Helical cruciform fuels are novel in nuclear reactors, potential to increase reactor’s power density. However, the geometry is complicated so influence of it on the fuel performance is not identified yet. In this paper, impact of power density, cross-section parameters, and twist pitch on thermal and mechanical characteristics of fuel used in Fluoride-Salt-cooled high-Temperature Advanced reactor is discussed based on fluid-thermal-mechanical coupling. For thermal features, twist pitch is key while others have few effects. Increase in twist pitch leads to temperature uniformity and rise owing to weaker mixing effects. Fuel center temperature at middle plane of 300mm-pitch rod is 829.58℃, 54.66℃ higher than that of 100mm-pitch rod. Difference of maximum and minimum temperature at 45° cross section of 500mm-pitch rod is 153.62℃, while the figure is only 74.00℃ of 300mm-pitch rod. Besides, axial temperature of cladding outer surface increases wavelike due to complex geometry. For mechanical features, not geometry sizes but temperature affects stress distribution. Maximum Von-Mises stress appears at the elbow, where maximum temperature exists, 116.8MPa under normal conditions, lower than tensile strength of the material. After identifying the influence of these factors, five dimensionless parameters are proposed to evaluate and rate fuel performance based on Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution. As a result, an optimization comes up, scoring 0.310, twice more than the original design, owing to the thermal uniformity and mechanical safety. This study provides a reference for identifying and evaluating the performance of helical structure. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The liquid metal reactor, specifically the lead-based fast reactor and the sodium-cooled fast reactor, are generally recognized as the most significant representatives of the Gen IV reactors due to their sustainability, economy, security and reliability. In order to conduct thermal-hydraulic safety analysis for liquid metal cooled fast reactors, adaptive improvements are made to the model and solution algorithms based on the sub-channel analysis method, and a Sub-channel Analysis Code Of Safety for Liquid Metal cooled reactor (SACOS-LMR) is developed. The validation of SACOS-LMR is conducted using classic experimental data of liquid metal. The results show that the dimensionless temperature deviations of ORNL 19-pin test and Toshiba 37-pin test are within 10%, and the relative temperature deviations of KIT-KALLA 19-pin test are within 25%. These findings confirm the accuracy and reliability of SACOS-LMR in predicting the temperature distribution of liquid metal reactors. Ultimately, calculations conducted on the ALFRED lead-cooled fast reactor demonstrated the practical utility of the code and have certain guiding significance for its subsequent design and development. © 2024, The Authors. In this study,a human-sensitive frequency band vibration isolator(HFBVI)with quasi-zero stiffness(QZS)characteristics for heavy-duty truck seats is designed to improve the comfort of heavy-duty truck drivers on uneven ***,the analytical expressions for the force and displacement of the HFBVI are derived with the Lagrange equation and d'Alembert's principle,and are validated through the prototype restoring force ***,the harmonic balance method(HBM)is used to obtain the dynamic responses under harmonic excitation,and further the influence of pre-stretching on the dynamic characteristics and transmissibility is ***,the experimental prototype of the HFBVI is fabricated,and vibration experiments are conducted under harmonic excitation to verify the vibration isolation performance(VIP)of the proposed vibration *** experimental results indicate that the HFBVI can effectively suppress the frequency band(4-8 Hz)to which the human body is sensitive to vertical *** addition,under real random road spectrum excitation,the HFBVI can achieve low-frequency vibration isolation close to 2 Hz,providing new prospects for ensuring the health of heavy-duty truck drivers.

The reactor Operation Digital Twin (RODT) is a numerical representation method designed for the operational phase of nuclear reactors, aiming to solve forward problems (such as state prediction) based on input parameters and inverse problems (such as parameter identification) utilizing additional measurement data, in order to enhance the economic benefits and safety of nuclear power. In this paper, we propose a solution for the forward problem in RODT based on a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) approach, where the MLP is used to directly learn the mapping relationship from low-dimensional inputs to high-dimensional outputs. Compared to previous methods, the proposed approach shows improved prediction accuracy, especially in situations with limited training data, demonstrating superior generalization capabilities and accuracy. To validate our contributions, we conducted a comparative experiment based on a engineering case, namely the reactor core simulation in the life cycle of a real-world nuclear ractor, which confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Corrosive Effect on Saturated Pool Boiling Heat Transfer Characteristics of Metallic Surfaces with Hierarchical Micro/Nano Structures

