Superexponential diffusion in nonlinear non-Hermitian systems

We investigate the quantum diffusion of a periodically kicked particle subjected to both nonlinearity-induced self-interactions and PT-symmetric potentials. We find that, due to the interplay between the nonlinearity and non-Hermiticity, the expectation value of the mean square of momentum scales with time in a superexponential form 〈p2(t)〉∝exp[βexp(αt)], which is faster than any known rates of quantum diffusion. In the PT-symmetry-breaking phase, the intensity of a state increases exponentially with time, leading to the exponential growth of the interaction strength. The feedback of the intensity-dependent nonlinearity further turns the interaction energy into the kinetic energy, resulting in a superexponential growth of the mean energy. These theoretical predictions are in good agreement with numerical simulations in a PT-symmetric nonlinear kicked particle. Our discovery establishes a mechanism of diffusion in interacting and dissipative quantum systems. Important implications and possible experimental observations are discussed.

We propose a theoretical model to elucidate intermolecular electrostatic interactions between a virus and a substrate. Our model treats the virus as a homogeneous particle having surface charge and the polymer fiber of the respirator as a charged plane. Electric potentials surrounding the virus and fiber are influenced by the surface charge distribution of the virus. We use Poisson-Boltzmann equations to calculate electric potentials. Then, Derjaguin’s approximation and a linear superposition of the potential function are extended to determine the electrostatic force. In this work, we apply this model for coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2 case and numerical results quantitatively agree with prior simulation. We find that the influence of fiber’s potential on the surface charge of the virus is important and is considered in interaction calculations to obtain better accuracy. The electrostatic interaction significantly decays with increasing separation distance, and this curve becomes steeper when adding more salt. Although the interaction force increases with heating, one can observe the repulsive-attractive transition when the environment is acidic. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We revisit the evaluations for the spacelike and timelike ρπ transition form factors Fρπ(Q2) and Gρπ(Q2) with the inclusion of the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD contributions in the framework of the kT-factorization theorem. The infrared divergence is regularized by the transversal momentum carried by external valence quarks, and ultimately absorbed into the meson wave functions. In the region of Q2≤2 GeV2, where the perturbative QCD factorization approach is applicable, the NLO contribution can bring no larger than 35% enhancement to the spacelike form factor Fρπ(Q2). For the timelike form factor derived under the kinematic exchanging symmetry, this contribution is also under control when the momentum transfer squared is large enough. We also prolong our prediction into the small Q2 region by taking the lattice QCD results into account, and subsequently obtain the coupling gρπγ=Gρπ(0)=0.596.

Face photo-sketch synthesis aims at generating a facial sketch/photo conditioned on a given photo/sketch. It is of wide applications including digital entertainment and law enforcement. Precisely depicting face photos/sketches remains challenging due to the restrictions on structural realism and textural consistency. While existing methods achieve compelling results, they mostly yield blurred effects and great deformation over various facial components, leading to the unrealistic feeling of synthesized images. To tackle this challenge, in this work, we propose to use the facial composition information to help the synthesis of face sketch/photo. Specially, we propose a novel composition-aided generative adversarial network (CA-GAN) for face photo-sketch synthesis. In CA-GAN, we utilize paired inputs including a face photo/sketch and the corresponding pixel-wise face labels for generating a sketch/photo. In addition, to focus training on hard-generated components and delicate facial structures, we propose a compositional reconstruction loss. Finally, we use stacked CA-GANs (SCA-GAN) to further rectify defects and add compelling details. Experimental results show that our method is capable of generating both visually comfortable and identity-preserving face sketches/photos over a wide range of challenging data. Our method achieves the state-of-the-art quality, reducing best previous Fréchet Inception distance (FID) by a large margin. In this paper, we propose a general framework for constructing IGA-suitable planar B-spline parameterizations from given complex CAD boundaries consisting of a set of B-spline curves. Instead of forming the computational domain by a simple boundary, planar domains with high genus and more complex boundary curves are considered. Firstly, some pre-processing operations including Bézier extraction and subdivision are performed on each boundary curve in order to generate a high-quality planar parameterization;then a robust planar domain partition framework is proposed to construct high-quality patch-meshing results with few singularities from the discrete boundary formed by connecting the end points of the resulting boundary segments. After the topology information generation of quadrilateral decomposition, the optimal placement of interior Bézier curves corresponding to the interior edges of the quadrangulation is constructed by a global optimization method to achieve a patch-partition with high quality. Finally, after the imposition of C1/G1-continuity constraints on the interface of neighboring Bézier patches with respect to each quad in the quadrangulation, the high-quality Bézier patch parameterization is obtained by a C1constrained local optimization method to achieve uniform and orthogonal iso-parametric structures while keeping the continuity conditions between patches. The efficiency and robustness of the proposed method are demonstrated by several examples which are compared to results obtained by the skeleton-based parameterization approach. In recent years, the growing demand for medical imaging diagnosis has placed a significant burden on radiologists. As a solution, Medical Vision-Language Pre-training (Med-VLP) methods have been proposed to learn universal representations from medical images and reports, benefiting downstream tasks without requiring fine-grained annotations. However, existing methods have overlooked the importance of cross-modal alignment in joint image-text reconstruction, resulting in insufficient cross-modal interaction. To address this limitation, we propose a unified Med-VLP framework based on Multi-task Paired Masking with Alignment (MPMA) to integrate the cross-modal alignment task into the joint image-text reconstruction framework to achieve more comprehensive cross-modal interaction, while a Global and Local Alignment (GLA) module is designed to assist self-supervised paradigm in obtaining semantic representations with rich domain knowledge. Furthermore, we introduce a Memory-Augmented Cross-Modal Fusion (MA-CMF) module to fully integrate visual information to assist report reconstruction and fuse the multi-modal representations adequately. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed unified approach outperforms previous methods in all downstream tasks, including uni-modal, cross-modal, and multimodal tasks. In this paper, we show that depending on the sign of the electric charge Q, the charged AdS black hole (BH) possesses two alternative facets when the cosmological constant is identified to the thermodynamic pressure P. It is discovered that: 1) the equation of state of BH corresponds to Q > 0 and when Q changes from Q > 0 to Q WH (T) which releases in this process equals with minus sign the latent heat of BH, too;3) Finally, the probability of the quantum tunneling from the BH to the WH is obtained.
