This paper introduces an innovative crowdfunding platform utilizing Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to tackle the challenges linked to conventional payment methods and the regulatory limitations of earlier cryptocurrency-based solutions. We present a practical prototype, demonstrating the feasibility of the CBDC approach. An extensive evaluation comparing CBDCs with Ethereum and traditional systems confirms its superior performance. This research marks the initial step toward understanding the potential of CBDCs in crowdfunding, setting the stage for future exploration and innovation in this evolving financial landscape. © 2024 IEEE.

A dynamic and resource sharing virtual network mapping algorithm

Network virtualization can effectively establish dedicated virtual networks to implement various network ***,the existing research works have some shortcomings,for example,although computing resource properties of individual nodes are considered,node storage properties and the network topology properties are usually ignored in Virtual Network(VN)modelling,which leads to the inaccurate measurement of node availability and *** addition,most static virtual network mapping methods allocate fixed resources to users during the entire life cycle,and the users’actual resource requirements vary with the workload,which results in resource allocation *** on the above analysis,in this paper,we propose a dynamic resource sharing virtual network mapping algorithm named NMA-PRS-VNE,first,we construct a new,more realistic network framework in which the properties of nodes include computing resources,storage resources and topology *** the node mapping process,three properties of the node are used to measure its mapping ***,we consider the resources of adjacent nodes and links instead of the traditional method of measuring the availability and priority of nodes by considering only the resource properties,so as to more accurately select the physical mapping nodes that meet the constraints and conditions and improve the success rate of subsequent link ***,we divide the resource requirements of Virtual Network Requests(VNRs)into basic subrequirements and variable sub-variable requirements to complete dynamic resource *** former represents monopolizing resource requirements by the VNRs,while the latter represents shared resources by many VNRs with the probability of occupying resources,where we keep a balance between resource sharing and collision among users by calculating the collision *** results show that the proposed NMAPRS-VNE can increase the average acceptance rate and network revenu

Highly hydrophilic materials enable rapid water delivery and salt redissolution in solar-driven seawater desalination. However, the lack of independent floatability inhibits heat localization at the air/water interface. In nature, seaweeds with internal gas microvesicles can float near the sea surface to ensure photosynthesis. Here, we have developed a seaweed-inspired, independently floatable, but superhydrophilic (SIFS) solar evaporator. It needs no extra floatation support and can simultaneously achieve continuous water pumping and heat concentration. The evaporator resists salt accumulation, oil pollution, microbial corrosion, and protein adsorption. Densely packed hollow glass microbeads promote intrinsic floatability and heat insulation. Superhydrophilic zwitterionic sulfobetaine hydrogel provides a continuous water supply, redissolves the deposited salt, and endows the SIFS evaporator with excellent anti-fouling properties. With its unprecedented anti-contamination ability, this SIFS evaporator is expected to open a new avenue for designing floatable superhydrophilic materials and solving real-world issues of solar steam generation in complex environmental conditions.

MA-MFIF: When misaligned multi-focus Image fusion meets deep homography estimation

Multi-focus image fusion is a technique that combines multiple out-of-focus images to enhance the overall image quality. It has gained significant attention in recent years, thanks to the advancements in deep learning. However, one of the persistent challenges in this field is the processing of misaligned data, which can negatively impact the fusion results. To overcome this problem, a novel fusion framework with pre-registration is proposed for the fusion of misaligned multi-focus images. For pre-registration, content-aware deep homography estimation is used, which performs transfer learning on a real multi-focus image dataset to adapt to registration under defocused conditions. For fusion, a fusion module with dual-branch feature interaction is utilized to avoid invalid feature fusion and trained on real light field dataset to achieve better fusion performance. Qualitative and quantitative experimental results show that the proposed method has a 2-3 percentage point improvement in multiple evaluation metrics compared to existing advanced registration and fusion methods, and a maximum improvement of 4.83 percentage points in fusion performance when tested independently on the Lytro dataset. Additionally, We find that the value of the Qcv metric is greatly influenced by the alignment status of the input images, leading to its inability to reflect the fusion quality of aligned images. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The advent of the Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies in the field of telecommunications has led to a tremendous reduction of costs as well as an increase in terms of infrastructure flexibility. Thus, equipments that play a pivotal role in telecommunications have merely been replaced by computers and their functions have accordingly been softwarized. To further reduce costs, some telecommunications carriers are now considering using decentralized grid computing-based networks to route a part of their traffic. The user-PC computer system (UPC) system is a technology for pooling and making available the unused computing resources (CPU) of the personal computers (PC) of members belonging to the same organization. For instance, in the drug discovery, economic forecasting, seismic analysis fields that deal with computationally intensive problem solving, Grid Computing has become an essential tool for building an affordable computing environment. We have previously designed an efficient static job scheduling genetic algorithm considering CPU core utilization for the UPC system. It finds an optimal assignment that minimizes the processing time of the available set of jobs in a static scenario, i.e., jobs are all available in the beginning and all worker PCs are idle. However, in reality, jobs join and leave the system dynamically and therefore, when new jobs join the system, some workers may be busy. In this paper, we propose an extension of our previously proposed static job scheduling genetic algorithm, that considers dynamic job scheduling in the UPC system. We conducted experiments using six worker PCs and up to 51 jobs. A comparative study of the results obtained using our dynamic scheduling genetic algorithm showed an improvement of about 13.67% in Makespan compared to that of the Dynamic Randomized Multi-Start Local Search (DRMSLS)-based method. © 2024 IEEE.

In solving multi-objective vehicle routing problems with time windows (MOVRPTW),most existing algorithms focus on the optimization of a single problem formulation. However,little effort has been devoted to exploiting valuable knowledge from the alternate formulations of MOVRPTW for better optimization performance. Aiming at this insufficiency,this study proposes a decomposition-based multi-objective multiform evolutionary algorithm (MMFEA/D),which performs the evolutionary search on multiple alternate formulations of MOVRPTW simultaneously to complement each other. In particular,the main characteristics of MMFEA/D are three folds. First,a multiform construction (MFC) strategy is adopted to construct multiple alternate formulations,each of which is formulated by grouping several adjacent subproblems based on the decomposition of MOVRPTW. Second,a transfer reproduction (TFR) mechanism is designed to generate offspring for each formulation via transferring promising solutions from other formulations,making that the useful traits captured from different formulations can be shared and leveraged to guide the evolutionary search. Third,an adaptive local search (ALS) strategy is developed to invest search effort on different alternate formulations as per their usefulness for MOVRPTW,thus facilitating the efficient allocation of computational resources. Experimental studies have demonstrated the superior performance of MMFEA/D on the classical Solomon instances and the real-world instances.

This short paper with a video demonstration presents an add-on adaptive speed control module designed for pipeline inspection gauges (PIGs). The module integrates multiple sensors, a rotary valve unit with an actuator, and an embedded controller. The module's speed control is realized by adjusting the valve angle (morphological adaptation), which modulates bypass flow and, subsequently, moving speed. An Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is utilized for sensor fusion and module speed estimation. Closed-loop Proportional-Derivative (PD) control automatically adjusts the valve angle or adapts the module morphology based on the difference between estimated and desired speeds, ensuring precise speed regulation. The module's performance is evaluated and demonstrated in an industrial pipeline environment under various fluid flow rates. © 2025 IEEE.
