Impact of ozonation on disinfection byproducts formation from phenylalanine during chlorination

As a strong oxidizing agent,ozone is used in some water treatment facilities for disinfection,taste and odor control,and removal of organic ***(Phe)was used as the target amino acid to comprehensively investigate variability of disinfection byproducts(DBPs)formation during chlorine disinfection and residual chlorine conditions subsequent to *** results showed that subsequent to ozonation,the typical regulated and unregulated DBPs formation potential(DBPsFP),including trichloromethane(TCM),dichloroacetonitrile(DCAN),chloral hydrate(CH),dichloroacetic acid(DCAA),trichloroacetic acid(TCAA),and trichloroacetamide(TCAcAm)increased substantially,by 2.4,3.3,5.6,1.2,2.5,and 6.0 times,respectively,compared with only *** also significantly increased the DBPs yield under a 2 day simulated residual chlorine condition that mimicked the water distribution *** formations followed pseudo first order *** formation rates of DBPs in the first 6 hr were higher for TCM(0.214 hr^(−1)),DCAN(0.244 hr^(−1)),CH(0.105 hr^(−1)),TCAcAm(0.234 hr^(−1)),DCAA(0.375 hr^(−1))and TCAA(0.190 hr^(−1))than *** peak DBPsFP of TCM,DCAN,CH,TCAcAm,DCAA,and TCAA were obtained when that ozonation time was set at 5–15 *** times>30 min increased the mineralization of Phe and decreased the formation of DBPs upon *** bromine ion(Br^(−1))concentration increased production of bromine-DBPs and decreased chlorine-DBPs formation by 59.3%–92.2%.Higher ozone dosages and slight alkaline favored to reduce DBP formation and *** ozonation conditions should be optimized for all application purposes including DBPs reduction.

The Ninety East Ridge in the Indian Ocean has complex and unique *** concentrations and distribution characteristics of 10 trace metals(V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Cd,Pb,and U)in seawater from the Ninety East Ridge in the Indian Ocean were *** show that the average concentrations of different trace metals in all the collected seawater samples were 1.134μg/L for V,0.158μg/L for Cr,0.489μg/L for Mn,0.427μg/L for Fe,0.011μg/L for Co,0.395μg/L for Ni,0.403μg/L for Cu,0.097μg/L for Cd,0.139μg/L for Pb,and 3.470μg/L for *** in the horizontal and vertical distributions of all measured trace metals were revealed,and the occurrence of high concentrations was *** addition,the significant differences in the concentration distribution of different trace metals in seawater on both sides of the Ninety East Ridge present regional segmentation in the area for various trace metals in deep sea *** study provided basic data for future investigations on the environmental and ecological impact of trace metals in the Indian Ocean and the potential water mass transport mechanism.

Electroreduction of nitrate has been gaining wide attention in recent years owing to it's beneficial for converting nitrate into benign N_(2) from the perspective of electrocatalytic denitrification or into value-added ammonia from the perspective of electrocatalytic NH_(3) *** reason of the undesired formation of ammonia is dominant during electroreduction of nitrate-containing wastewater,chloride has been widely used to improve N_(2) ***,selective electroreduction of nitrate to N2 gas in chloride-containing system poses several *** this review,we focus on the key strategies for efficiently enhancing N_(2) selectivity of electroreduction of nitrate in chloride-free system,including optimal selection of elements,combining an active metal catalyst with another metal,manipulating the crystalline morphology and facet orientation,constructing core–shell structure catalysts,*** summarizing the strategies,four possible reaction pathways of electro-reduction of nitrate to N_(2) are ***,this review attempts to provide practical strategies for enhancing N2 selectivity without the aid of electrochlorination and highlight directions for future research for designing appropriate electrocatalyst for final electrocatalytic denitrifi-cation.

In order to enable computers to automatically detect the logo information of Integrated Circuit (IC) images and assist users in searching for the required IC manufacturer information based on the logo images, this article conducted research and analysis on the existing public datasets in the field of logo detection, and found that the existing public datasets cannot meet the specific research and application needs of this article. Therefore, the Integrated Circuit Logo (IC-LOGO) image dataset is presented in this article. The dataset contains 971 internal logo images from 17 manufacturers and 2091 external logo images from 30 manufacturers. Furthermore, the logo images were precisely positioned and annotated. Finally, a benchmark containing 8 different object detection networks was used to test the IC-LOGO dataset. The results show that all detectors trained on the dataset could detect the region and category of LOGO precisely and robustly. © 2024 IEEE.

Photothermal catalytic CO_(2) conversion provides an effective solution targeting carbon neutrality by synergistic utilization of photon and ***,the C-C coupling initiated by photothermal catalysis is still a big ***,a three-dimensional(3D)hierarchical W_(18)O_(49)/WTe_(2) hollow nanosphere is constructed through in-situ embodying of oxygen vacancy and tellurium on the scaffold of WO_(3).The light absorption towards near-infrared spectral region and CO_(2) adsorption are enhanced by the formation of half-metal WTe_(2) and the unique hierarchical hollow *** with the generation of oxygen vacancy with strengthened CO_(2) capture,the photothermal effect on the samples can be sufficiently exploited for activating the CO_(2) *** particular,the close contact between W_(18)O_(49)and WTe_(2) largely promotes the photoinduced charge separation and mass transfer,and thus the~*CHO intermediate formation and fixedness are *** a result,the C-C coupling can be evoked between tungsten and tellurium atoms on WTe_(2).The ethylene production by optimized W_(18)O_(49)/WTe_(2) reaches 147.6μmol g^(-1)with the selectivity of 80%.The in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS)and density functional theory(DFT)calculations are performed to unveil the presence and significance of aldehyde intermediate groups in C-C *** half-metallic WTe_(2) cocatalyst proposes a new approach for efficient CO_(2) conversion with solar energy,and may especially create a new platform for the generation of multi-carbon products.

