Thermodynamic driving mechanisms for the formation of global precipitation extremes and ecohydrological effects

Global warming has altered the thermodynamic and dynamic environments of climate systems,affecting the biogeochemical processes between the geosphere and atmosphere,which has significant impacts on precipitation extremes and the terrestrial carbon budget of *** studies have reported a hook structure for precipitation extreme-temperature relationships but have rarely examined the underlying physical *** studies have also failed to quantify the impact of precipitation on ecosystem productivity,hindering the assessment of future extreme climatic hazards and potential ecosystem *** reveal the thermodynamic driving mechanisms for the formation of global precipitation extremes and ecohydrological effects,this study utilizes over ten multisource datasets(i.e.,satellite,reanalysis,climate model,land surface model,machine learning reconstruction,and flux tower measurements).We first assess the response of water-heat-carbon flux to precipitation extremes and explain the underlying physical mechanisms behind the hook structures in terms of atmospheric thermodynamics and *** on outputs from five global climate models(GCMs)under ISIMIP3b,we project future changes in the hook structures as well as their impacts on precipitation ***,we discuss the impact of precipitation on the terrestrial carbon budget by using outputs from the CLM4.5 *** results show that precipitation extremes are usually accompanied by strong exchanges of water and heat and demonstrate a nonlinear relationship between precipitation and ecosystem *** intensity(duration)of extreme precipitation is intensifying(decreasing)over most areas of the globe,whereas three-dimensional precipitation events are becoming more *** dynamics play a key role in shaping the hook *** structure is not stable;it shifts under climate change and is projected to result in a 10–40%intensification in precipitation by the end of

Software maintenance is the process of fixing,modifying,and improving software deliverables after they are delivered to the *** can benefit from offshore software maintenance outsourcing(OSMO)in different ways,including time savings,cost savings,and improving the software quality and *** of the hardest challenges for the OSMO vendor is to choose a suitable project among several clients’*** goal of the current study is to recommend a machine learning-based decision support system that OSMO vendors can utilize to forecast or assess the project of OSMO *** projects belong to OSMO vendors,having offices in developing countries while providing services to developed *** the current study,Extreme Learning Machine’s(ELM’s)variant called Deep Extreme Learning Machines(DELMs)is used.A novel dataset consisting of 195 projects data is proposed to train the model and to evaluate the overall efficiency of the proposed *** proposed DELM’s based model evaluations achieved 90.017%training accuracy having a value with 1.412×10^(-3) Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)and 85.772%testing accuracy with 1.569×10^(-3) RMSE with five DELMs hidden *** results express that the suggested model has gained a notable recognition rate in comparison to any previous *** current study also concludes DELMs as the most applicable and useful technique for OSMO client’s project assessment.

Alternative polyadenylation(APA)is a post-transcriptional process that typically determines the length of mature mRNAs'3'untranslated region(3'UTR).The global shortened 3'UTR alters mRNA stability,localization,and translation and contributes to cancer progression.1 The APA characteristics and its effects on acute myeloid leukemia(AML)remain to be comprehensively ***,we identified churchill domain containing 1(CHURC1)as an upregulated gene with a lengthened 3'UTR in CD34+enriched AML cells compared with healthy hematopoietic stem and progenitor *** for APA regulation of CHURC1,we found that rs6745 and RNA binding protein TIA1 potentially contribute to the distal poly(A)site usage in cis-and transways,***,a lengthened CHURC13'UTR affected the apoptosis of AML cells by disrupting the expression of DICER1 by sponging *** chemotherapeutic sensitivity of 8 drugs was associated with CHURC1 poly(A)site ***,our analysis indicated a previously undetected gene,CHURC1,that affected AML progression through 3'UTR length change resulting from *** collection and detailed analysis methods were described in the supplementary material.

