A micro-hole fabrication scheme based on focus-shaped radially polarized beams is presented. First, a micro-hole fabrication system is demonstrated based on the focus shaping of radially polarized beams, where a high energy ultra-small spot with a long depth of focus can be obtained by focus shaping using the combination of a diffractive optical element (DOE) and a high numerical-aperture objective, and such focused spot is preferred to fabricate the micro-hole with a high ratio of depth and radius. Then, diffractive optical elements (DOEs) are designed to achieve such ultra-small spots with a long depth of focus using the global search algorithm, and the focus-shaped field intensities are calculated based on vector diffraction theory. Finally, a conclusion is drawn from the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, and focus-shaped radially polarized beams are suitable to fabricate the micro-hole with a high ratio of depth and radius. © 2013 SPIE.

Design of temperature control system for blackbody radiation source based on TEC

In order to ensure the stability of temperature of the blackbody radiation source, a high-performance, high-precision temperature control system is designed. This system is based on the thermo-electric cooler (TEC) which is controlled by ADN8830 automatically. The temperature of the blackbody radiation source is sensed by the Pt100 thermistor, and then the temperature signal is converted into the voltage signal by the temperature transmitter to ADN8830. The PID closed feedback loop is adopted for the temperature controlling. Through the test of the designed temperature control system, the result shows that the set-up time of this system is about 340 s and the temperature control accuracy is ±0.02°C.

The design based on avalanche photo diode (APD) is described in this paper to provide a extract the weak signal from the noise. The amplifying circuit based on negative feedback current input can realize high sensitivity, low noise amplifying, and the OPA657 chip is selected as the pre-amplifier. MAX280 active low-pass filter is used to suppress high frequency noise effectively and the output signal to noise ratio (SNR) is improved by 5 times. The theory analysis and the experiment results show that the minimum detection power of the circuit is about 7.9 nW to the light of 980 nm.

A novel method to generate cylindrical vector beams is presented based on a cat-eye cavity laser and a Mach-Zehnder interferometric arrangement. Some transverse modes can be generated by the cat-eye cavity laser and then superimposed by the Mach-Zehnder interferometric arrangement to form different kinds of cylindrical vector beams. First, simulations of four kinds of cylindrical vector beams based on four kinds of combinations of transverse modes are made and other situations are also discussed when the two beams are in-phase, 180° out-of-phase and with other phase difference. Then, an experimental set-up based on a cat-eye cavity laser and a Mach-Zehnder interferometric arrangement is built, and four forms of cylindrical vector beams generated by the experiment system. The experimental results agree well with the simulative results. © 2013 SPIE.

The computer network Attack and Defense is the important combat activity to get the information superiority in modern and future battlefields. In this paper, we try to apply the Lanchester equation of military confrontation to examine the network attack and defense. First, the network combat concerns are divided into two types according to their combat features, i.e. the point and area attack or defense; and then, an improved Lanchester equation model based on time action factor is proposed by means of combining the Lanchester second linear law with the square law and introducing a time action factor to describe the action of both sides of the combat; finally, some simulation results are given, and the affections of the loss coefficient of the point, area combat and the combat action time on the combat results are discussed to provide the basis for the network combat decision.

The importance of incremental learning in changing environments has been acknowledged in recent years. In this paper we present an ensemble learning method for supervised learning with drifting concepts. The method employs hypothesis test as mechanism for detecting concept drift and learns a base classifier for each new training data chunk. Former classifiers deemed as usable by the hypothesis test mechanism and the new classifiers are integrated to form the final classifiers ensemble for prediction. The main focus of the work is to identify the usability of base classifiers that representing the same or similar concept with the current one, make full use of the older valid information together with the newer examples to improve classification accuracy, and avoid the interference of classifiers representing conflictive concepts with the current one. Experiments with simulated concept drift scenarios compared the proposed method with other approaches. The results showed that the method could consistently recognize different types of drift, adapt quickly to these changes to maintain its performance level, and utilize the former knowledge to improve its performance for recurring context. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper proposes a method for classification of incomplete data using neural network ensembles. In the method, the incomplete data set is analyzed and projected into a group of complete data subsets that give a full description of the known values in the data set by joining together. Those complete data subsets are then used as the training sets for the neural networks. Base classifiers are selected and integrated according to their classification accuracies and the support degrees of their training data sets to give the final predication. Compared with other methods dealing with missing data in classification, the proposed method can utilize all the information provided by the incomplete data, maintain maximum consistency of the incomplete data set and avoid the dependency on distribution or model assumptions. Experiments on two UCI datasets showed the superiority of the algorithm to other two typical treatments of missing data in ensemble learning. © 2012 IEEE.

The design and fabrication of nanostmctures based on titanium dioxide （TiO2） have attracted much attention because of their low cost, non-toxicity, stability, and potential applications in industry and technology. Recently, one-dimensional （1 D） struc- tured titanates have been used as titanium source to prepare TiO2 nanostructures with various crystalline phases, shapes, sizes, exposed facets, and hierarchical structures. Among the synthetic strategies, hydrothermal method is a facile route to controlla- ble preparation of well-crystalline TiO2 in one step. Herein, we review our recent progress in transferring 1D titanates into TiO2 nanostructures through hydrothermal method, including the transformation mechanism and applications.
