkaline pH conditions when a mordant was employed. The Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) ensured the elemental composition of lemon juice assisted dyed fabric which indicates the effective binding of cotton fabric with neem leaves extracted dye. The Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy analysis also confirmed the interaction of cotton fabric with dye particles. The results indicate that cotton fabric can be successfully dyed with neem leaf extract and lemon juice as the biomordant, presenting an eco-friendly and sustainable approach to dyeing practices. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

The control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) is a critical device in nuclear plants. This paper proposes a kind of CRDM applying the cylindrical linear induction motor (CLIM). First, the structure and the working principle are introduced. Second, the finite-element method (FEM) is applied to analyze the electromagnetic characteristics of CRDM. The lifting force variation curves with different electromagnetic and structural parameters are obtained. Third, the thermal analysis is carried out by FEM. The steady-state thermal distribution and temperature of each component of CRDM are obtained. All the above results show that the proposed CRDM can meet the design criteria and such functions as rising, falling, and holding still. © 2023 IEEE.

The Li-Mg-B-H composite(2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2))is acknowledged as a promising material for hydrogen storage due to its large hydrogen capacity(11.4 wt.%).However,the sluggish kinetics and poor reversibility make it difficult to be practically *** this work,the hydrogen storage performances of 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2)have been significantly improved by a hybrid of bulk NbC and layered Nb_(4)C_(3)MXene(denoted as“Nb-C”).The 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2)+6 wt.%Nb-C can release 8.5 wt.%H_(2)within 30 min at 400℃and the dehy-drogenated composite can absorb 9.3 wt.%H_(2)within 30 min at 350℃and 7.5 MPa H_(2).The reversible dehydrogenation capacity maintains at 8.4 wt.%after 24 cycles,with a capacity retention ratio of 95.4%.By contrast,the undoped 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2)suffers from serious capacity degradation,with the capacity decreased dramatically to 3.5 wt.%after 3 *** studies revealed that the doped com-posite has uniform particle and elemental distributions and possesses various multiphase interfaces of LiH/MgB_(2)/NbC/Nb_(4)C_(3),which is beneficial to hydrogen diffusion during the hydrogen uptake and release *** studies by first principle calculation presented an extended bond length of the Mg-H and B-H bonds in the 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2)+NbC system,which may also explain the improved hydrogen storage properties of 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2)by addition of *** work provides new insights into the role of transition metal carbides in regulating the Li-Mg-B-H hydrogen storage materials both experimentally and theoretically.

The control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) is a kind of servo mechanism for the reactor control system of the nuclear power plant. This paper presents a cylindrical linear induction motor suitable for the CRDM. First, the structure of the CRDM is introduced. Second, the relationship between the main dimensions and the electromagnetic load is derived. Third, the influence of materials of the mover shielding shell, speed, and electromagnetic parameters on the lifting force is analyzed by the finite-element method (FEM). Meanwhile, the steady-state temperature of each component of the CRDM is obtained. Finally, a scaled-down prototype is manufactured to verify the rationality of the design. The test results show that the FEM results are consistent with the experimental results, and the essential functions such as lifting, lower insertion, and maintenance can be realized. © 2023 IEEE.

Cluster-preserving sampling algorithm for large-scale graphs

Graph sampling is a very effective method to deal with scalability issues when analyzing largescale graphs. Lots of sampling algorithms have been proposed, and sampling qualities have been quantified using explicit properties(e.g., degree distribution) of the sample. However, the existing sampling techniques are inadequate for the current sampling task: sampling the clustering structure, which is a crucial property of the current networks. In this paper, using different expansion strategies, two novel top-leader sampling methods(i.e., TLS-e and TLS-i) are proposed to obtain representative samples, and they are capable of effectively preserving the clustering structure. The rationale behind them is to select top-leader nodes of most clusters into the sample and then heuristically incorporate peripheral nodes into the sample using specific expansion strategies. Extensive experiments are conducted to investigate how well sampling techniques preserve the clustering structure of graphs. Our empirical results show that the proposed sampling algorithms can preserve the population's clustering structure well and provide feasible solutions to sample the clustering structure from large-scale graphs.
