Dual-photoconductivity in monolayer PtSe_(2) ribbons

Two-dimensional platinum diselenide (PtSe_(2)) has been explored for applications in visible and infrared photodetectors, owing to its tunable electrical and optoelectronic properties governed by layer-dependent bandgaps. Studies have explored both positive photoconductivity (PPC) and negative photoconductivity (NPC) behaviors in few-layer PtSe_(2) thin films, proposing mechanisms related to gas molecule adsorption. However, these proposed mechanisms, typically based on models with ideal limit structures, often lacked consistency with the structure and scale of polycrystalline thin films employed in actual experiments. Here, photodetectors utilizing monolayer PtSe_(2) ribbons were designed, demonstrating a significant NPC effect upon exposure to visible light in atmospheric conditions, with device resistance increasing to over threefold the initial state. Under vacuum conditions, the device demonstrated PPC characteristics. Density functional theory calculations indicated that oxygen molecules physically adsorbed at the edges of PtSe_(2) ribbons were integral. Laser irradiation prompted the detachment of oxygen molecules from the ribbon’s edges, leading to a decreased carrier concentration in channel conductivity. The abundant edge sites of the ribbons endowed the photodetectors with a pronounced NPC response. This study diverted from traditional multilayer PtSe_(2) films to explore monolayer PtSe_(2) ribbons. These ribbons, as limit structures, offered a more fundamental insight into the intrinsic photoconductivity properties of PtSe_(2). Photodetectors employing PtSe_(2) ribbons presented novel application prospects in low-power photodetection, gas detection, and additional fields.

Deep learning (DL) is widely used in radio frequency fingerprint identification (RFFI). However, in few-shot case, traditional DL-based RFFI need to construct auxiliary dataset to realize radio frequency fingerprint identification. To address this issue, we propose a few-shot RFFI (FS-RFFI) method based on interpolating metric learning and KNN (IntML-KNN). Specifically, the method first extends the dataset with data augmentation, and CutMix interpolation. Secondly, combining with metric learning to enhance the generalization capacity of the model. Finally, KNN algorithm is designed to realize device classification and detection. The proposed IntML-KNN method is verified on the commercial available LoRa dataset. The experimental results indicate that the proposed scheme exhibits strong classification and generalization performance in FS-RFFI. Meanwhile, the recognition rate of the proposed IntML-KNN reaches 97.00% with only 10% samples. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

Traditional visual-inertial SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) systems predominantly rely on feature point matching from a single robot to realize the robot pose estimation and environment map construction. However, in complex scenarios, these traditional systems struggle with issues such as tracking failures due to illumination changes, rapid movements, and low-texture environments, and they perform poorly in terms of mapping efficiency and global consistency. To address these challenges, we propose a centralized collaborative SLAM system that employs both point and line features for tracking in the robot and map fusion in the cloud. The proposed system leverages the fusion of point and line features across all instances in the process, which allows our method to achieve higher localization accuracy in structured, low-texture scenes. With the aid of classifying gravity-aligned vertical lines and spatial parallel lines, the proposed system can deliver faster and more accurate odometry in complex scenes. Furthermore, we developed intra-robot and inter-robot loop closure detection methods based on point and line features, generating a globally consistent sparse point cloud and structured scene map in the cloud. Our method is able to build richer maps while improving accuracy compared to existing methods. Experimental results on public datasets and in real-world environments show that, compared to existing advanced methods, our approach demonstrates better performance. © 2014 IEEE.

Multi-version graph processing has been widely used to solve many real-world problems. The process of the multi-version graph processing typically includes: (1) a history graph version switching at a specific time and (2) graph processing on this history graph. Existing multi-version graph systems assume ideally that every request for a particular graph version at a particular time will have a corresponding snapshot available. However, in most cases, this is not true. Then existing solutions usually have to settle with an "approximating"version as a substitute, leading to unexpected results for the underlying graph algorithm and thus reducing the practicality of a multi-version graph system for many application scenarios *** this paper, we observe that only a few graph updates have a great impact on the final results. We therefore present AFaVS, a novel multi-version graph system that can improve accuracy effectively in both time- and memory-efficient manners. The cornerstone of AFaVS lies in a novel concept "value"that characterizes the importance of graph updates. AFaVS proposes differential management of updates based on their values and achieves higher accuracy while preserving processing and memory efficiency. AFaVS is also equipped with value-guided version switching and locality-aware optimizations to boost its overall efficiency. Our results on a variety of real-world datasets show that AFaVS outperforms four state-of-the-art multi-version graph systems by 74.35%~95.72% in terms of accuracy improvement and 57.03%~90.44% in terms of memory reduction while introducing less than 2.96% extra computing time. We have deployed AFaVS in a disaster recovery system on the production cluster of Alibaba, achieving 78.8%~90.1% fewer error rates than advanced systems at a comparable efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

Brain-inspired computing methods have shown remarkable efficiency and robustness compared to deep neural networks (DNN). In particular, HyperDimensional Computing (HDC) and Vision Transformer (ViT) have demonstrated promising achievements in facilitating effective and reliable cognitive learning. This paper proposes SpatialHD, the first framework that combines spatial transformer networks (STN) and HDC. First, SpatialHD exploits the STN, which explicitly allows the spatial manipulation of data within the network. Then, it employs HDC to operate over STN output by mapping feature maps into high-dimensional space, learning abstracted information, and classifying data. In addition, the STN output is resized to generate a smaller input feature map. This further reduces computing complexity and memory storage compared to HDC alone. Finally, to test the model's functionality, we applied spatial HD for image classification, utilizing the MNIST and Fashion-MNIST datasets, using only 25% of the dataset for training. Our results show that SpatialHD improves accuracy by ≈ 8% and enhances efficiency by approximately 2.5x compared to base-HDC. © 2023 IEEE.

Modern SSDs achieve low latency and high throughput by utilizing multiple levels of SSD parallelism. Fairness is also a critical design consideration in cloud environments and has inspired great interest in recent years to study it. However, we find that excessive striving for SSD parallelism can inadvertently harm the SSD fairness due to the striped data layout. We observe from our experimental analysis that some common access patterns in cloud loads (e.g., high-intensity I/O) are not addressed by SSD parallelism, which can affect both SSD parallelism and fairness. In this paper, we analyze two address mapping policies with orthogonal characteristics from SSD parallelism and fairness perspectives. Based on extensive experiments and observations, we schedule a hybrid address mapping policy to achieve fairness of SSDs in cloud environments by distinguishing different I/O access modes and cold/hot data, while ensuring SSD performance. Experimental results on the latest block-level I/O traces show that our approach significantly improves performance and fairness by up to 77.3% and 62.8%, respectively, over the previous schemes with negligible cost. Meanwhile, it can also reduce the write amplification by 23.5% to 33.5%. © 2024 IEEE.
