The amalgamation of cell-free networks and reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has become a prospective technique for future sixth-generation wireless communication systems. In this paper, we focus on the precoding and beamforming design for a downlink RIS-aided cell-free network. The design is formulated as a non-convex optimization problem by jointly optimizing the combining vector, active precoding, and passive RIS beamforming for minimizing the weighted sum of users’ mean square error. A novel joint distributed precoding and beamforming framework is proposed to decentralize the alternating optimization method for acquiring a suboptimal solution to the design problem. Finally, numerical results validate the effectiveness of the proposed distributed precoding and beamforming framework, showing its low-complexity and improved scalability compared with the centralized method. Nascent MnO2 colloids produced during permanganate oxidation process is highly oxidative and appealing for the oxidation of emerging organic contaminants (EOCs). However, the nascent MnO2 colloids usually show dense bulked structure which blocks the availability of the active sites and further enhancement of the reactivity. Herein, spherical nascent MnO2 colloids with mesoporous structure were synthesized via redox reactions between colloidal nanospheres of plant polyphenol (e.g., tannic acid) and permanganate. The mesoporous nascent MnO2 colloids shows highly exposure of active sites with abundant of surface-Mn (III) (16.2 mol%), and thus exhibits outstanding oxidation performance towards the oxidation of EOCs. Complete removal of bis-phenol A (BPA, 10 mg/L) was obtained with 1.0 mM of mesoporous nascent MnO2 colloids in 40 min at neutral pH. Mechanism study reveals that both Mn(III) and Mn(IV) contribute to the oxidation of BPA. The presence of surface-Mn(III) greatly promotes the reactivity of the mesoporous nascent MnO2 colloids, leading to a high kinetic of 0.12 min−1 during the initial 10 min. The nascent mesoporous MnO2 colloids exhibits high selectivity toward electron rich EOCs and good performance in complicated water matrix, revealing a promising potential for further application. This work provides a distinct case for engineering novel structured nascent MnO2 colloids for efficient elimination of EOCs in water. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Disaster risk reduction is a priority in the Open science recommendations proposed by UNESCO. Diverse types of scattered disaster data are the basis for disaster prevention and mitigation. The realization of these interconnections and links remains challenging. This study proposes an open directory mechanism that facilitates the interoperability of global disaster data resources, named Global Disaster Data Master Directory (GDMD). Based on open standards and open-source technology, the prototype GDMD system was developed and deployed in the Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service (DRRKS) system at the UNESCO Category 2 centre. The GDMD realizes three types of disaster data resource aggregation: local resources built by DRRKS, manual cataloging from open disaster platforms worldwide, and protocol harvesting based on interoperable technology. Two types of retrieval services are implemented for users through local and federal searches. The master directory has interconnected over 1,400 resources. The open model of GDMD can realize Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable data governance in disaster risk reduction, further pushing the Open science mechanism and innovative applications of resources. © 2025 The Author(s).

Domain Disentangled Generative Adversarial Network for Zero-Shot Sketch-Based 3D Shape Retrieval

Sketch-based 3D shape retrieval is a challenging task due to the large domain discrepancy between sketches and 3D shapes. Since existing methods are trained and evaluated on the same categories, they cannot effectively recognize the categories that have not been used during training. In this paper, we propose a novel domain disentangled generative adversarial network (DD-GAN) for zero-shot sketch-based 3D retrieval, which can retrieve the unseen categories that are not accessed during training. Specifically, we first generate domain-invariant features and domain-specific features by disentangling the learned features of sketches and 3D shapes, where the domain-invariant features are used to align with the corresponding word embeddings. Then, we develop a generative adversarial network that combines the domain-specific features of the seen categories with the aligned domain-invariant features to synthesize samples, where the synthesized samples of the unseen categories are generated by using the corresponding word embeddings. Finally, we use the synthesized samples of the unseen categories combined with the real samples of the seen categories to train the network for retrieval, so that the unseen categories can be recognized. In order to reduce the domain shift problem, we utilized unlabeled unseen samples to enhance the discrimination ability of the discriminator. With the discriminator distinguishing the generated samples from the unlabeled unseen samples, the generator can generate more realistic unseen samples. Extensive experiments on the SHREC'13 and SHREC'14 datasets show that our method significantly improves the retrieval performance of the unseen categories. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. The rapid growth of electronic commerce (e-commerce) has revolutionized the global business landscape, transforming the way consumers and businesses interact, purchase, and sell goods and services. However, this sector faces a myriad of challenges that impede its sustainable growth and development. This research paper critically examines the current problems encountered by the electronic commerce sector and proposes viable solutions to address these issues. The study identifies three major problem areas affecting the sector: (1) Security and Privacy Concerns, (2) Logistics and Supply Chain Bottlenecks, and (3) Customer Experience and Trust. Regarding security and privacy, the proliferation of cyber-attacks, data breaches, and identity theft has eroded consumer confidence, hindering e-commerce adoption. The paper aims to investigate the latest technologies and best practices, such as blockchain, advanced encryption techniques, and robust authentication methods, to fortify e-commerce platforms against cyber threats and safeguard user data. The second problem area, logistics and supply chain bottleneck, poses challenges related to order fulfilment, inventory management, and last-mile delivery. Through an in-depth analysis, the research proposes innovative approaches like utilizing machine learning algorithms for predictive inventory management, integrating Internet of Things (IoT) devices for real-time tracking, and exploring drone and autonomous vehicle deliveries to enhance overall logistics efficiency. The third issue addressed in this paper pertains to customer experience and trust. The inability to tangibly experience products before purchase, coupled with ambiguous return policies, often deters potential customers from engaging in e-commerce transactions. Page migration has long been adopted in hybrid memory systems comprising dynamic random access memory (DRAM) and non-volatile memories (NVMs), to improve the system performance and energy efficiency. However, page migration introduces some side effects, such as more translation lookaside buffer (TLB) misses, breaking memory contiguity, and extra memory accesses due to page table updating. In this paper, we propose superpage-friendly page table called SuperPT to reduce the performance overhead of serving TLB misses. By leveraging a virtual hashed page table and a hybrid DRAM allocator, SuperPT performs address translations in a flexible and efficient way while still remaining the contiguity within the migrated pages. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The test preparation of flight products determines the length of the entire cycle from flight products entering the launch site to launch. The improvement of test efficiency is beneficial to the launch efficiency of the launch site. According to the test scheduling plan of flight products at the launch site, we propose test scheduling model based on related data-driven optimization and superimpose test elements on the test network schedule diagram. By means of the correlation between test item input, excitation and output response, the optimization strategy of test process was proposed to decompose and shorten the critical path on test network schedule. The strategy shortens the test cycle of flight products. Through practice, integration testing and good results have been obtained. © 2020 ACM.