Although biomass-derived carbon(biochar)has been widely used in the energy field,the relation between the carbonization condition and the physical/chemical property of the product remains ***,we revealed the carbonization condition's effect on the morphology,surface property,and electrochemical performance of the obtained *** open slit pore structure with shower-puff-like nanoparticles can be obtained by finely tuning the carbonization temperature,and its unique pore structure and surface properties enable the Li–O_(2) battery with cycling longevity(221 cycles with 99.8%Coulombic efficiency at 0.2 mA cm^(−2) and controlled discharge–charge depths of 500 mAh g^(−1))and high capacity(16,334 mAh g^(−1) at 0.02 mA cm^(−2)).This work provides a greater understanding of the mechanism of the biochar carbonization procedure under various pyrolysis conditions,paving the way for future study of energy storage devices.

Two-dimensional dumbbell silicene as a promising anode material for(Li/Na/K)-ion batteries

Rechargeable ion batteries require anode materials with excellent performance,presenting a key challenge for *** paper explores the potential of using two-dimensional dumbbell silicene as an anode material for alkali metal ion batteries through density functional theory(DFT)*** findings demonstrate that alkali metal ions have negative adsorption energies on dumbbell silicene,and the energy barriers for Li/Na/K ion diffusion are as low as0.032 e V/0.055 e V/0.21 e V,indicating that metal ions can easily diffuse across the entire surface of dumbbell ***,the average open circuit voltages of dumbbell silicene as anode for Li-ion,Na-ion,and K-ion batteries are 0.42 V,0.41 V,and 0.60 V,respectively,with corresponding storage capacities of 716 m Ah/g,622 m Ah/g,and 716 m Ah/*** results suggest that dumbbell silicene is an ideal anode material for Li-ion,Na-ion,and K-ion batteries,with high capacity,low open circuit voltage,and high ion diffusion ***,our calculations show that the theoretical capacities obtained using DFT-D2 are higher than those obtained using DFT-D3,providing a valuable reference for subsequent theoretical calculations.

Iron-induced NaTi2（PO4）3 with regulated electronic structure enables freshwater harvesting based on rocking-chair desalination battery

Despite the promising potential of NaTi2（PO4）3as desalination battery electrode,its mediocre seawater desalination capacity and durability fail to meet the requirements of practical ***,the substitution of Ti by Fe in NaTi2（PO4）3(NT2-xFxP),which possesses a stronger electronegativity relative to Ti,can regulate the electronic structure,thus facilitating charge transfer and ion diffusion during the desalination *** kinetic and thermodynamic facilitation of NT2-xFxP is clarified by the electrochemical analyses and DFT ***,the additional redox center and solid-solution reaction mechanism induced by Fe-dopant further contribute to a superior desalination performance of NT2-xFxP in different seawater *** from the multifunctional effect of Fe-dopant,the optimal NT1.7F0.3P delivers a large salt removal capacity(173.6 mg g-1) with an ultrahigh salt removal rate(8.48 mg g-1min-1),and maintains 96.6%of desalination capacity after 500 cycles in natural ***,the assembled NT1.7F0.3P||NaFeHCF rocking-chair desalination battery（RCDB） demonstrates a higher desalination performance than that of reported RCDB systems,and can desalinate natural seawater to freshwater standards under continuous desalination mode for the first time in RCDB *** work provides a facile but effective strategy to modulate the electronic structure of NaTi2（PO4）3for RCDB,and exploits a new perspective for developing scalable RCDB devices for continuous desalinating real seawater to freshwater.

Natural tourmaline activated peracetic acid for efficient degradation of sulfadiazine: Reaction mechanisms and catalyst reusability

Peracetic acid（PAA） has received extensive attention in the water treatment due to its high oxidation potential and low toxicity of by-products. In this study, natural non-toxic mineral tourmaline（TM） was used to activate PAA to remove sulfadiazine（SDZ）. The TM/PAA system could remove 92 % SDZ in 120 min. The radical analysis confirmed the co-existence of both free radical and non-free radical degradation pathways in the TM/PAA system,indicating that singlet oxygen（1O2） and acetyl（per）oxy radicals(CH3C（O）O· and CH3C（O）OO·) were the main reactive oxygen species. The Fe2+/Fe3+ratio on the TM surface decreased during the degradation of SDZ due to Fe2+consumption. The effect of water matrix on SDZ removal indicated that Cl-, SO42-and NO3-posed little effect on SDZ removal, while CO32-inhibited SDZ removal by affecting pH. Particularly, humic acid（HA） slightly promoted SDZ removal. Ten by-products of SDZ were identified by HPLC-MS/MS, and four possible transformation pathways（SO2detachment, S–N breakage, amino acid oxidation, and hydroxylation） were *** was recycled five times and the removal of SDZ remained above 85 %, confirming its excellent *** work indicates the TM/PAA system is of great potential for the application on the organic contaminant removal.
