Effects of organosilane-modified PCE (OS-PCE) on the fluidity and the hydration properties of cement-fly ash (FA) composite binder were systematically *** experimental results show that OS-PCE possesses respectively 36.98% and 36.67% higher saturated adsorption amount on cement and FA,in comparison with ordinary PCE,and can contribute to higher fluidity of cement-FA composite *** addition of OS-PCE retards hydration process of cement-FA composite binder proportionally with the dosage of OS-PCE,but promotes the hydration kinetics of the composite *** reactivity enhancement is attributed to the well-dispersed FA by OS-PCE,which provides more nucleation sites for the reaction of heterogeneous C-S-H and enhances the contact with water to react with CH forming pozzolanic ***-distributed hydration products are exhibited in the hardened binder added with OS-PCE,with a large number of hydrated gels uniformly fill in the pores and gaps,which improves the compaction of the hardened structure.

design for continuous fiber-reinforced polymer additive manufacturing (CFRP-AM) has evolved from sequential approaches to concurrent design methods, enabling the simultaneous optimization of structural topology and fiber toolpaths. However, existing studies fails to consider the manufacturing constraints inherent to CFRP-AM, such as toolpath width consistency and fiber continuity, which are critical to achieving both performance and manufacturability. To address these challenges, this study proposes an extended integrated structure and toolpath optimization (ISTO) method for CFRP-AM that embeds manufacturing constraints directly into the optimization problem formulation. Specifically, the toolpath width consistency constraint is modeled as a function of the scalar field gradient, with deviations minimized through standard deviation control to ensure uniform fiber deposition. The fiber continuity constraint is quantified through a penalty term derived from the logical interplay between structural and toolpath variables, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted fiber toolpaths. The method enables the concurrent optimization of structural topology and fiber toolpaths, generating designs that are both structurally robust and practically manufacturable. Case studies, including a Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) benchmark and applications in lightweight robotic systems, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in improving manufacturability and structural performance. This method not only bridges the gap between theoretical structural design and practical manufacturing implementation but also provides a novel design paradigm for structural components in lightweight robotic systems, highlighting its potential for broader engineering applications.

Exploring the mutual benefit and reciprocity of sensing and communication (S&C) functions is fundamental to realizing deeper integration for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems. This paper investigates a novel communication-assisted sensing (CAS) system within 6G perceptive networks, where the base station actively senses the targets through device-free wireless sensing and simultaneously transmits the estimated information to end-users. In such a CAS system, we first establish an optimal waveform design framework based on the rate-distortion (RD) and source-channel separation (SCT) theorems. After analyzing the relationships between the sensing distortion, coding rate, and communication channel capacity, we propose two distinct waveform design strategies in the scenario of target impulse response estimation. In the separated S&C waveforms scheme, we equivalently transform the original problem into a power allocation problem and develop a low-complexity one-dimensional search algorithm, shedding light on a notable power allocation tradeoff between the S&C waveform. In the dual-functional waveform scheme, we conceive a heuristic mutual information optimization algorithm for the general case, alongside a modified gradient projection algorithm tailored for the scenarios with independent sensing sub-channels. Additionally, we identify the presence of both subspace tradeoff and water-filling tradeoff in this scheme. Characterization of molten 2LiF–BeF_2 salt impregnated into graphite matrix of fuel elements for thorium molten salt reactor

The impregnation behavior of molten 2LiF–BeF_2(FLiBe) salt into a graphite matrix of fuel elements for a solid fuel thorium molten salt reactor(TMSR-SF) at pressures varying from 0.4 to 1.0 MPa was studied by mercury intrusion, molten salt impregnation, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy *** was found that the entrance pore diameter of the graphite matrix is less than 1.0 μm and the contact angle is about 135°. The threshold impregnation pressure was found to be around 0.6 MPa experimentally, consistent with the predicted value of 0.57 MPa by the Washburn equation. With the increase of pressure from 0.6 to 1.0 MPa, the average weight gain of the matrix increased from 3.05 to 10.48%,corresponding to an impregnation volume increase from 2.74 to 9.40%. The diffraction patterns of FLiBe are found in matrices with high impregnation pressures(0.8 MPa and1.0 MPa). The FLiBe with sizes varying from tens of nanometers to a micrometer mainly occupies the open pores in the graphite matrix. The graphite matrix could inhibit the impregnation of the molten salt in the TMSR-SF with a maximum operation pressure of less than 0.5 MPa.

