Time series foundation models have demonstrated strong performance in zero-shot learning, making them well-suited for predicting rapidly evolving patterns in real-world applications where relevant training data are scarce. However, most of these models rely on the Transformer architecture, which incurs quadratic complexity as input length increases. To address this, we introduce TSMamba, a linear-complexity foundation model for time series forecasting built on the Mamba architecture. The model captures temporal dependencies through both forward and backward Mamba encoders, achieving high prediction accuracy. To reduce reliance on large datasets and lower training costs, TSMamba employs a two-stage transfer learning process that leverages pretrained Mamba LLMs, allowing effective time series modeling with a moderate training set. In the first stage, the forward and backward backbones are optimized via patch-wise autoregressive prediction;in the second stage, the model trains a prediction head and refines other components for long-term forecasting. While the backbone assumes channel independence to manage varying channel numbers across datasets, a channel-wise compressed attention module is introduced to capture cross-channel dependencies during fine-tuning on specific multivariate datasets. Experiments show that TSMamba’s zero-shot performance is comparable to state-of-the-art time series foundation models, despite using significantly less training data. No-reference quality assessment for 360-degree images by analysis of multi-frequency information and local-global naturalness

360-degree/omnidirectional images (OIs) have achieved remarkable attentions due to the increasing applications of virtual reality (VR). Compared to conventional 2D images, OIs can provide more immersive experience to consumers, benefitting from the higher resolution and plentiful field of views (FoVs). Moreover, observing OIs is usually in the head mounted display (HMD) without references. Therefore, an efficient blind quality assessment method, which is specifically designed for 360-degree images, is urgently desired. In this paper, motivated by the characteristics of the human visual system (HVS) and the viewing process of VR visual contents, we propose a novel and effective no-reference omnidirectional image quality assessment (NR OIQA) algorithm by Multi-Frequency information and Local-Global Naturalness (MFILGN). Specifically, inspired by the frequency-dependent property of visual cortex, we first decompose the projected equirectangular projection (ERP) maps into wavelet subbands by using discrete Haar wavelet transform (DHWT). Then, the entropy intensities of low-frequency and high-frequency subbands are exploited to measure the multi-frequency information of OIs. Besides, except for considering the global naturalness of ERP maps, owing to the browsed FoVs, we extract the natural scene statistics (NSS) features from each viewport image as the measure of local naturalness. With the proposed multi-frequency information measurement and local-global naturalness measurement, we utilize support vector regression (SVR) as the final image quality regressor to train the quality evaluation model from visual quality-related features to human ratings. To our knowledge, the proposed model is the first no-reference quality assessment method for 360-degreee images that combines multi-frequency information and image naturalness. The emerging time-sensitive applications, such as industrial automation, smart grids, and telesurgery, pose strong demands for enabling large-scale IP-based deterministic networks. The IETF DetNet working group recently proposes a Cycle Specified Queuing and Forwarding (CSQF) solution. However, CSQF only specifies an underlying device-level primitive while how to achieve network-wide flow scheduling remains undefined. Previous scheduling mechanisms are mostly oriented to the context of local area networks, making them inapplicable to the cyclic traffic in wide area networks. In this paper, we design the Cycle Tags Planning (CTP) mechanism, a first mathematical model to enable network-wide scheduling for cyclic traffic in large-scale deterministic networks. Then, a novel scheduling algorithm named flow offset and cycle shift (FO-CS) is designed to compute the flows' cycle tags. The FO-CS algorithm is evaluated under long-distance network topologies in remote industrial control scenarios. Compared with the Naive algorithm without using FO-CS, simulation results demonstrate that FO-CS improves the scheduling flow number by 31.2% in few seconds.

We reported a class of electronic interfaces based on oriented crystallization silk towards chronical biopotential recording. Tunable molecular orientation crystallization of silk membrane was achieved with a pre-stretching treatment, which enabled the aqueous stability of silkbased electronic interfaces with superior biocompatibility and electronic shielding properties. Through the chemicalreagent-free process of the shadow mask and waterlithography, the orientation crystallization silk-based electronic interface has been demonstrated for long-term acquisition of electromyographic signal in living mice for more than 3 days, and acutely recording of ECoG signal of epilepsy models. Our approach provides opportunities for natural silk protein with long-term working stability in bioelectronics and bio-interfaces.

