Event-based Video Frame Interpolation with Edge Guided Motion Refinement

Video frame interpolation, the process of synthesizing intermediate frames between sequential video frames, has made remarkable progress with the use of event cameras. These sensors, with microsecond-level temporal resolution, fill information gaps between frames by providing precise motion cues. However, contemporary Event-Based Video Frame Interpolation (E-VFI) techniques often neglect the fact that event data primarily supply high-confidence features at scene edges during multi-modal feature fusion, thereby diminishing the role of event signals in optical flow (OF) estimation and warping refinement. To address this overlooked aspect, we introduce an end-to-end E-VFI learning method (referred to as EGMR) to efficiently utilize edge features from event signals for motion flow and warping enhancement. Our method incorporates an Edge Guided Attentive (EGA) module, which rectifies estimated video motion through attentive aggregation based on the local correlation of multi-modal features in a coarse-to-fine strategy. Moreover, given that event data can provide accurate visual references at scene edges between consecutive frames, we introduce a learned visibility map derived from event data to adaptively mitigate the occlusion problem in the warping refinement process. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real datasets show the effectiveness of the proposed approach, demonstrating its potential for higher quality video frame interpolation. Bipartite Graph Reasoning GANs for Person Pose and Facial Image Synthesis

We present a novel bipartite graph reasoning Generative Adversarial Network (BiGraphGAN) for two challenging tasks: person pose and facial image synthesis. The proposed graph generator consists of two novel blocks that aim to model the pose-to-pose and pose-to-image relations, respectively. Specifically, the proposed bipartite graph reasoning (BGR) block aims to reason the long-range cross relations between the source and target pose in a bipartite graph, which mitigates some of the challenges caused by pose deformation. Moreover, we propose a new interaction-and-aggregation (IA) block to effectively update and enhance the feature representation capability of both a person’s shape and appearance in an interactive way. To further capture the change in pose of each part more precisely, we propose a novel part-aware bipartite graph reasoning (PBGR) block to decompose the task of reasoning the global structure transformation with a bipartite graph into learning different local transformations for different semantic body/face parts. Experiments on two challenging generation tasks with three public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods in terms of objective quantitative scores and subjective visual realness. LLMDet: Learning Strong Open-Vocabulary Object Detectors under the Supervision of Large Language Models

Recent open-vocabulary detectors achieve promising performance with abundant region-level annotated data. In this work, we show that an open-vocabulary detector co-training with a large language model by generating image-level detailed captions for each image can further improve performance. To achieve the goal, we first collect a dataset, GroundingCap-1M, wherein each image is accompanied by associated grounding labels and an image-level detailed caption. With this dataset, we finetune an open-vocabulary detector with training objectives including a standard grounding loss and a caption generation loss. We take advantage of a large language model to generate both region-level short captions for each region of interest and image-level long captions for the whole image. Under the supervision of the large language model, the resulting detector, LLMDet, outperforms the baseline by a clear margin, enjoying superior open-vocabulary ability. Further, we show that the improved LLMDet can in turn build a stronger large multi-modal model, achieving mutual benefits. Glycyrrhizin(GL)and Glycyrrhetic Acid 3-O-mono-β-D-glucuronide(GAMG)are the typical triterpenoid glycosides found in the root of licorice,a popular medicinal plant that exhibits diverse physiological effects and pharmacological ***,only few reports are available on the glycosylation enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of these valuable compounds with low conversion yield so *** mammals,glycosyltransferases are involved in the phase II metabolism and may provide new solutions for us to engineer microbial strains to produce high valued compounds due to the substrate promiscuity of these *** this study,we mined the genomic databases of mammals and evaluated 22 candidate genes of O-glycosyltransferases by analyzing their catalytic potential for O-glycosylation of the native substrate,glycyrrhetinic acid(GA)for its *** of 22 selected glycosyltransferases,only UGT1A1 exhibited high catalytic performance for biosynthesis of the key licorice compounds GL and *** docking results proposed that the enzymatic activity of UGT1A1 was likely owing to the stable hydrogen bonding interactions and favorite conformations between the amino acid residues around substrate channels(P82~R85)and ***,the complete biosynthesis pathway of GL was reconstructed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae for the first time,resulting in the production of 5.98±0.47 mg/L and 2.31±0.21 mg/L of GL and GAMG,respectively.

Wide-angle Surface Wave Reduction Based on Spatial Kramers-Kronig Media

Electromagnetic (EM) surface waves are typically undesired due to their adverse effects, such as inducing interferences or leakages in EM compatibility, and causing backward radiations in patch antennas. Thus, it is imperative to develop an efficient method to suppress these undesired surface waves. Here, we propose a wide-angle surface wave absorber based on spatial Kramers-Kronig media. The specific spatial permittivity profile ensures that surface waves impinging on the interface are nearly fully absorbed within a wide incident angle range. To demonstrate this concept, we design a thin spatial Kramers-Kronig medium absorber comprised of gradient mesoscopic structures, which is integrated into a circularly polarized patch antenna. This integration results in a reduced-surface-wave circularly polarized antenna, exhibiting a significantly improved front-to-back ratio (by suppressing forward surface waves) and 3 dB axial ratio beam-width (by suppressing reflected backward surface waves). Experimental measurements of the fabricated prototype align with simulated results. Our approach is robust and scalable to higher frequencies, offering a simple and non-destructive method in EM compatibility to eliminate surface-wave-induced mutual coupling between multiple devices without compromising their inherent performances. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

MalScan: Android Malware Detection Based on Social-Network Centrality Analysis

Malware scanning of an app market is expected to be scalable and effective. However, existing approaches use syntax-based features that can be evaded by transformation attacks or semantic-based features which are usually extracted by expensive program analysis. Therefore, to address the scalability challenges of traditional heavyweight static analysis, we propose a graph-based lightweight approach MalScan for Android malware detection. MalScan considers the function call graph as a complex social network and employs centrality analysis on sensitive application program interfaces (APIs) to express the semantic characteristics of the graph. On this basis, machine learning algorithms and ensemble learning algorithms are applied to classify the extracted features. We evaluate MalScan on datasets of 104,892 benign apps and 108,640 malwares, and the results of experiments indicate that MalScan outperforms six state-of-the-art detectors and can quickly detect Android malware with an f-value as high as 99%. In addition, there are also significant improvements in the robustness of Android app evolution and robustness to obfuscation. Finally, we conduct an exhaustive statistical study of over one million applications in the Google-Play app market and successfully identify 498 zero-day malware, which further validates the feasibility of MalScan on market-wide malware scanning. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Modeling of Heat Transfer in Target Material During the Electron Beam Evaporation Process

Numerical simulations provide a new method to study the heat and mass transfer behavior during the electron beam evaporation (EBE) process, which can obtain some physical quantities that cannot be accurately measured in experiments. In this study, a mathematical model is established to investigate the evaporation behavior, the variation of temperature field and flow field of target material during the EBE process, and verified through experiments. The results show that the evaporation rate of target material is extremely non-uniform on the molten pool surface, which the calculation error of the evaporation rate was 3.47%. The solid-liquid interface obtained by numerical simulation is basically consistent with the experiment, which the calculation error of the molten pool depth was 2.86% and the calculation error of the molten pool width was 3.03%. In addition, the surface temperature and flow rate of the molten pool increased with the increase of the electron beam power, the depth and the width of the molten pool increased linearly with the increase of the electron beam power and then level off. The model can accurately describe the changes of temperature field and flow field during the EBE process, and then make reliable predictions based on the simulation results. © 2023, The Authors.
