In this article, the data-driven event-triggered control is addressed for unknown discrete-time neural networks (DTNNs) under actuator saturation and external perturbation. The research problem is raised due to the following two reasons: 1) a practical system is often affected by external perturbations and it is costly to acquire an accurate system model;2) the network bandwidth and the control inputs are always constrained due to physical hardware. To handle the above issues, the methodology is to first establish a model-based stability condition under the designed saturated event-triggered controller and then to transform the model-based stability condition into a data-based stability condition relying only on the perturbation-corrupted data via the extended S-lemma. The key results are: 1) a data-based DTNNs system representation is presented by collecting perturbation-corrupted state-input data. Then, a data-based stability criterion is derived and the saturated event-triggered controller is designed without an explicit system model;2) an optimization method is presented that can maximize the estimation of attractor (EoA) and minimize the estimated domain of attraction (DoA) simultaneously. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated and some quantitative analyses are offered by two numerical examples. © 2024 IEEE.

The modern military confrontations often involve simultaneous activities such as electromagnetic warfare, network information warfare, and weapon firepower confrontation. These confrontations typically take the form of a system of systems (SoS), which is a complex system with diverse data types, large volumes of data, and intricate data transmission networks. To ensure absolute superiority in military confrontations, combat commanders must be able to extract knowledge from the complex SoS data and intuitively understand and evaluate its various capabilities in order to promptly implement appropriate command measures. This study proposes a granular description-based method for evaluating SoS capabilities to achieve rapid and intuitive cognition of SoS capabilities. The method aims to transform the problem of evaluating SoS capabilities into a granular modeling problem consisting of three stages: the first stageinvolveso rganizing t he S oS data a nd constructing a dataset encompassing SoS capability;the second stage focuses on constructing capability information granules;the third stage develops an information granule-based model using historical SoS data. Based on the SoS capability dataset generated by the constructed SoS-level combat confrontation simulation environment, a series of experiments concerning the generated dataset are implemented to exhibit the process and effect of the proposed granular-based evaluation method. © 2024 IEEE.

Synergy Between Soft Feet and an Active Tail to Enhance the Climbing Ability of a Bio-inspired Climbing Robot

Lizards use the synergy between their feet and tail to climb on slopes and vertical *** use their soft adhesive feet with millions of small hairs to increase their contact area with the terrain surface and press their tails against the terrain to actively maintain stability during *** by this,we propose a bio-inspired climbing robot based on a new approach wherein the synergy between soft feet and an active tail with a soft adhesive tip allows the robot to climb stably on even and uneven terrains at different slope *** evaluate and compare the climbing performance of the robot on three different terrains(hard,soft,and fluffy)at different slope *** robot configurations are employed,including those with standard hard feet and soft feet in combination with an active tail-with and without a soft *** experimental results show that the robot having soft feet and a tail with the soft tip achieves the best climbing performance on all terrains,with maximum climbing slopes of 40°,45°,and 50°on fluffy,soft,and hard terrains,*** payload capacity depends on the type of terrain and the inclination ***,our robot performs multi-terrain transitions(climbing from horizontal to sloped terrains)on three different terrains of a *** approach can allow a climbing robot to walk and climb on different terrains,extending the operational range of the robot to areas with complex terrains and slopes,e.g.,in inspection,exploration,and construction.

Latency minimization for multiuser computation offloading in fog-radio access networks

Recently,the Fog-Radio Access Network(F-RAN)has gained considerable attention,because of its flexible architecture that allows rapid response to user *** this paper,computational offloading in F-RAN is considered,where multiple User Equipments(UEs)offload their computational tasks to the F-RAN through fog *** UE can select one of the fog nodes to offload its task,and each fog node may serve multiple *** tasks are computed by the fog nodes or further offloaded to the cloud via a capacity-limited fronhaul *** order to compute all UEs'tasks quickly,joint optimization of UE-Fog association,radio and computation resources of F-RAN is proposed to minimize the maximum latency of all *** min-max problem is formulated as a Mixed Integer Nonlinear Program(MINP).To tackle it,first,MINP is reformulated as a continuous optimization problem,and then the Majorization Minimization(MM)method is used to find a *** MM approach that we develop is unconventional in that each MM subproblem is solved inexactly with the same provable convergence guarantee as the exact MM,thereby reducing the complexity of MM *** addition,a cooperative offloading model is considered,where the fog nodes compress-and-forward their received signals to the *** this model,a similar min-max latency optimization problem is formulated and tackled by the inexact *** results show that the proposed algorithms outperform some offloading strategies,and that the cooperative offloading can exploit transmission diversity better than noncooperative offloading to achieve better latency performance.

