Human Emotion Recognition (HER) has become a crucial application within computer vision and artificial intelligence, facilitating advancements in human-computer interaction, robotics, and other domains. Among the myriad approaches, Facial Expression Recognition (FER) systems stand out as a prominent method for automated emotion detection. In this paper, we conduct an extensive survey of the diverse techniques, modalities, and datasets employed for emotion recognition, with primary emphasis on non-verbal cues, and facial expressions. We delve into the significance of facial landmark detection, a critical task in numerous applications such as face recognition and emotion detection. Using real-time data frames, we focus on leveraging the capabilities of the open-source MediaPipe Face Mesh, a real-time face geometry framework capable of estimating 468 3D face landmarks, to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of landmark detection. We evaluate its performance with two other open-source models namely DLIB and OpenPose and check their efficacy. From the results, it is observed that MediaPipe Face Mesh offers real-time performance and high accuracy, making it suitable for real-world applications with stringent latency requirements. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper is concerned with the requirements of current distance learning of circuit principle experiment of automation specialty, automatic fault detection of experimental equipment, automatic fault isolation, uninterrupted experiment in case of fault, and maintaining the number of available equipment. Specifically, based on the networked control system laboratory (NCSLab) architecture, digital twin, remote control technology and circuit design, aiming at the circuit experiment principle course, the digital twin are realized by Simulink, and a digital twin circuit principle experiment system(DT-CPES) is designed and implemented. The designed system shows that the system can realize the sharing of experimental equipment, the digital twin can predict, and can also verify with the actual measurement data of the circuit experiment. Through the digital twin fault isolation controller(DT-FIC), the fault diagnosis, fault isolation and replacement output of the experimental equipment can be realized. Therefore, the developed system reduces the overall risk and cost of installation and maintenance of large-scale circuit experiments, and provides fault-tolerant redundancy for the experimental system with low computational burden and high reliability. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

The exploitation of photovoltaic/thermal(PV/T)systems,which facilitate concurrent conversion of solar radiation into electrical and heat energies,presents substantial potential in the solar-abundant northwestern zone of *** investigation endeavors to evaluate the efficacy of a micro heat pipe(M-HP)PV/T system via exhaustive experimental analysis conducted in *** improve the performance of M-HP-PV/T system,a comparison was made between the optimal angles for each day and the entire *** system inside greenhouse exhibited an average photovoltaic conversion efficiency(PCE)and thermal conversion efficiency(TCE)of12.32%and 42.81%.The system of external environment registered average PCE and TCE values of 12.99%and21.08%.To further understand the system's operational results,a mathematical model was constructed through the integration of experimental data,exhibiting good agreement between the simulated outcomes and empirical *** average solar irradiance of daily optimum angle was 728.3 W/m^(2);the annual optimum angle was 29°with an average solar irradiance of 705.6 W/m^(2).The average annual total powers at the optimal angle outside the greenhouse and inside the greenhouse were 448.0 W and 398.7 *** average annual total efficiencies at the optimal angle outside the greenhouse and inside the greenhouse were 40.8%and 56.9%.The total power in the greenhouse was lower by 49.3 W,while total efficiency in the greenhouse was higher by 16.1%.

In healthcare, Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a technique to improve clinical decision support, patient care, and medical research. By automating clinical recording, NLP enhances the calibre of medical records and professional communication. It makes Electronic Health Records (EHRs) easier to use by facilitating quick and easy data entry, retrieval, and access to vital patient data that helps with precise diagnosis and efficient treatment planning. Through the analysis of patient-specific data, NLP supports clinical decision support by delivering prompt recommendations. Chatbots and virtual assistants managing repetitive duties like booking appointments also improve patient connection. NLP makes it easier to analyse vast amounts of literature for medical research, facilitating the extraction and summary of important discoveries. Healthcare data processing requires text preparation, sentiment analysis, Named Entity Recognition (NER), semantic parsing, and Natural Language Generation (NLG). However, there are obstacles to overcome, like bias, ethical concerns, system integration, privacy, and data quality. The healthcare industry can use NLP to enhance patient outcomes, promote personalized medication, and streamline healthcare delivery by guaranteeing interoperability and setting standards. © 2024 IEEE.