A new potential class of nanolaminated and structurally complex materials, herein conceived as the Zigzag IntermetAllic (ZIA) phases, is proposed. A study of the constituent phases of a specific Nb–Si–Ni intermetallic alloy revealed that its ternary H-phase, i.e., the Nb3SiNi2 intermetallic compound (IMC), is a crystalline solid with the close-packed fcc Bravais lattice, the 312 MAX phase stoichiometry and a layered atomic arrangement that may define an entire class of nanolaminated IMCs analogous to the nanolaminated ceramic compounds known today as the MAX phases. The electron microscopy investigation of the Nb3SiNi2 compound – the first candidate ZIA phase – revealed a remarkable structural complexity, as its ordered unit cell is made of 96 atoms. The ZIA phases extend the concept of nanolaminated crystalline solids well beyond the MAX phases family of early transition metal carbides/nitrides, most likely broadening the spectrum of achievable material properties into domains typically not covered by the MAX phases. Furthermore, this work uncovers that both families of nanolaminated crystalline solids, i.e., the herein introduced fcc ZIA phases and all known variants of the hcp MAX phases, obey the same overarching stoichiometric rule Px+yAxNy, where x and y are integers ranging from 1 to 6. © 2023, CC BY.

Fatigue damage is one of the main failures of the scraper chain. Moreover, corrosive wear has a detrimental effect on fatigue crack propagation. It is so essential to study the fatigue reliability of the scraper chain considering the interaction of corrosive wear and fatigue. This paper is intended to propose a reliability-based estimation and optimal design of the scraper chain considering the performance degradation of the scraper chain under the interaction of corrosive wear and fatigue. First, the dynamic model of the scraper conveyor is established based on the finite element method. Second, Paris Low is used to empirically describe the occurrence of cracking with corrosion effects. Furthermore, the time-dependent reliability of scraper chains under the interaction of the corrosive wear and fatigue crack propagation is addressed by the fourth-moment saddlepoint approximation (FMSA) method, and the reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) of the scraper chain is then carried out. Finally, the applicability of the proposed method is verified by the SGZ1000/1400 scraper conveyor.

Enhancing the efficiency and safety of the Intelligent Transportation system requires effective modeling and prediction of citywide traffic dynamics. Most studies employ convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with a 3D convolutional structure or spatio-temporal models with self-attention mechanisms to capture the spatio-temporal information of traffic distribution. Although 3D CNNs excel at capturing local contextual information, they are computationally complex due to the large number of parameters and cannot capture long-range dependence. By contrast, although self-attention mechanisms originally designed to address challenges in natural language processing can capture long-range dependence, their application to 2D image structures requires breaking down the inherent 2D context into a 1D sequence, increasing the computational complexity and neglecting the adaptability between local contextual information and channels. Accordingly, we propose a spatio-temporal visual attention neural network (STVANet), a novel spatio-temporal visual attention 2D CNN, which integrates a unique visual attention module with a large kernel attention (LKA) mechanism and a feedforward component to capture long-range dependence and channel information in urban traffic data while preserving the 2D image structure. LKA-based spatio-temporal attention networks extract spatial and temporal features from weekly, daily, and recent hourly periods, and aggregate them with weighted consideration of external features to make predictions. Evaluation of real-world datasets demonstrates STVANet’s superiority over baseline models, showcasing its potential in citywide traffic prediction. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Under ocean conditions, the nuclear power plants have complex movements due to the effects of wind and wave. The thermal-hydraulic characteristics of the nuclear power plants under ocean conditions are influenced by its various motions. To ensure the safety of the reactor, the research on the effects of various motions on its thermal-hydraulic characteristics are necessary. The previous research has shown that heaving condition has more serious effects on the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of the nuclear power plants. In this paper, a thermal-hydraulic system code for ocean conditions named STAC was developed, and the STAC code was validated by test data. The effects of heaving conditions on the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of the system under forced circulation and natural circulation are studied with the STAC code. The simulation results show that the thermal parameters of the reactor system under heaving condition fluctuate periodically, and the fluctuation period is the same as the heaving period. The delay of the variation of circuit flow and the thermal inertia of the fuel material cause a phase difference between the fluctuations of the thermal parameters of reactor core. Heaving motion has less effect on the nuclear power system under forced circulation than that under natural circulation. As the amplitude of the acceleration increases, the fluctuation amplitudes of thermal-hydraulic parameters in the nuclear power system increase. Under heaving condition with short period, the fluctuation amplitudes of thermal-hydraulic parameters are affected by the heaving period. With the increase of the fluctuation period, the fluctuation amplitudes of thermal-hydraulic parameters increase gradually, and finally approach certain values. Copyright © 2018-2019 by JSME