Privacy Preserving Distributed Bandit Residual Feedback Online Optimization Over Time-Varying Unbalanced Graphs

This paper considers the distributed online optimization(DOO) problem over time-varying unbalanced networks, where gradient information is explicitly unknown. To address this issue, a privacy-preserving distributed online one-point residual feedback(OPRF) optimization algorithm is proposed. This algorithm updates decision variables by leveraging one-point residual feedback to estimate the true gradient information. It can achieve the same performance as the two-point feedback scheme while only requiring a single function value query per iteration. Additionally, it effectively eliminates the effect of time-varying unbalanced graphs by dynamically constructing row stochastic matrices. Furthermore, compared to other distributed optimization algorithms that only consider explicitly unknown cost functions, this paper also addresses the issue of privacy information leakage of nodes. Theoretical analysis demonstrate that the method attains sublinear regret while protecting the privacy information of agents. Finally, numerical experiments on distributed collaborative localization problem and federated learning confirm the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Novel algorithm for detection and identification of radioactive materials in an urban environment

This study introduces a novel algorithm to detect and identify radioactive materials in urban settings using time-series detector response data. To address the challenges posed by varying backgrounds and to enhance the quality and reliability of the energy spectrum data, we devised a temporal energy window. This partitioned the time-series detector response data, resulting in energy spectra that emphasize the vital information pertaining to radioactive materials. We then extracted characteristic features of these energy spectra, relying on the formation mechanism and measurement principles of the gammaray instrument spectrum. These features encompassed aggregated counts, peak-to-flat ratios, and peak-to-peak ratios. This methodology not only simplified the interpretation of the energy spectra's physical significance but also eliminated the necessity for peak searching and individual peak analyses. Given the requirements of imbalanced multi-classification, we created a detection and identification model using a weighted k-nearest neighbors(KNN) framework. This model recognized that energy spectra of identical radioactive materials exhibit minimal inter-class similarity. Consequently, it considerably boosted the classification accuracy of minority classes, enhancing the classifier's overall efficacy. We also executed a series of comparative experiments. Established methods for radionuclide identification classification, such as standard KNN, support vector machine, Bayesian network, and random tree, were used for comparison purposes. Our proposed algorithm realized an F1 measure of 0.9868 on the time-series detector response data, reflecting a minimum enhancement of 0.3% in comparison with other techniques. The results conclusively show that our algorithm outperforms others when applied to time-series detector response data in urban contexts.

The Exchange Attack and the Mixture Differential Attack Revisited: From the Perspective of Automatic Evaluation

Recent results show that the differential properties within quadruples boom as a new inspiration in cryptanalysis of Advanced Encryption Standard(AES)-like constructions. These methods include the exchange attack proposed in Asiacrypt'19, the mixture differential attack proposed in To SC'18, etc., where the essential properties are obtained by manually scrutinizing the structures of the AES-like constructions. This paper presents a novel framework and an automatic tool based on mixed integer linear programming to search for mixture differential distinguishers for general constructions. This framework considers what equality patterns among quadruples can make a distinguisher and traces how the patterns propagate through cipher components with accurate probability *** this tool, a 5-round AES distinguishing attack with lower complexity and more 6-round distinguishing attacks in the chosen plaintext scenarios are deduced. We prove that no exchange-type or mixture differential distinguisher exists for 7 and above rounds AES if the details of the Sbox and Mix Columns matrix are not taken into account.

