A Reflective Metasurface with Broadband Low Detectability (RM-BLD) is designed in this paper, which is characterized by stable performance in broadband, wide incident angles and 3-D targets. The theory of Generalized Snell Law is introduced in the arrangements of unit cells, which makes contributes to broaden the band and incident angles. Results in different frequencies and incident angles are experimented. The average value of RCS is around -20 dBm2, which is greatly reduced. The dihedral corner acting as one of the most typical 3-D targets is introduced as well, which verifies the low detectability of RM-BLD applied in 3-D targets. The design of the RM-BLD provides an innovative metasurface for 3-D targets in the demand of low detectability. For future works, more discussions of the proposed metasurface will be applied to further complex targets. © 2023 IEEE.

Energy-Efficient Wireless Federated Learning: A Secrecy Oriented Design via Sequential Artificial Jamming

Wireless federated learning (FL) is envisioned as a promising paradigm of distributed learning in wireless networks without disclosing users' data privacy. However, radio channel leads to a potential risk of eavesdropping attack when sending the trained model data in wireless networks. To address this eavesdropping attack, in this work, we propose an energy-efficient wireless FL by using artificial jamming. Specifically, the group of wireless devices (WDs) adopt the time division multiple access (TDMA) approach to send their locally trained models to the FL server for model aggregation subject to the eavesdropping attack of a malicious node. When one of the WDs sends its local model, all the other WDs send the artificial jamming signals to interfere with the eavesdropper, which helps increase the secrecy throughput of the targeted WD for uploading its local model. Different from many existing studies using stochastic gradient descent (SGD), we adopt the stochastic average gradient (SAG) method in the local training to improve the convergence of FL and derive the corresponding lower bound of the FL convergence rate via SAG. Furthermore, we formulate an optimization problem that aims at minimizing the energy consumption of the WDs by jointly optimizing different WDs' local training time, their uploading transmission time in TDMA and the transmit-powers for providing artificial jamming, as well as the FL configurations of the local/global iterations. We also propose an efficient algorithm for solving this non-convex optimization problem. Numerical results are illustrated to validate the advantages of our design of wireless FL and the corresponding algorithms. In particular, the results demonstrate that our secrecy oriented energy-efficient FL can significantly outperform the other heuristic FL schemes. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Owing to the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in recent years, numerous scholars have applied it to classify arrhythmias using electrocardiography (ECG). However, raw ECG data contain high- and low-frequency noise, which can affect the accuracy of the classification results. To address this issue, we propose using autoencoder processing to reduce noise. Furthermore, most previous studies have utilized a segmented one-dimensional time series to train the AI classification model. In contrast, our approach involves transforming the segmented time series into a two-dimensional image, which allows for better feature coverage to highlight the differences between the various types of arrhythmias. This approach can improve the accuracy of the AI classification model. Finally, we developed a portable ECG arrhythmia classification model by integrating the D1 mini development board and AD8232 ECG sensor. We worked in cooperation with the doctors of Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital to perform field tests on the model in the hospital. © 2023 IEEE.

Image Caption generation is one of the challenging tasks in the field of artificial intelligence. It is used to generate a textual description for a given picture. But due to, the recent advancement in deep learning techniques requires only one single end-to-end model to create a caption for the given image. This paper is intended to provide an image caption and speech generator used to generate a single-line description for a given image and audio/speech for the report generated. The researchers used a sophisticated pipeline of specifically designed models in the previous models. To achieve the proposed model, VGG16 and LSTM models are used to obtain descriptions for the image and GTTS API is used for the audio/speech generation. © 2023 IEEE.

Droplet manipulation plays a significant role in the fields of biomedical detection,microfluidics,and chemical ***,it still remains a great challenge to simultaneously achieve remote,selective,and in situ droplet manipulation on the same ***,Fe_(3)O_(4)nanoparticles were doped in a shape-memory polymer(SMP)to prepare a photothermal-responsive Fe_(3)O_(4)-SMP composite which showed remarkable near-infrared(NIR)light-triggered shape-memory *** micropillar array was constructed on such Fe_(3)O_(4)-SMP composite through femtosecond laser microfabrication and fluoroalkylsilane *** surface wettability of the as-prepared surface can transform from a low-adhesive sliding state to a high-adhesive pinning state as the micropillars are deformed by ***,the deformed micropillars can stand up and restore to their original morphology under remote NIR light irradiation,resulting in the reversible and repeatable recovery of the ultralow-adhesive *** such light-triggered wettability switching,the droplets pinning on the sample surface can be remotely,selectively,and in situ ***,the superhydrophobic Fe_(3)O_(4)-SMP surface is successfully applied in lossless liquid transfer,selective droplet release,and droplet-based *** as-fabricated superhydrophobic surfaces with NIR light-controlled reversible wettability will hold great promise in the fields of liquid manipulation,lab-on-a-chip,and microfluidics.

The integration of big data with cutting-edge technologies like IoT and Cloud Computing has profoundly influenced various aspects of modern life, including everyday service processes. To facilitate data-driven decision-making, big data analytics—focused on identifying patterns, trends, and correlations in large data sets—is indispensable. While traditional statistical techniques are useful, new tools and infrastructures such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL are essential to tackle big data challenges. However, modifying the existing environment can be impractical, especially in production settings, due to the need for significant investment and specialized expertise. This article presents a novel computational paradigm that adds a decision-making layer atop existing systems for data analysis, eliminating the need to alter the environment. The approach treats the current information system as a data lake and introduces a new data recovery layer through web services, drawing inspiration from big data technologies like MapReduce. This system offers the advantage of being modular, reusable, and universally compatible, making it an independent decisional framework that can work with any information system or data source. © 2023 IEEE.

Optimal, Almost Optimal Few-Weight Linear Codes and Related Quantum Codes

In eight published papers in IEEE Transactions on information Theory, infinite families of optimal few-weight binary and q-ary linear codes were constructed and their weight distributions were determined. These codes are linear codes meeting the Griesmer bound. We indicate that many Griesmer codes constructed in these papers are not new. They are actually Solomon-Stiffler codes invented in 1965. Therefore weight distributions of some special binary or q-ary Solomon-Stiffler codes were determined in the papers mentioned above. From a similar geometric approach as Solomon-Stiffler codes, we construct ten infinite families of binary, ternary and quaternary few-weight, optimal, almost optimal and near-optimal linear codes close to the Griesmer bound and their weight distributions are determined. These linear codes have positive Griesmer defects up to five, and thus not Solomon-Stiffler codes and Griesmer codes from minihypers. Moreover, many optimal, best known and almost optimal quantum codes of small lengths, comparing with Grassl’s table on quantum codes, are constructed from the same geometric approach as binary Solomon-Stiffler codes. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
