Nowadays, the bendable lithium-ion battery has been an important power source for current smart electrical devices. This requires an effectively free-standing flexible electrode membrane that conveys high electrochemical performance, while capable of great flexibility. One of the key components to promote bendable fabrication is the functionalized binders that should be compatible with the electrode materials and strongly hold the cell structure. Recently, the rapid growth of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries has left tons of gelatin waste. Regarding its multi-carboxy and amino functional groups, it can be expected to serve as a promising binding agent for the electrode material. Currently, TiO 2 has been widely applied as the potential anode material providing high stability for lithium-ion battery. Hence, this work is aimed to fabricate the free-standing flexible anode membranes for lithium-ion batteries by using TiO 2 nanosheets as the high specific surface area active material in conjunction with the gelatin based-binder. The TiO 2 nanosheets were prepared via a hydrothermal process and then composited with carbon nanotubes to increase their conductivity. Meanwhile, the waste gelatin was modified to become a polymerizable substrate for being a functional binder holding the flexible membrane. Material characterization results revealed the successful formation of the anatase TiO 2 nanosheets and the functionalized gelation-derived binder. The electrochemical performance of the proposed composite anode membrane showed a superior specific capacity over the same TiO 2 -based composite anode but employing the typical Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF). We show that the internal quality factors of high-impedance superconducting resonators made of granular aluminum can be improved by coating them with micrometric films of solid parahydrogen molecular crystals. We attribute the average measured ≈8% reduction in dissipation to the absorption of stray terahertz radiation at the crystal-resonator interface and the subsequent dissipation of its energy in the form of phonons below the pair-breaking gap. Our results prove that contrary to expectations, replacing the vacuum dielectric atop a superconducting resonator can be beneficial, thanks to the added protection against Cooper pair-braking terahertz radiation. Moreover, at the level of internal quality factors in the 105 range, the hydrogen crystal does not introduce additional losses, which is promising for embedding impurities to couple to superconducting thin-film devices in hybrid quantum architectures.

The lack of communication infrastructure in rural areas starts to be overcome with new wireless network technologies. In this context, LoRa (Long Range) wireless communication technology is seen as an alternative to provide networks with high quality and coverage for communication IoT (Internet-of Things) devices in this context. However, the use of wireless communication technologies in large spaces provides exposure to cybersecurity threats. In this paper, we present an experiment in a rural environment that exposes the susceptibility to vulnerability of LoRa devices when configured by ABP (Activation By Personalization) or OTAA (Over The Air Activation) activation. The results indicate that the ABP and OTAA methods present differences in parameters such as Airtime, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), and SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) of the transmitted packets, and this can be exploited by malicious applications to attack rural IoT applications. Therefore, understanding the behavior of activated devices in different ways can contribute to the mitigation and prevention of attacks, improving the performance of IoT applications in rural areas.