Rail-Pillar Net:A 3D Detection Network for Railway Foreign Object Based on LiDAR

Aiming at the limitations of the existing railway foreign object detection methods based on two-dimensional(2D)images,such as short detection distance,strong influence of environment and lack of distance information,we propose Rail-PillarNet,a three-dimensional(3D)LIDAR(Light Detection and Ranging)railway foreign object detection method based on the improvement of ***,the parallel attention pillar encoder(PAPE)is designed to fully extract the features of the pillars and alleviate the problem of local fine-grained information loss in PointPillars pillars ***,a fine backbone network is designed to improve the feature extraction capability of the network by combining the coding characteristics of LIDAR point cloud feature and residual ***,the initial weight parameters of the model were optimised by the transfer learning training method to further improve *** experimental results on the OSDaR23 dataset show that the average accuracy of Rail-PillarNet reaches 58.51%,which is higher than most mainstream models,and the number of parameters is 5.49 *** with PointPillars,the accuracy of each target is improved by 10.94%,3.53%,16.96%and 19.90%,respectively,and the number of parameters only increases by 0.64M,which achieves a balance between the number of parameters and accuracy.

Method for measuring the low-frequency sound power from a complex sound source based on sound-field correction in a non-anechoic tank

Similar to air reverberation chambers, non-anechoic water tanks are important acoustic measurement devices that can be used to measure the sound power radiated from complex underwater sound sources using diffusion field theory. However,the problem of the poor applicability of low-frequency measurements in these tanks has not yet been solved. Therefore,we propose a low-frequency acoustic measurement method based on sound-field correction(SFC) in an enclosed space that effectively solves the problem of measuring the sound power from complex sound sources below the Schroeder cutoff frequency in a non-anechoic tank. Using normal mode theory, the transfer relationship between the mean-square sound pressure in an underwater enclosed space and the free-field sound power of the sound source is established, and this is regarded as a correction term for the sound field between this enclosed space and the free field. This correction term can be obtained based on previous measurements of a known sound source. This term can then be used to correct the mean-square sound pressure excited by any sound source to be tested in this enclosed space and equivalently obtain its free-field sound power. Experiments were carried out in a non-anechoic water tank(9.0 m × 3.1 m × 1.7 m) to confirm the validity of the SFC method. Through measurements with a spherical sound source(whose free-field radiation characteristics are known),the correction term of the sound field between this water tank and the free field was obtained. On this basis, the sound power radiated from a cylindrical shell model under the action of mechanical excitation was measured. The measurement results were found to have a maximum deviation of 2.9 d B from the free-field results. These results show that the SFC method has good applicability in the frequency band above the first-order resonant frequency in a non-anechoic tank. This greatly expands the potential low-frequency applications of non-anechoic tanks.

Rational surface charge engineering of haloalkane dehalogenase for boosting the enzymatic performance in organic solvent solutions

Biocatalysis in organic solvents(OSs)has numerous important applications,but native enzymes in OSs often exhibit limited catalytic ***,we proposed a computation-aided surface charge engineering strategy to improve the catalytic performance of haloalkane dehalogenase DhaA in OSs based on the energetic analysis of substrate binding to the DhaA *** variants with enhanced OS resistance were obtained by replacing negative charged residues on the surface with positive charged residue(Arg).Particularly,a four-substitution variant E16R/E93R/E121R/E257R exhibited the best catalytic performance(five-fold improvement in OS resistance and seven-fold half-life increase in 40%(vol)dimethylsulfoxide).As a result,the overall catalytic performance of the variant could be at least 26 times higher than the wild-type *** spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulation studies revealed that the residue substitution mainly enhanced OS resistance from four aspects:(a)improved the overall structural stability,(b)increased the hydrophobicity of the local microenvironment around the catalytic triad,(c)enriched the hydrophobic substrate around the enzyme molecule,and(d)lowered the contact frequency between OS molecules and the catalytic *** findings validate that computationaided surface charge engineering is an effective and ingenious rational strategy for tailoring enzyme performance in OSs.
