Hydrothermal growth of regular ZnO nanoflowers for superhigh-detectivity ultraviolet photodetector application

In this work， a facile hydrothermal method was used to grow ZnO nanoflowers onto an interdigital patterned fluorine-doped tin oxide （FTO） glass substrate， the crystal structure and morphology of the sample were first investigated. The results showed that a great number of regular ZnO nanoflowers grew onto the substrate. Furthermore， the ZnO nanoflowers were used as photosensitive layers， a ultraviolet （UV） photodetector was achieved， its UV sensing performance was evaluated in detail. The results indicated that this ZnO nanoflowers UV photodetector exhibited good response to 365 nm UV light， its responsivity and detectivity were up to 135.5 A/W （5 V） and 1.5 × 1013Jones， respectively， the response speed was rapid （4.96 s）. This work explored a new way for achieving the high-performance nanostructured ZnO UV photodetectors.

Optical metasurfaces are engineered 2D electromagnetic structures enabling flat optical elements with properties not readily found in nature. Their unit cells, meta-atoms, usually are represented by a set of electric and magnetic multipoles. All-dielectric-based metasurfaces have recently attracted significant attention owing to their virtually lossless transmission properties at optical frequencies. A majority of reported dielectric metamaterials are composed of relatively simple meta-atoms such as spheres, cubes, and cylinders, whose electromagnetic response is dominated by the electric dipole. However, magnetic dipoles and higher-order multipoles may enable new optical properties and functionalities, including directional scattering, beam steering, and new frequency generation. Despite impressive progress in the field of optical metamaterials and nanofabrication technologies, engineering meta-atoms that support such higher-order resonances is still challenging. Here, we demonstrate that designed titanium dioxide meta-atoms can enable dominant magnetic dipole response. We apply a machine-learning model to predict a meta-atom shape with a strong magnetic dipole resonant mode at the operating wavelength of 750 nm. Using finite-element-based numerical simulations implemented in COMSOL Multiphysics, we found that the optimized meta-atom is robust against experimental variations and conditions such as a non-perfectly collimated incident beam, nanofabrication inaccuracies, and an added substrate. The meta-atoms have been fabricated using two approaches, focused ion beam lithography and an electron beam lithography followed by reactive ion etching, and characterized using white light spectroscopy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first experimental realization of a machine-learning-based optimization of a magnetic dipole mode at optical frequencies. © 2024 SPIE.

Bi-Directional and Triangular Circulation Fusion Neural Networks for Small Object Detection

Deep learning-driven object detection models are capable of accurately identifying and localizing objects. However, small objects contain limited information relative to global features, resulting in the fact that detection models often do not learn small object features adequately. To enhance the precision in detecting small objects, we propose a bi-directional and triangular circulation fusion neural network (BTFN). First, to selectively strengthen the position features of small objects, we propose a feature circulation extraction module composed of a bi-directional triangular densely nested convolutional network (BTF), thus achieving repetitive multi-layer feature fusion. Second, to fill up the semantic gaps between different scales of features, we design a mixed dual attention module (MDA) in the bi-directional triangular densely nested network. Third, to mitigate the lost information in the neural networks with deep layers as well as improve the inference time, we design a re-parameterization bi-directional composite feature fusion module (Rep-BFM) that fuses the features of multiple scales. The proposed model is evaluated extensively on the MS COCO, Tsinghua-Tencent 100k, and Haier dismantled parts of used home appliances datasets. The experiment results show that the proposed model improves the AP on MS COCO by 4%, especially the APS of small objects is improved by 7.7% compared with SOTA models. © 2024 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. Wildfires are a recurring concern in several regions around the globe, often leading to catastrophic outcomes. The increasing accessibility of small satellites operating in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) has led to the potential for enhancing the speed of wildfire detection b y utilizing constellations of m any miniature satellites in the areas of interest. This research presents a system model for detecting and reporting wildfires to fire stations using LEO satellites. In this paper, we propose a transfer learning-based lightweight deep learning wildfire detection model at the base station to analyze pictures captured by LEO satellites and make predictions on the occurrence of wildfires. We use MobileNetV2 as our backbone model. MobileNetV2 is a lightweight model with low parameters. Lightweight models for image categorization offer faster inference, lower power consumption, efficient memory u sage, a nd ease of deployment, making them well-suited for real-time applications. However, a highly parameterized model can perform better than a poorly parameterized model. We apply transfer learning to ensure high performance in a low-parameterized model. The server must continuously check the images of all forest regions within a limited interval period to detect wildfires quickly. The lightweight model is very suitable for continuous image checking. Our experimental setup uses four baselines: VGG16, ResNet152, DenseNet161, and MobileNetv2. This study shows the efficacy of models in acquiring information from many sources within a given topic, as opposed to starting with no prior knowledge. We can also find from t he experimental results that our proposed low-parameterized transfer learning-based mobileNetV2 model achieves near 100 % accuracy, outperforming the other high-parameterized baselines. © 2024 IEEE.

