Shape memory polymers are smart materials that produce shape changes under external stimulus ***-dimensional(4D)printing is a comprehensive technology originate from deformable materials and three-dimensional(3D)printing *** present,4D printed shape memory polymers and shape-changing structures have been applied in various fields,especially in the field of biomedical science.4D printing technology has made a breakthrough of personalized customization in the traditional medical field,providing a new direction for the further development of the biomedical *** this review,the recent research and development of shape memory polymer,3D printing technology,4D printed shape memory polymers and shape-changing structures in biomedical area are *** examples and applications of 4D printed shape memory polymers and their structures in the area of biomedical are also *** on 4D printing,stimulated by different conditions,3D printed objects can be fabricated into various biomedical applications such as cell scaffolds,vascular stents,bone scaffolds,tracheal stents and cardiac stents by different 3D printing ***,the application prospects,existing technical restriction and future development directions of 4D printed shape memory polymers and their structures in the biomedical field are summarized.

This article summarizes the composite honeycomb structure which possess important meaning and application value on the high-precision satellite antenna reflector. The key technologies of composite material honeycomb structure are summarized, including the material selection for satellite antenna reflector, honeycomb configuration, fabrication process, mechanical properties, lightweight design, surface accuracy, thermal deformation control and other issues. The development goal of “lighter, larger, more refined and more stable” are put forward after looking forward to the manufacturing technology and functional requirement of the future satellite antenna reflector. © 2022, Chinese Society of Astronautics.

Due to the stochastic geometries from micro-scale to meso-scale, the elastic modulus of fiber reinforced ceramic matrix woven composites exhibits significant spatial variabilities, as evidenced by the surface strain distribution captured through Digital Image Correlation method. These spatial variabilities, resulting in significant heterogeneous material properties, are of essential importance in both engineering and material science. Inspired by the excellent performances of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs), a data-driven method integrating invariant-based theory based on iteration strategy is proposed to identify the non-homogeneous modulus field of 2.5D SiO2f/SiO2 composites inversely. The constitutive equation has been normalized by the Tsai’s modulus, effectively alleviating the ill-posed nature of the problem. Furthermore, the results of PINNs show a high prediction accuracy, which have been validated through virtual testing and experimental tensile tests. The method proposed in this paper provides a powerful approach for inversely identifying the spatial variabilities of orthotropic composite material properties, which also holds potential for applications such as high-throughput non-destructive evaluation techniques. © 2024, The Authors. Ablation-Cooling Effect During Nanosecond Laser Precision Machining of Cfrp

Heat-affected zone (HAZ) in laser machining of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is an important factor affecting the assembly and service performance of CFRP. The ablation-cooling effect induced by nanosecond laser can be used to control HAZ of CFRP and improve the machining efficiency simultaneously. In this paper, the influence of key parameters such as peak power density, pulse width and repetition frequency on the formation mechanism of HAZ and the conditions for ablation-cooling are studied based on simulation and experiment. The simulation results show that ablation-cooling is more likely to occur at the high peak power density and high repetition frequency. The pulse width affects the width of HAZ through the ablation mechanism. The experimental results show that when the peak power density is greater than 108 W/cm2, the ablation-cooling effect effectively reduces HAZ and increases the removal amount, which is consistent with the simulation law. © 2024, The Authors. Preparation of Brittle Ito Microstructures Using Laser-Induced Forward Transfer technology