Surface modification is of critical interest to enhance boiling heat transfer in terms of heat transfer coefficient or critical heat flux (CHF), which is significantly affected by distinct surface morphology and wettability and it can improve the efficiency and safety of equipment. Furthermore, actual service environment may cause severe corrosion to the processed structured surfaces while its consequence on boiling heat transfer is still obscure. In this research, comprehensive researches are conducted to unravel corrosive effect on metallic samples made of stainless steel (SS) and Inconel materials with microstructures. Different constructions (i.e., microgroove, microcavity and micropillar array) and characteristic dimensions (~20, 50 μm) of microstructure, various duration time (up to 300 days) and pH values (~7.0 to 8.5) of corrosive environment are compared thoroughly. Conclusions can be drawn that not all microstructures can enhance pool boiling heat transfer characteristics, especially in terms of CHF values. More importantly, CHF value of SS microgroove sample firstly increases from 60.94 to 94.09 W·cm-2 in 50 days, then decreases to 47.77 W·cm-2 in 300 days, which can be attributed to competition result between formation of hierarchical micro/nano structure with enhancing wicking capability and chemistry condition with increasing contact angle. In addition, distinct bubble dynamics during pool boiling is also analyzed. The insights obtained from this article can be used to guide surface modification method and to reveal evolvement rule of engineered metallic surface in highly corrosive and harsh boiling heating transfer environment. © 2023, The Authors. Larger Recovery Strain in a Conisi Alloy Due to Enhanced Reversibility of FccHcp Martensitic Transformation

It is not clear how coherent ordered nanoparticles affect characteristics of FCCHCP martensitic transformation in disordered alloys. In this paper, the precipitations of coherent ordered nanoparticles and their effects on the FCCHCP martensitic transformation were systematically investigated in a solution-treated Co24Ni6Si shape memory alloy. The results showed that both the coherent ordered L12 structured and L11 structured nanoparticles could precipitate even in the solution-treated Co24Ni6Si alloy followed by water quenching. The L12 structured nanoparticles strongly hindered the occurrence of stress-induced HCP martensitic transformation and its reverse transformation, but their hindrance dramatically reduced with the decrease of size when below 1.5 nm. The coherent ordered nanoparticles did not convert the nonthermoelastic FCCHCP martensitic transformation to the thermoelastic ones owing to absence of group-subgroup relation between the parent phase and martensite. A maximal recovery strain of 6.7% was obtained after only aging at 1073 K for 1 min. This value was 1~2% higher than the reported maximal ones in conventional FeMnSi-based alloys subjected to complicated thermomechanical treatments. The enhanced reversibility of HCP martensitic transformation could account for this larger recovery strain by the ultrafine coherent ordered L12 structured nanoparticles. © 2023, The Authors. Underwater object detection and recognition are still challenging because of the degradation caused by the complex underwater imaging environment and lighting conditions. Aiming at the problems of the simultaneous enhancement and super-resolution (SESR), a method with single image super-resolution and enhancement of underwater imagery is proposed. Firstly, an underwater image super-resolution algorithm is proposed to remove blurring, and then an end-to-end underwater image enhancement network is used to compensate for color casts and produce natural color enhancement images. In addition, we verify the effectiveness of the proposed model through qualitative analysis and quantitative experiments and compare the performance with several state-of-the-art models, which show that the proposed method performs better. © 2021 IEEE.

Uncontrollable dendrite growth and side reactions resulting in short operating life and low Coulombic efficiency have severely hindered the further development of aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs).In this work,we designed to grow zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8)uniformly on CuO nanosheets(NSs)and prepared carbon-coated CuZn alloy NSs(CuZn@C NSs)by calcination under H2/Ar *** reflected by extended X-ray absorption fine structure(EXAFS),density functional theory(DFT),and in-situ Raman,the Cu-Zn and Zn-N bonds present in CuZn@C NSs act as zincophilic sites to uniformly absorb Zn ions and inhibit the formation of Zn *** the same time,CuZn@C NSs hinder the direct contact between zinc anode and electrolyte,preventing the occurrence of side *** impressively,the symmetric cells constructed with CuZn@C NSs anodes exhibited excellent zinc plating/exfoliation performance and long life cycle at different current densities with low voltage *** addition,low polarization,high capacity retention,and long cycle life over 1000 cycles at 5 A·g-1 were achieved when CuZn@C NSs were used as anodes for CuZn@C/V2O5 full cells.

Inspection robots are widely used in transformer substation for inspection tasks. In order to complete the task, the robots need to understand and recognize road scenes. However, the transformer substation contains lots of similar and small equipment, which are difficult to recognize. To address this problem, we propose a semantic segmentation model to recognize road scenes. Specifically, our proposed model discriminates the equipment by leveraging multi-view method. We use attention mechanism to strengthen the relationship between pixels that belong to an individual category. Compared with previous methods, our approach achieves a good performance in a new dataset from a transformer substation and shows robustness in recognizing equipment of transformer substation. © 2021 IEEE.

Handcrafting heuristics often demands extensive domain knowledge and significant development effort. Recently, heuristic search powered by large language models (LLMs) has emerged as a new approach, offering enhanced automation and promising performance. Existing methods rely on an evolutionary computation (EC) framework with carefully designed prompt strategies. However, the large heuristic search space poses significant challenges for these EC-based methods. This paper proposes a simple yet effective LLM-driven Heuristic Neighborhood Search (LHNS) paradigm to iteratively search in the heuristic neighborhood in a principled way for efficient heuristic design. Three distinct methods are designed under this neighborhood search paradigm and demonstrated on three widely studied problems. Results indicate that LHNS exhibits very competitive performance and surpasses existing EC-based methods in efficiency. It also demonstrates sufficient robustness in the absence of problem-specific knowledge regarding the target problem. The efficiency and robust adaptability make it a practical new solution for efficient heuristic design.