Computer science is a practical discipline. It is always a great challenge to evaluate students' computer practice using computer-aided means for large scale students. We always need to address problems such as suspected plagiarism and deviation of the overall difficulty factor. In this paper, a multi-dimensional assessment model is designed for CS courses based on the detailed practice processing data in an E-learning system. The model comprehensively evaluates the students' learning process and results in three aspects of correctness, originality, and quality detection. Besides, the teacher can easily participate in the assessment according to their needs. The correctness is an essential requirement, and the originality is based on the clustering results of students' behaviors after clone detection to curb homework plagiarism. SonarQube is used to detect code quality and put forward higher requirements for codes. Manual participation intelligence has improved the flexibility and applicability of the model to a certain extent. We applied this model on the EduCoder online education platform and carried out a comprehensive analysis of 485 students in the Parallel Programming Principles and Practice Class of Huazhong University of science and technology. Experiment results confirm the distinction, rationality, and fairness of the model in assessing student performance. It not only gives students a credible, comprehensive score in large-scale online practical programming courses but also gives teachers and students corresponding suggestions based on the evaluation results. Furthermore, the model can be extended to other online education platforms. © 2020 ACM.

Hybrid Storage servers combining high-speed SSDs and high-capacity HDDs are designed for high cost-effectiveness and provide μs-level responsiveness for applications. Observations from the production hybrid cloud storage system Pangu suggest that HDDs are often severely underutilized while SSDs are overused, especially for writes that dominate the hybrid storage. This lopsided utilization between HDDs and SSDs leads to not only fast wear-out in the latter but also very high tail latency due to frequent garbage collections induced by intensive writes to the latter. On the other hand, our extensive experimental study reveals that a series of sequential and continuous writes to HDDs exhibit a periodic, staircase shaped pattern of write latency, i.e., low (e.g., 35s), middle (e.g., 55s), and high latency (e.g., 12ms), resulting from buffered writes in HDD's controller. This suggests that HDDs can potentially provide μs-level write IO delay (for appropriately scheduled writes), which is close to SSDs' write performance. These observations inspire us to effectively exploit this performance potential of HDDs to absorb as many writes as possible to avoid SSD overuse without performance degradation. To achieve this goal, we first characterize performance behaviors of hybrid storage in general and its HDDs in particular. Based on the findings on sequential and continuous writes, we propose a prediction model to accurately determine next write latency state (i.e., fast, middle and slow). With this model, a Buffer-Controlled Write approach, BCW, is proposed to proactively and effectively control buffered writes so that low- and mid-latency periods in HDDs are scheduled with application write data and high-latency periods are filled with padded data. Based on BCW, we design a mixed IO scheduler (MIOS) to adaptively steer incoming data to SSDs and HDDs according to write patterns, runtime queue lengths, and disk status. In LiDAR SLAM, data association of sparse LiDAR scan and high computational complexity of point-to-model metrics limit real-time applications of joint optimization module like Bundle Adjustment in Visual SLAM, which leads to cumulative errors deteriorating performance. To address this drawback, in this paper, we propose LPL-SLAM with plane and line optimization for the structural environment. Since plane and line primitives are ubiquitous in man-made environments, we treat the primitives as landmarks to process scans. We introduce line and plane factors relying on line-to-line and plane-to-plane metrics to optimize keyframe poses, planes and lines. With the line and plane factors, our system avoids a large-scale optimization problem and yields accurate and consistent tracking poses. Experimental results demonstrate that LPL-SLAM outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithms and achieves real-time performance.