Optimizing 2D-metal contact in layered Tin-selenide via native oxide modulation

The discovery of two-dimensional(2D)semiconductor has opened up new avenues for the development of short-channel field-effect transistors(FETs)with desired electrical *** them,orthorhombic tin-selenide(SnSe)has garnered increasing attention due to its potential applications in a variety of electronic,optoelectronic,and thermoelectric ***,the realization of high-performance SnSe FETs with low contact resistance(Rc)remains a ***,we systematically investigate the contact of few-layer SnSe FETs through the modulation of native oxide on SnSe by using different *** is found that chromium(Cr)-contacted devices possess the best FET performance,such as electron mobility up to 606 cm^(2)/(V·s)at 78 K,current on/off ratio exceeding 1010,and saturation current of~550μA/μm,where a negligible Schottky barrier(SB)of~30 meV and a low contact resistance of~425Ωμm are achieved.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and cross-sectional electron dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX)results further reveal that the improved contact arises from the Cr-induced reduction of native oxide(SnOx)to Sn,which thins the tunneling barrier for efficient electron *** findings provide a deep insight into the 2D-metal contact of SnSe and pave the way for its applications in future nanoelectronics.

For future Internet of Vehicles (IoV), communications and computing will converge to provide services. Federated learning (FL), as one of the typical distributed computing technologies, needs to be integrated with IoV. For such integration, FL suffers from the straggler effect that the entire learning speed is lowered down, because of the existence of the devices, such as low-powered road side units and vehicles, taking more time to complete their tasks. Although the existing mechanisms reduce straggler effects by adopting asynchronous mechanisms and clustering mechanisms, they lack the detailed analysis of the reasons and the impacts of each cause, leading to inefficiencies in the design of algorithm. Additionally, most of the existing work only considered the impact of a single factor in computation, communication, or data distribution, which lacks comprehensive on research for causes of stragglers effects. The bottleneck is that it is laborious to observe the time delay precisely with the existing high-calculating evaluations. In this article, we elaborately explore the effects of computing power, communication capability, and data distributions on the straggler effects with carefully designing and conducting the extensive experiments. After investigations, we propose a novel learning completion time estimation formula for low computing capability devices with mini-batch stochastic gradient decent (SGD). We compare our proposed estimation formula with the one based on floating operation per second (FLOPs). Through the evaluations, our formula can demonstrate the improvement up to 72.4% at docker and 32.4% at Raspberry Pi device compared to the existing work. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper proposes a method for predicting and identifying the position of a submersible using a hybrid neural network algorithm and the Monte Carlo method. Initially, we employ a hybrid neural network algorithm to establish a predictive model for ocean current parameters based on data from the Ionian Sea detection station. Additionally, we analyze the forces acting on the submersible and its motion to construct a physical model for the submersible's vertical movement. By integrating the effects of these two models, we can predict the three-dimensional trajectory of the submersible. Furthermore, to accurately analyze the potential location of the submersible after an accident, we utilize the Monte Carlo method and infinitesimal method, employing the K-means clustering algorithm to analyze the initial deployment points of the device. Based on the probability distribution, we select appropriate search methods. As indicated by the established probability function model, the probability of the submersible being covered decreases over time. The search results serve as adjustment parameters for the probability function model;the more search results obtained, the higher the probability of locating the submersible is. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper,Index Modulation(IM)aided Generalized Space-Time Block Coding(GSTBC)is proposed,which intrinsically exploits the benefits of IM concept,diversity gain and spatial multiplexing ***,the information bits are partitioned into U groups,with each being modulated by IM symbols(*** Modulation(SM),Quadrature SM(QSM),etc).Next,the structure of GSTBC is invoked for each K IM symbol,and a total ofμ=U/K GSTBC codes are transmitted via T time slots.A Block Expectation Propagation(B-EP)detector is designed for the proposed IM-GSTBC ***,the theoretical Average Bit Error Probability(ABEP)is derived for our IM-GSTBC system,which is confirmed by the simulation results and helpful for performance *** results show that our proposed IM-GSTBC system is capable of striking an efficient trade-off between spatial multiplexing gain,spatial diversity gain as well as implementation cost imposed for both small-scale and large-scale MIMO antenna configurations.

Recognising protein complexes in protein interaction networks is crucial, but poses a major challenge due to the frequency of noisy interactions. These networks typically involve numerous protein complexes, with each protein generally only participating in a few complexes. Current recognition models often ignore this aspect. To address this problem, we present a semi-supervised protein complex identification algorithm that extends non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) with sparsity constraints. In contrast to conventional approaches that apply a global sparsity constraint to the entire matrix, our method imposes individual sparsity constraints on protein membership indicator vectors. This targeted strategy controls the algorithm more effectively. Our experimental results with yeast and human protein interaction networks show that our algorithm achieves higher accuracy in identifying protein complexes than leading contemporary methods. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
