In Situ Coupling of Reduction and Oxidation Processes with Alternating Current-Driven Bioelectrodes for Efficient Mineralization of Refractory Pollutants

The effective elimination of aromatic compounds from wastewater is imperative for safeguarding the ecological *** processes that combine cathodic reduction and anodic oxidation represent a promising approach for the biomineralization of aromatic ***,conventional direct current bioelectrochemical methods have intrinsic *** this study,a low-frequency and low-voltage alternating current(LFV-AC)-driven bioelectrode offering periodic in situ coupling of reduction and oxidation processes was developed for the biomineralization of aromatic compounds,as exemplified by the degradation of alizarin yellow R(AYR).LFV-AC stimulated biofilm demonstrated efficient bidirectional electron transfer and oxidation–reduction bifunctionality,considerably boosting AYR reduction(63.07%±1.91%)and subsequent mineralization of intermediate products(98.63%±0.37%).LFV-AC stimulation facilitated the assembly of a collaborative microbiome dedicated to AYR metabolism,characterized by an increased abundance of functional consortia proficient in azo dye reduction(Stenotrophomonas and Bradyrhizobium),aromatic intermediate oxidation(Sphingopyxis and Sphingomonas),and electron transfer(Geobacter and Pseudomonas).The collaborative microbiome demonstrated a notable enrichment of functional genes encoding azo-and nitro-reductases,catechol oxygenases,and redox mediator *** findings highlight the effectiveness of LFV-AC stimulation in boosting azo dye biomineralization,offering a novel and sustainable approach for the efficient removal of refractory organic pollutants from wastewater.

Synergistic surface restructuring and cation mixing via ultrafast Joule heating enhancing ultrahigh-nickel cathodes for advanced lithium-ion batteries

The implementation of ultrahigh-Ni cathodes in high-energy lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is constrained by significant structural and interfacial degradation during *** this study,doping-induced surface restructuring in ultrahigh-nickel cathode materials is rapidly facilitated through an ultrafast Joule heating *** functional theory(DFT)calculations,synchrotron X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS),and single-particle force test confirmed the establishment of a stable crystal framework and lattice oxygen,which mitigated H2-H3 phase transitions and improved structural ***,the Sc doping process exhibits a pinning effect on the grain boundaries,as shown by scanning transmission electron microscopy(STEM),enhancing Li~+diffusion kinetics and decreasing mechanical strain during *** in situ development of a cation-mixing layer at grain boundaries also creates a robust cathode/electrolyte interphase,effectively reducing interfacial parasitic reactions and transition metal dissolution,as validated by STEM and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry(TOF-SIMS).These synergistic modifications reduce particle cracking and surface/interface degradation,leading to enhanced rate capability,structural integrity,and thermal ***,the optimized Sc-modified ultrahigh-Ni cathode(Sc-1)exhibits 93.99%capacity retention after 100 cycles at 1 C(25℃)and87.06%capacity retention after 100 cycles at 1 C(50℃),indicating excellent cycling and thermal *** presenting a one-step multifunctional modification approach,this research delivers an extensive analysis of the mechanisms governing the structure,microstructure,and interface properties of nickel-rich layered cathode materials(NCMs).These results underscore the potential of ultrahigh-Ni cathodes as viable candidates for advanced lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)in next-generation electric vehicles(EVs).

Selenium-modified activated coke: a high-capacity and facile designed Hg0 adsorbent for coal-fired flue gas

