The high proportion of new energy penetration brings a series of challenges to the operation and schedule of the power grid, and the real-time operation status of the power grid requires more accurate and efficient prediction and management. This paper proposes a short-term real-time schedule method with hybrid energy storage for the power system stochastic operation. This method takes the minimum total cost of system operation as the optimization goal, integrates the operating constraints of thermal power, hybrid energy storage system, electric vehicle and wind farm, and compares the economy of the system under different energy storage configuration schemes. In addition, the Model Predictive Control (MPC) is applied to deal with the uncertainties of wind generation and load. Finally, case studies demonstrate the advantage of hybrid energy storage in flexibility enhancement and the effectiveness of MPC in uncertainty handling for power system scheduling. © 2023 IEEE.

The utilization of robot inspections and accurate, rapid identification of fault targets in images through artificial intelligence technology represents an important research area in the field of intelligent operation and maintenance for substations. To address the issue of massive image data collected by robot inspections, an abnormal scene image recognition method is proposed for intelligent operation and maintenance of electrical equipment in substations, with consideration for both the accuracy and real-time performance of object detection. Firstly, the research status and development trend of intelligent operation and maintenance technology of substation electrical equipment is elaborated. Subsequently, a fault detection model for intelligent operation and maintenance of electrical equipment in substations is proposed based on YOLO v5 deep neural network. To improve the detection speed of the model, Cross Stage Partial (CSP) and Spatial Pyramid Pooling Fast (SPPF) structures are utilised to reduce model parameters. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed model is validated through two application scenarios: substation foreign object suspension image recognition and thermal defect detection based on infrared images. The experimental results demonstrate that the model achieves a detection accuracy of 99.8% in foreign object suspension detection for electrical equipment, with an average frame rate of 149 frames/s. Moreover, the model has an accuracy of 98.9% for the detection of thermal defects in infrared images of electrical equipment, with an average frame rate of 123 frames/s. These results satisfy the application requirements for real-time monitoring. © 2023 IEEE.

In the pursuit of a sustainable future, lithium-ion battery is an indispensable energy storage device in grid-scale energy storage systems. However, the prevalent cathode electrode manufacturing processes encounter obstacles in terms of their environmental harmfulness and costliness, primarily attributed to the toxic solvent desiccation and reclamation stages. Moreover, the reliance on lithium-ion batteries particularly underscores the necessity for augmenting energy density, both in terms of volume and weight, with the cathode as the pivotal factor. Dry electrode fabrication emerges as an economical approach to attain heightened material loadings. Herein, we utilize binder fibrillation method to prepare 5 kinds of thickness cathode, the research shows that the dry electrode exhibits a capacity retention of 51.7%, surpassing the 44.3% retention of the traditional wet-based electrode at a loading of roughly 30 mg c m-2(4 mAh / cm2) and is also capable of performing at ultra-high loadings up to 100 mg cm -2 (20 mAh / cm2). This exceptional cycling endurance can be attributed to a robust, interconnected binder fiber by air mill and enhanced mechanical attributes. © 2024 IEEE.

With the further development of "double high" characteristics of power system, the traditional stability problem dominated by synchronous generator has gradually evolved into a new stability problem dominated by power electronic equipment control. In addition, different types of failure problems can occur in wind power systems. In order to achieve multi-objective coordinated and stable operation of high proportion wind power system, a damping control method with parameters tuning is proposed, which includes the design of filtering link and proportional amplification link. Among them, the key parameters of the proportional link are adjusted. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed control method is verified by simulation tests. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Research on the physical mechanism of discontinuous development for the positive leader discharge is fundamental for optimizing the external insulation design of transmission lines. The effect of dark periods on the subsequent restrike, as a factor determining the discontinuous development feature, is investigated by means of a current measurement system with a wide dynamic range and direct optical imaging. With the increase of the voltage change rate, the duration of dark periods decreases, and the subsequent restrike is facilitated to occur and end the dark period. In addition, the discharge current and the amount of charge, representing the electrical characteristics, increase in the restrike process with the increase of these electrical parameters in the previous dark period. Two equations are suggested for fitting positive correlations of these parameters in the dark period and restrike processes. © 2023 IEEE.

