Segment Anything Model (SAM) has recently gained much attention for its outstanding generalization to unseen data and tasks. Despite its promising prospect, the vulnerabilities of SAM, especially to universal adversarial perturbation (UAP) have not been thoroughly investigated yet. In this paper, we propose DarkSAM, the first prompt-free universal attack framework against SAM, including a semantic decoupling-based spatial attack and a texture distortion-based frequency attack. We first divide the output of SAM into foreground and background. Then, we design a shadow target strategy to obtain the semantic blueprint of the image as the attack target. DarkSAM is dedicated to fooling SAM by extracting and destroying crucial object features from images in both spatial and frequency domains. In the spatial domain, we disrupt the semantics of both the foreground and background in the image to confuse SAM. In the frequency domain, we further enhance the attack effectiveness by distorting the high-frequency components (i.e., texture information) of the image. Consequently, with a single UAP, DarkSAM renders SAM incapable of segmenting objects across diverse images with varying prompts. Experimental results on four datasets for SAM and its two variant models demonstrate the powerful attack capability and transferability of DarkSAM. In many scientific domains, there is a growing interest in the shortest path problem. Traffic routes that can be precisely defined become arbitrary due to the damage that natural catastrophes inflict on roads and bridges. The truth membership, indeterminacy membership, and falsity membership of the component elements make up a neutrosophic set. Their axis of symmetry is indeterminacy membership, and it has a symmetric form. The neutrosophic number is a better way to express the edge distance in uncertain circumstances. With an edge distance stated using Fermatean neutrosophic numbers (FrNN), the study aims to solve the shortest path problem of the Fermatean neutrosophic graph. Additionally, the edge distance will be resolved based on the score and precise functions derived from the FrNN. In order to solve the shortest path problem and determine the shortest distance, the application of a circle-breaking algorithm is suggested. © 2024, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.

The exploration of snake locomotion has significantly informed the field of robotics, especially in the development of robots capable of navigating complex terrains. While most robotic designs traditionally rely on the assumption of uniform force distribution for movement, the nuanced agility of snakes suggests a more selective application of force across specific joints. This paper introduces a novel underactuated snake-like robot, drawing inspiration from the adaptive locomotion strategies observed in desert snakes. We propose a modular design, incorporating joints with varying functionalities, to enhance the robot's adaptability to diverse environmental challenges. Through simulation and experimentation on flat and inclined surfaces, we validate the effectiveness of this modular design in improving locomotive efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, we have designed and fabricated a three-dimensional SiC trench MOSFET with N-P-N sandwich epitaxial layers. This is the first time on record that N-P-N sandwich epitaxial layers are used in a SiC trench MOSFET. The cell structures include section-A and section-B, where section-A is to ensure that the P-shield region remains grounded in three-dimensional space. The section-B can conduct current and is the main cell structure. Further simulation shows that the breakdown voltage of the section-B cell structure is 1675V, and the corresponding termination structure is 1780V. In addition, in order to generate the N-enrich region with better performance, ion implantation conditions are continuously optimized during the fabrication process. The SEM images of the SiC trench MOSFET during optimization are demonstrated in detail. More importantly, a termination structure is fabricated in the N-P-N sandwich epitaxial layers for the first time, and the electric field of the P+ buried layer can be modulated by N-type ion implantation to achieve a relatively high breakdown voltage. The wafer and SEM images of the fabricated structure are shown, and the breakdown voltage of the fabricated device reaches 1130 V at Ids=1 mA. The N-enrich region formed by N-type ion implantation in the P-type epitaxial layer is tested to conduct current. Subsequently, the process and parameter design will be continuously optimized to improve the device characteristics. © 2023 IEEE.

We have developed a fast method of using Multiple Scattering Theory-Broadband Green’s Function (BBGF-MST) for band field calculations. In this paper, we successfully extended the method to the vector electromagnetic case of 3D periodic structures. In the MST-BBGF approach, the broadband transformation to vector spherical waves for 3D is derived using the Broadband Green’s function. The band eigenvalue problem is expressed in terms of the single scatterer T matrix which is independent of the periodic lattice nor the Bloch vector. For the first five bands, the dimension of the KKR eigen equation is merely 6, as 6 vector spherical waves are utilized for the scattered waves. We make extensive comparisons of the results with the commercial software COMSOL in both accuracy and computation efficiency. The CPU requirement on a standard laptop for the MST-BBGF method is merely 0.309 seconds for the first 5 bands. The MST-BBGF method is accurate and is at least two orders of magnitude faster than commercial software COMSOL. In the band field calculations, we employ the approach of extended coefficient to use the low order eigenvector of 6 to extend to 240 vector spherical wave coefficients without the need of recalculating the eigenvalue nor the eigenvector of the KKR equation. The extended coefficients approach gives accurate band field solutions for the entire (0, 0, 0) cell. © 2024, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

information molecules play a crucial role in molecular communication (MC), acting as carriers for information transfer. A common approach to get information molecules in MC involves harvesting them from the environment;however, the harvested molecules are often a mixture of various environmental molecules, and the initial concentration ratios in the reservoirs are identical, which hampers high-fidelity transmission techniques such as molecular shift keying (MoSK). This paper presents a transmitter design that harvests molecules from the surrounding environment and stores them in two reservoirs. To separate the mixed molecules, energy is consumed to transfer them between reservoirs. Given limited energy resources, this work explores energy-efficient strategies to optimize transmitter performance. Through theoretical analysis and simulations, we investigate different methods for moving molecules between reservoirs. The results demonstrate that transferring higher initial concentration molecules enhances transmitter performance, while using fewer molecules per transfer further improves efficiency. These findings provide valuable insights for optimizing MC systems through energy-efficient molecule transfer techniques. © 2015 IEEE.

Capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP) is a classical combinatorial optimization problem, which plays an important role in the logistics field and belongs to the NP-hard problem. Discrete whale optimization algorithm (DWOA) with a routing first and grouping later solution generating technique is proposed to handle the CVRP. The algorithm redefines the classical whale optimization algorithm's encircling prey method, bubble-net attacking method, and exploration phase method. Through the improved whale optimization algorithm, the optimal planning of logistics distribution vehicle routing is realized. Finally, an experimental demonstration of the DWOA algorithm's success offers a novel approach for resolving CVRP. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, a full-space beam scanning antenna based on spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) is proposed. The proposed antenna is composed of a SSPPs loaded by the varactor diodes and periodic metallic patches. The periodic patches can transform the slow waves from SSPPs into fast waves, and the cutoff frequency can be reconfigured by changing the capacitance of the varactor diode, which will make the radiation angle of the beam change within a fixed frequency. Simulation results show that the radiation angle ranges from -90° to 90° at 9 GHz. © 2023 Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES).

This paper proposes a novel bioinspired knee joint structure characterized by high torque efficiency. After analyzing the experiment data of the knee joint, we found that there was the linear relationship between the angular variations induced by relative rolling and sliding in femur and tibia. Based on the conclusion, a compound motion of planetary gear mechanism and three-stage gear transmission mechanism is designed to simulate the motion characteristics of the knee joint in the sagittal plane. The high efficiency of the gears and the reduction ratio of approximately 6.8 allow this structure to be applied in scenarios requiring high torque when driven directly by a motor. Subsequently, the joint simulation between the human knee joint and the exoskeleton is constructed and executed using Simulink in MATLAB. Results indicate that during the flexion-extension process of the knee joint, the maximum displacement between the exoskeleton shank strap and the human body is 5mm, and the angular deviation is floating from -3 degree to +3 degree. Hence, the structure can follow the movement of knee and enhance wearable comfort of patients. © 2024 IEEE.