The performance of transparent conductive microstructures plays a significant role in determining the device efficiency. The fabrication of ITO microstructures on the flexible optoelectronic devices remains challenging because of the high-temperature processing requirements and brittleness of the ceramic material. This paper highlights a three-dimensional microfabrication technique that combines sacrificial layer etching and laser-induced transfer. By studying the donor material thickness and the laser energy density, control of the sacrificial layer transfer thrust was achieved to yield an optimal microstructure performance. Different shapes of ITO transparent conductive microstructures were fabricated on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) surfaces, demonstrating structural integrity, visible light transmittances >90%, and resistivities of ≤8×10−⁴ Ω·cm. Finite element analysis was employed to simulate the impact transfer of the donor material onto the receiving substrate, thereby elucidating the energy-absorbing protective role of the flexible PDMS layer. Effective control of the transfer force was identified as a crucial factor in achieving the successful transfer of brittle films. This high-precision and rapid array processing approach meets the demands of automated batch manufacturing, indicating its potential for use in patterned processing on flexible substrates, as an alternative to lithographic techniques. This technique could be applied in the preparation of electronic skins and flexible devices. Additionally, for the first time, a 3×3 pixel resistive array sensor was integrated on a Ag nanowires/PDMS surface, demonstrating array pressure-sensing capabilities at pressures of 0–80 kPa. This study represents a significant step towards the development of multifunctional flexible optoelectronic devices. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this work, amorphous/solid solution Al2O3/ZrO2 powder was prepared by combustion synthesis assisted with rapid cooling in water, followed by grinding for further refinement. The solubility of Al2O3 in the ZrO2 lattice was greatly enhanced by the rapid cooling process in water. The transformation of the metastable state and the presence of oxygen vacancies in the powder can accelerate the mass transfer during sintering, allowing for the preparation of nearly fully densified ceramics through hot press sintering at temperatures as low as 1300°C. During sintering, large numbers of ultra-fine nanoparticles (~5 nm) were precipitated from the solid solution and evenly dispersed throughout the matrix. The nanoparticles exhibit a high degree of coherence with the matrix due to the similarities in crystal structure between t-ZrO2 and α-Al2O3. The nanoparticle reinforcement effect and t-m phase transformation of ZrO2 both contributed to the ceramics' excellent mechanical properties. To compare the sintering capabilities and the performance of the ceramics, commercial powders were also sintered at the same temperature. This research may offer a new instruction for the low temperature fabrication of nanoparticles-strengthened ceramics. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

It is difficult to synthesize Al2O3/ZrO2 solid solution because of its low solubility under equilibrium solidification *** this work,a new combustion synthesis combined with water atomization(CS-WA)method was developed to prepare supersaturated Al2O3/ZrO2(CeO2)solid solution *** ultrahigh cooling rate supplied by CS-WA greatly extends solid solubility of Al2O3 in *** precipitation mechanism of solid solution was investigated by systematic heat *** initial temperature of the metastable phase decomposed into Al2O3 and ZrO2 is 1050℃,and it could be completely precipitated at 1400℃in 0.5 *** precipitated ZrO2 particles were uniformly dispersed in Al2O3 matrix and grew into submicron scale at annealing temperature of 1450℃.Subsequently,together with detailed microstructure,phase composition,as well as mechanical properties were collaboratively outlined to discuss spark plasma sintering(SPS)*** solid solution precipitated Al2O3 matrix and ZrO2 particles during the SPS *** ZrO2 particles were uniformly distributed within Al2O3 matrix,while the residuary ZrO2 located at the grain boundaries and formed special transgranular/intergranular *** average size of nanoscale transgranular ZrO2 particles was only^11.5 *** compact ZrO2 toughened Al2O3 nano ceramic(N-ZTA)exhibits excellent mechanical *** work provides a guidance to produce nanostructured ZTA with high performance.

The interfacial debonding effect on composites limits their wide application in aerospace. This work utilized the unique water-retention properties of hyaluronic acid by adding it to the sintered liquid phase to form polymeric films. A polymeric film wrapped extended sintering time strategy was adopted to synthesize the interface structure with anti-debonding properties. This interface bonding structure enhances the sintering densification ofZrW2O8/SiO2f composites and effectively improves operational accuracy by providing creep resistance. Furthermore, the interface bonding structure reduces the composites' interfacial polarization and reflection loss, enhancing wave-transparent properties in the 2–18 GHz frequency range. Simultaneously, the composites achieve a controllable coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) by regulating the liquid phase content and reach near-zero CTE (-0.246 × 10-6 °C-1 [30–300 °C]). Finally, the connection between the thermodynamics and sintering densification of composites was revealed by finite element analysis, and it was deduced that increasing sintering densification is beneficial in reducing the thermal stresses and strains inside the composites. This approach effectively solves the interface debonding problem of composites and provides a unique route to design composites. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Biomass carbon-based piezoresistive flexible pressure sensors have shown significant potential in various applications. Indeed, biomass carbon-based flexible sensors, such as carbonized cotton fabrics, exhibit limitations in terms of sensitivity and response speed. Herein, a kind of biomass carbon nanosphere-based piezoresistive flexible pressure sensor was proposed and developed by embedding biomass carbon nanospheres on the skin-like structures of the polydimethylsiloxane surface. The carbon nanospheres were obtained through the carbonization of cuttlefish ink. Owing to the skin-like structures fabricated on the surface of the composite films, the sensors achieve a sensitivity of 135.2 kPa-1 in the pressure range of 0-1 kPa. In addition, the sensors exhibit a short response (43 ms) and recovery time (23 ms). With these properties, the sensors were applied to motion capture and health monitoring. © 2024, The Authors.