The substantial amount of mercury emissions from coal-fired flue gas causes severe environmental contamination. With the Minamata Convention now officially in force, it is critical to strengthen mercury pollution control. Existing activated carbon injection technologies suffer from poor desulfurization performance and risk secondary-release risks. Therefore, considering the potential industrial application of adsorbents, we selected cost-effective and readily available activated coke (AC) as the carrier in this study. Four metal selenides—copper, iron, manganese, and tin—were loaded onto the AC to overcome the application problems of existing technologies. After 120 min of adsorption, the CuSe/AC exhibited the highest efficiency in removing Hg0, surpassing 80% according to the experimental findings. In addition, the optimal adsorption temperature window was 30–120 °C, the maximum adsorption rate was 2.9 × 10−2 mg·g−1·h−1, and the effectiveness of CuSe/AC in capturing Hg0 only dropped by 5.2% in the sulfur-containing atmosphere. The physicochemical characterization results indicated that the AC surface had a uniform loading of CuSe with a nanosheet structure resembling polygon and that the Cu-to-Se atomic ratio was close to 1:1. Finally, two possible Hg0 reaction pathways on CuSe/AC were proposed. Moreover, it was elucidated that the highly selective binding of Hg0 with ligand-unsaturated Se− was the key factor in achieving high adsorption efficiency and sulfur resistance in the selenium-functionalized AC adsorbent. This finding offers substantial theoretical support for the industrial application of this adsorbent. With the wide applications of unmanned aircraft, the flight safety of unmanned aircraft has attracted the attention of many scholars. The actuator controls the flight direction and attitude, and its actuating performance affects the whole unmanned aircraft. Real-time dynamic monitoring of actuator operation status is critical to unmanned aircraft flight safety. However, the existing fixed-threshold-based monitoring methods do not pay enough attention to the unmanned aircraft flight environment and operating conditions, resulting in false alarms or insufficient accuracy. This paper proposed a condition monitoring and quantitative assessment method of unmanned aircraft actuator based on radial basis function two-stage observer. We constructed the fault detection observer by fitting the relationship between the command signal and the position signal of the actuator, and the adaptive threshold observer is constructed by the command signal, output position, and standard threshold. The residuals between position signal and observer output represent the state of the actuator, and the dynamic threshold can reduce the interference of operational conditions in monitoring assessment results. Finally, we monitored the actuator performance of an unmanned aircraft during flight based on the proposed method. The results showed that the method accurately monitored and assessed the actuator under different flight conditions. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The concentrations of V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,As,Mo,Cd,and Pb were determined in Doulonggang River,Xinyanggang River,Huangshagang River,Sheyanghe River,Guangaizongqu River,and Linhonghe River at the North of Jiangsu Province in *** annual average concentrations of V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,As,Mo,Cd and Pb in the six rivers were 2.20,1.22,4.53,21.9,0.13,2.79,1.77,4.00,2.97,3.87,0.01,0.19μg L^(-1)*** highest concentration of most trace metals were found in Guangaizongqu River and Linhonghe River,and the lowest concentration were found in Xinyanggang River and Huangshagang *** principal component analysis(PCA)resulted of two factors together explained 91.2%of the variance with>1initial eigenvalue,indicating that both natural and anthropogenic activities were contributing factors as the source of metal abundance in rivers of northern Jiangsu *** first major component represented the influence of anthropogenic activities,including industry and agriculture,with a contribution rate of 54.1%,affected Cr,Fe,Cu,Zn,Mo,Cd and *** second(such as V,Mn,Co,Ni,As)was a mixed source,including the natural processes such as precipitation,erosion and weathering and anthropogenic action like industry and agriculture,with a contribution rate of 37.1%.Seasonal variations in trace metal concentrations were influenced by temperature,salinity,water discharge,and input of external *** highest concentrations were found in wet season and were strongly influenced by rainfall and seasonal industrial and agricultural activities.

The surface identification of integrated circuit (IC) has not been standardized yet, and the task of detecting IC logos is often carried out manually, which is prone to high subjectivity and low efficiency. Traditional machine learning methods still rely on prior knowledge and handcrafted features, which yield unsatisfactory performance. In order to improve the efficiency of logo detection tasks, this paper constructs a dataset for IC appearance and proposes a deep learning algorithm based on the latest single-stage object detection neural network YOLOv8. By introducing Global Attention Mechanism(GAM) into YOLOv8, the information diffusion is effectively reduced, and the deep information is extracted, allowing the neural network to learn more representative features and further improve the average precision. © 2024 SPIE.

Scanning Acoustic Microscope is a nondestructive and effective technology to detect the internal defects of chips, which is widely used in IC screening. However, at present, the ultrasonic defect detection mainly focuses on traditional visual inspection, which has the disadvantages of low efficiency and high false detection rate. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an ultrasonic defect YOLO detection algorithm by introducing and comparing three common attention modules (SENet, CBAM and ECANet). On the basis of YOLO-v4-tiny model, the attention module is embedded in the feature extraction backbone network to distinguish the importance of different channels in the feature map, strengthen the key features of the target area, and improve the detection accuracy of the network. The experimental results show that the algorithm based on CBAM attention module has better detection accuracy and efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.