This article provides a concise overview of the burgeoning field of deep learning in brain connectivity analysis. It defines the concept, explores functional and structural connectivity, outlines practical applications, delves into the algorithms involved, compares traditional methods vs advanced deep learning approaches for brain connectivity and highlights its revolutionary impact in clinical practice. In deep learning, brain connectivity investigates neural links using advanced artificial intelligence. Functional connectivity, powered by deep neural networks, reveals patterns in brain activity linked to cognition, emotion, and decision-making. Structural connectivity, often utilizing graph neural networks, reconstructs intricate neural pathways. This technology shows significant progress in diagnosing conditions like Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, and autism. Electrohydrodynamics (EHD) is a thrust force produced when high voltage is applied to two electrodes, and actuators using EHD are expected to reduce equipment size and the effects of friction. However, the EHD effect of multiple anode electrodes has yet to be verified and should be considered when fabricating a multi-degree-of-freedom actuator using EHD. This paper examines the relationship between the applied voltage and the generated EHD to verify the effect of multiple anode electrodes on the EHD. Experiments were conducted using a device with two anode electrodes at right angles and another with two parallel electrodes. The results showed that the two anode electrodes placed at right angles interfered with each other, and the generated forces were not superposed. The direction of the generated force was approximately 45 deg. When the electrodes were placed horizontally, it was confirmed that the generated forces were superposed, indicating that the arrangement, not the number of anode electrodes, was the cause of the interference. © 2023 IEEE.

Since Industry 5.0 emphasizes that manufacturing enterprises should raise awareness of social contribution to achieve sustainable development, more and more meta-heuristic algorithms are investigated to save energy in manufacturing systems. Although non-dominated sorting-based meta-heuristics have been recognized as promising multi-objective optimization methods for solving the energy-efficient flexible job shop scheduling problem (EFJSP), it is hard to guarantee the quality of the Pareto front (e.g., total energy consumption, makespan) due to the lack of population diversity. This is mainly because an improper individual comparison inevitably reduces population diversity, thus limiting exploration and exploitation abilities during population updates. To achieve efficient population evolution, this paper introduces a novel space-cooperation multi-objective optimization (SCMO) method that can effectively solve EFJSP to obtain scheduling schemes with better trade-offs. By cooperatively evaluating the similarity among individuals in both the decision space and objective space, we propose a space-cooperation population update method based on a three-vector representation that can accurately eliminate repetitive individuals to derive higher-quality Pareto solutions. To further improve search efficiency, we propose a difference-driven local search, which selectively changes the positions of operations with higher differences to search for neighbors effectively. Based on the Taguchi method, we conduct experiments to obtain a suitable parameter combination of SCMO. Comprehensive experimental results show that, compared to state-of-the-art methods, our SCMO method achieves the highest HV and NR and the lowest IGD, with an average of 0.990, 0.952, and 0.001, respectively. Meanwhile, compared to traditional local search approaches, our difference-driven local search obtains twice the HV on instance Mk12 and reduces the solving time from 1521 s to 475 s. © 2016 IEEE.

Sentiment analysis, which aims to extract information from textual data indicating people's ideas or attitudes about a particular problem, has developed into one of the most exciting study issues in natural language processing (NLP) with the development of social media. Twitter is a social network with an extensive audience that expresses their thoughts and opinions clearly and readily. Due to the prevalence of slang phrases and incorrect spellings in short phrase styles, Twitter data analysis is more challenging than data analysis from other social networks. Automated feature selection still has several limitations, such as higher computing costs that rise with the number of characteristics. Deep learning, which is self-learned and more accurate at processing vast amounts of data, is utilized to overcome these challenges. This paper introduces a conditional generative adversarial network (GAN) for Twitter sentiment analysis, whereas a convolutional neural network (CNN) has been used to extract traits from Twitter data. Compared to existing works, the proposed work has outperformed in accuracy, recall, precision, and F1 score. The suggested method is the most accurate, with a classification accuracy of 93.33 %. © 2024
