Head injury of CHARM-70 FE model and a comparative study with Hybrid III and GHBMC model

In this paper, the Hybrid III FE head model is validated through dummy impact experiments firstly. Then, the CHARM-70 head model is developed, and the structure, head injury and dynamic mechanical response of the model are studied. Subsequently, the GHBMC head model is introduced to compare the dynamic mechanical response of the forehead to the steering wheel edge under the same speed with the Hybrid III and the CHARM-70. The result demonstrates that the CHARM-70 model has high biological fidelity. Meanwhile, due to different material properties, GHBMC model shows the best stiffness and force response, followed by CHARM-70 model, and finally Hybrid III model. Finally, the different setting of material parameters indicates a fine response to the decline rule of bone strength caused by human age, which is meaningful for the development of different age, body and other special population models in the future. © 2020 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

As the core foundation for naval strategic transformation and mission accomplishment, the command and control system is a complex electronic information system involving multiple elements, such as command and control, intelligence reconnaissance, early warning detection, communication and navigation, electronic countermeasures, integrated support, and combat personnel. With the transformation of naval strategic tasks, the command and control system has gradually evolved from a traditional single command and control to a multi-functional integrated system, which has raised a number of problems and challenges for the reliability design of the command and control system. This paper aims to provide efficient reliability allocation and accurate prediction for command and control system according to the structure of shipborne electronic information system. © 2020 IEEE.

The traffic situation at the urban intersection is complicated, the numerous internal conflict, kinds of and frequent accidents. With the objective to improve road safety, the automotive industry is moving toward more intelligent vehicles. One of the major challenges is accurately perceive the road traffic environment, detect potential driving conflicts before vehicle conflicts occur and propose alternative driving strategies to resolve conflicts. This paper summarizes the existing research on traffic conflict based on Intelligent Vehicle perception technology. Intelligent vehicles perceive the surrounding environment through environment perception technology, mainly rely on vehicle-borne sensing systems, such as vision system, radar system, etc. to obtain the surrounding road environment information, and detect obstacles to avoid collision and other measures to avoid conflict or reduce accidents. And through prediction algorithm, traffic risk assessment is carried out. At the same time, the existing technical problems are analyzed. Finally, the future development trend of this field is proposed. © 2019 IEEE.

This study investigates the in-situ radiation effects on NiO/β-Ga2O3 heterojunction diodes (HJDs) under 500 MeV Kr+ ions irradiation, with a fluence of 1×108 cm-2 at -200 V. The statistical results show that both the forward conductive and reverse blocking characteristics of the HJDs were degraded after the irradiation of Kr+ ions. Associated with the analysis of current-voltage characteristics and the SRIM simulation results, the performance degradations were attributed to the vacancies induced by Kr+ ions radiation in the β-Ga2O3 material. On the one hand, the Kr+ radiation-induced vacancies reduced the net carrier concentration of the β-Ga2O3 and increased the generation-recombination current, leading to increased specific on-resistance and ideality factor of the irradiated HJDs. On the other hand, an oxygen di-vacancies-related trap, set at 1.07±0.01 eV below the conduction band, was involved after Kr+ ions radiation, which enhanced the Poole-Frenkel emission process, dominating the higher leakage current of the irradiated HJDs beyond -300 V. These results provide valuable insights into the radiation damage and performance degradation mechanisms in β-Ga2O3-based devices for space applications. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

By detecting and processing the Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) signals to identify and estimate the defects in ferromagnetic materials or structures, for example, in the steel pipelines, the so called Magnetic Flux Leakage Testing (MFLT) technology has been widely used in industry. However, the existing MFLT technology is suitable for locating the defects and rough estimating their sizes based on enormous sample data, incapable to image their Three-Dimensional (3D) shapes and precise estimate their sizes, while the physical model associating the defect geometry details and the MFL signals were still unclear. In this study, (1) the effects of an actual 3D defect are taken into account by introducing a new concept, Depth Field over a surface, i.e., a matrix of loss of material on the testing surface of a structure;(2) the governing equations for the depth field and the MFL signals are derived;(3) an algorithm to reconstruct the 3D defect or the depth field based on the governing equations is developed. This new method does not require huge amount of pulling-test data for calibration purpose as the existing MFLT technology used in industry, and it has been verified via a series of tests with various defects of different shapes in pipelines, the results indicate it is valid for 3D defect reconstruction with high accuracy. © 2020 IEEE.

Recently, the emergence of topological electride catalysts has attracted significant attention in the fields of condensed matter physics, chemistry, and materials science. In this study, we found that electride Hf 2 Se exhibits various types of topological quantum states under the constraint of symmetric operations, particularly the Weyl point (WP) located at the K valley. The WP is closely aligned with the Fermi level and generates an extensive Fermi arc surface state on the (001) surface. In addition, electride Hf 2 Se exhibits a lower work function on the (001) surface. Remarkably, electride Hf 2 Se exhibits extremely high stability in both air and water environments. The catalytic activity of electride Hf 2 Se for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was significantly improved by utilizing its robust surface state and low work function. Therefore, we provide a new insight into the application of electrides in HER.

The response surface method (RSM) is frequently used to reduce the computational burden of structural reliability analysis. In this paper, an improved RSM is proposed. The response surface is fitted by the triple weighted regression technique, which integrates weighting systems to assign weight factors to each sampling point including (1) the absolute value of the limit state function (LSF), (2) the value of the joint probability density function and (3) the distance from the design point. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate that the proposed method gives more accurate results than RSM for both probability of failure (PoF) and LSF evaluations.

Congestion estimation is a significant issue to analyse and mitigate network congestion. Many researchers have used various estimation methods based on the load data of roads in a single moment. However, congestion is always node-centric and formed around intersections gradually. An estimation method to describe the average congestion around intersections or nodes is also valuable and needed to discover the most congested parts but is absent according to our literature researches. In this paper, we propose a node-centric network congestion method, which can evaluate the average spatiooral congestion scale around nodes. Based on the widely used simulation platform NetLogo, the simulation results have proved the reasonability of the proposed estimation method by the stable values of the fixed traffic network intersections, which becomes increasingly stable as time goes on, and it is found that the node-centric values calculated by our estimation method is more stable than the values by the edge-centric because of its superiority. This node-centric network congestion estimation method considering average spatiooral scale will be widely used because of its simplicity and universality. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