To precisely model the transient behavior of the 4-limb converter transformers used in the Kunliulong VSC-LCC HVDC project during faults or breakers operations, it is required to rewrite a new 4-limb transformer model instead of the built-in 2-limb single-phase UMEC model for use in PSCAD/EMTDC. The modified UMEC model takes the structure and the magnetic paths of the 4-limb iron core into account. Considering that the UMEC and converter model requires a heavy computation load, improving the UMEC algorithm to meet the HVDC simulation requirements is suggested. The model is verified by the factory experiment datasheet and field experiment data of both the 158V 4-limb prototype and 303kV transformer. The model is finally integrated into the Kunliulong HVDC PSCAD model and the results show that the model can precisely model the transient behavior of the power system. © 2022 IEEE.

Partial discharge(PD) of generator stator bars is an important basis for generator insulation diagnosis. The traditional supervised classification model requires a large number of labeled training samples, which has high requirements on sample quality, and it is difficult to construct and optimize the performance of conditional classifiers with few labeled samples. To solve the problems, this paper proposes a feature extraction method based on bag of visual features(BOVF) and active learning QBC-Catboost partial discharge pattern recognition model. First, the model constructs BOVF of PRPD through bag of visual words model, and then uses active learning query by committee (QBC) strategy and Catboost classifier to jointly measure sample value and complete value retrieval. Finally, BOVF -QBC-Catboost model realizes labeling cost constraint and recognition performance optimization. Based on laboratory conditions, five typical defective of stator bars were designed and defect samples were obtained to verify the validity of the model. The accuracy of BOVF can be improved by up to 5.3 % compared with the statistical characteristics of discharge. The recognition accuracy of QBC-Catboost model with 25% sample labeling rate can reach 98.4%, and the difference of recognition accuracy between QBC-Catboost model and fully labeled random sampling model is only 1.0%. The experimental results show that BOVF and QBC-Catboost recognition model can effectively mine discharge characteristics, complete value sample retrieval, effectively constrain the training cost, and realize the construction of high-performance classification model. © 2024 IEEE.

The doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG) is connected to a series compensation line, and the converter controllers interact with the series compensation line to produce sub-synchronous control interaction(SSCI). In this paper, a method of solving the equivalent resistance modeling of DFIG through a small-signal path is proposed to get the effect of converter control parameters on the damping of DFIG. Firstly, The small signal model is solved by the dynamic equation of DFIG, and the equivalent impedance of the small signal path is obtained. Secondly, the Morris screening method takes the equivalent impedance as the evaluation quantity to screen out the control parameters that have a great impact on damping and the control parameters with coupling effect. Finally, The control parameters have a coupling effect and have different degrees of influence on SSCI through the simulation analysis, so the optimized design of controller parameters can attenuate SSCI of DFIG and reduce the risk. © 2024 SPIE.

There are multiple corona bursts before leader inception when the rising rate of the applied voltage or electric field is not sufficiently high enough in long positive *** existing studies,no attention has been paid to whether these corona bursts occur in the same location,and they are mostly considered directly as belonging to the same ***,this paper presents that in a typical rod-plate long air gap,the multiple corona bursts before leader inception are distributed in at least two different locations,and the highest probability of three discharges ***,the discharge occurs with the highest probability in the time sequence‘tip-tip-side-tip-other side’of the electrode in the first five corona *** each discharge,the first corona current is a single,double exponential pulse,while the following corona currents are mostly a superposition of multiple *** above findings are mainly based on experiments in a 1.4 m air gap under positive switching impulses,in which the voltage,current,and high-speed images were recorded ***,based on the experimental results,this paper discusses the effects brought by ignoring the multiple discharges on key parameters of leader inception and makes some suggestions to optimise long spark experiments.

This paper introduces a defect detection technique for electrical porcelain bushings utilizing laser-excited thermal diffusion waves. Electrical bushings, crucial in power transmission, are prone to defects due to various factors, posing significant threats. This technology applies controlled thermal excitation to specimens, manifesting internal defects as abnormal surface temperature distributions captured by infrared thermography. The effectiveness of the technique is investigated through ceramic bushing specimens with varying defect sizes and depths. Results demonstrate its capability to detect defects up to 12mm below the surface, with periodic excitation showing superior performance for deeper defects. © 2024 IEEE.