There is a large amount of information in the network data that we canexploit. It is difficult for classical community detection algorithms to handle network data with sparse topology. Representation learning of network data is usually paired with clustering algorithms to solve the community detection ***, there is always an unpredictable distribution of class clusters outputby graph representation learning. Therefore, we propose an improved densitypeak clustering algorithm (ILDPC) for the community detection problem, whichimproves the local density mechanism in the original algorithm and can betteraccommodate class clusters of different shapes. And we study the communitydetection in network data. The algorithm is paired with the benchmark modelGraph sample and aggregate (GraphSAGE) to show the adaptability of ILDPCfor community detection. The plotted decision diagram shows that the ILDPCalgorithm is more discriminative in selecting density peak points compared tothe original algorithm. Finally, the performance of K-means and other clusteringalgorithms on this benchmark model is compared, and the algorithm is proved tobe more suitable for community detection in sparse networks with the benchmarkmodel on the evaluation criterion F1-score. The sensitivity of the parameters ofthe ILDPC algorithm to the low-dimensional vector set output by the benchmarkmodel GraphSAGE is also analyzed.

To enhance the privacy of messages in Internet of Vehicles (IoVs), it is critical to preserve the communication security between Road Side Unit (RSU) and numerous vehicles. The primitive of signcryption is introduced to guarantee the confidentiality, integrity and unforgeability of transmitted messages. Nevertheless, the existing signcryption schemes fail to achieve a balance between security and efficiency. In this paper, we construct a Chinese remainder theorem (CRT) empowered certificateless aggregate signcryption scheme with key agreement (CASKA-CRT). As the vehicle joins and leaves dynamically, the proposed scheme can ensure the dynamic security via one modulo division operation. Besides, the certificateless aggregate signcryption and key agreement mechanisms are embedded. The former idea can both address the certificate management and key escrow problems, while the latter technology can create authentication as a premise of secure communication. Based on this construction, the hash-to-group operation and bilinear pairing are avoided, to realize a faster verification with the increased number of messages. Moreover, the security of proposed scheme is proved under the random oracle model. Finally, the performance analysis demonstrates the advantage of CASKA-CRT in terms of security and reliability over related works. IEEE

The anti-air and anti-missile system (AAAMS) comprises different types of functional entities and their interactions. Currently, the modeling of the AAAMS mainly divides combat entities into the sensor, decision-making, attack, and target equipment. However, there is still a lack of effective and suitable model construction methods for determining which equipment should be used for collaboration, and research on collaboration effectiveness evaluation is relatively scarce. In response to the practical situation of collaboration AAAMS combat, a new method for constructing a collaboration model of the AAAMS based on a heterogeneous network is proposed. By analyzing the characteristics of the AAAMS, the effectiveness evaluation indicators of the anti-air and anti-missile collaboration network (AAAMCN) are constructed from three dimensions: economy, flexibility, and attack and defense ability. The comprehensive evaluation method of AHP and TOPSIS is used to evaluate the effectiveness of the AAAMCN under different collaboration modes. Combined with specific case studies, the evaluation model is analyzed, and it is shown that this method can reduce the subjectivity of the collaboration network evaluation process and provide assistance for the verification and evaluation of the collaboration mode of the AAAMS. © Chinese Institute of Command and Control 2024.

Many of the current edge computing devices need efficient implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications due to strict latency, security and power requirements. Nonetheless, such devices, face various challenges when executing AI applications due to their limited computing and energy resources. In particular, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) is a popular machine learning method that derives a high-level function from being trained on various visual input examples. This paper contributes to enabling the use of CNN on resource-constrained devices offline, where a trade-off between accuracy, running time and power efficiency is verified. The paper investigates the use of minimum pre-processing methods of input data to identify nonessential computations in the convolutional layers. In this work, Spatial locality of input data is considered along with an efficient pre-processing method to mitigate the accuracy loss caused by the computational re-use approach. This technique was tested on LeNet and CIFAR-10 structures and was responsible for 1.9% and 1.6% accuracy loss while reducing the processing time by 38.3% and 20.9% and reducing the energy by 38.3%, and 20.7%, respectively. The models were deployed and verified on Raspberry Pi 4 B platform using the MATlab coder to measure time and energy. © 2023 IEEE.