We report on the terahertz emission from a [Pt/Co]3/MnIr multilayers with magnetic perpendicular anisotropy. The origin of THz emission is attributed to the charge flows jc in the non-magnetic (NM) layers Pt and the antiferromagnetic (AFM) layer MnIr. The spin current js launched by the femtosecond pulses in the ferromagnetic (FM) layer Co is converted into the jc via the Inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE). Three series samples with Co, Pt, and MnIr layer thickness gradient exhibited layer-thickness dependence of the THz emission intensities. As the thickness of Pt and MnIr layer increases, the THz intensity decreases exponentially, which results from the decrease of the spin transport efficiency and the increased absorption of THz emission in the sample. When the Co layer thickness increases from 0.4nm to 0.8nm, the THz intensity increases exponentially. We attribute the enhancement to the increased spin-current value in the Co layer. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we propose a three-finger soft robotic gripper, which adopts an untethered and under-actuated design with simple structure and easy operation. The rotation of two servomotors is used to control the positions of the fingers, which provides the fingers with adjustable grasping modes and improves the adaptation of the gripper to objects with different shapes. A pressure sensor is integrated at the end of the finger to provide force feedback, which is used to detect the contact force when grasping the object and enables the gripper to provide the proper grasping force. The experimental section characterizes the bending of the soft robotic finger, and the gripper is integrated at the end of a collaborative robotic arm to demonstrate its adjustable grasping posture and force feedback function. The soft robotic gripper is expected to be used in a variety of scenarios, such as service robot, food industry or garbage sorting. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in fault tolerance methods for cloud computing. Maintaining high availability and reliability of cloud environments requires fault tolerance. This paper explores fault tolerance in the context of cloud computing and discusses recent challenges and innovations in the field. Moreover, it examines the ongoing research efforts to improve fault-tolerance architectures. At the end of the paper, the paper presents system-level metrics that are relevant to fault tolerance.

Edit Temporal-Consistent Videos with Image Diffusion Model

Large-scale text-to-image (T2I) diffusion models have been extended for text-guided video editing, yielding impressive zero-shot video editing performance. Nonetheless, the generated videos usually show spatial irregularities and temporal inconsistencies as the temporal characteristics of videos have not been faithfully modeled. In this paper, we propose an elegant yet effective Temporal-Consistent Video Editing (TCVE) method to mitigate the temporal inconsistency challenge for robust text-guided video editing. In addition to the utilization of a pretrained T2I 2D Unet for spatial content manipulation, we establish a dedicated temporal Unet architecture to faithfully capture the temporal coherence of the input video sequences. Furthermore, to establish coherence and interrelation between the spatial-focused and temporal-focused components, a cohesive spatial-temporal modeling unit is formulated. This unit effectively interconnects the temporal Unet with the pretrained 2D Unet, thereby enhancing the temporal consistency of the generated videos while preserving the capacity for video content manipulation. Quantitative experimental results and visualization results demonstrate that TCVE achieves state-of-the-art performance in both video temporal consistency and video editing capability, surpassing existing benchmarks in the field. © 2023, CC BY.

Extremely large-scale multiple-input-multiple-output (XL-MIMO), which offers vast spatial degrees of freedom, has emerged as a potentially pivotal enabling technology for the sixth generation (6G) of wireless mobile networks. With its growing significance, both opportunities and challenges are concurrently manifesting. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of research on XL-MIMO wireless systems. In particular, we introduce four XL-MIMO hardware architectures: uniform linear array (ULA)-based XL-MIMO, uniform planar array (UPA)-based XL-MIMO utilizing either patch antennas or point antennas, and continuous aperture (CAP)-based XL-MIMO. We comprehensively analyze and discuss their characteristics and interrelationships. Following this, we introduce several electromagnetic characteristics and general distance boundaries in XL-MIMO. Given the distinct electromagnetic properties of near-field communications, we present a range of channel models to demonstrate the benefits of XL-MIMO. We further discuss and summarize signal processing schemes for XL-MIMO. It is worth noting that the low-complexity signal processing schemes and deep learning empowered signal processing schemes are reviewed and highlighted to promote the practical implementation of XL-MIMO. Furthermore, we explore the interplay between XL-MIMO and other emergent 6G technologies. Finally, we outline several compelling research directions for future XL-MIMO wireless communication systems. To address communication latency issues, the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has defined Cellular-Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) technology, which includes Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication for direct vehicle-to-vehicle communication. However, this method requires vehicles to autonomously select communication resources based on the Semi-Persistent Scheduling (SPS) protocol, which may lead to collisions due to different vehicles sharing the same communication resources, thereby affecting communication effectiveness. Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) is considered a potential solution for handling large-scale vehicle communication, as it can enhance the Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) by employing Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC), thereby reducing the negative impact of communication collisions. When evaluating vehicle communication performance, traditional metrics such as reliability and transmission delay present certain contradictions. Introducing the new metric Age of information (AoI) provides a more comprehensive evaluation of communication system. Additionally, to ensure service quality, user terminals need to possess high computational capabilities, which may lead to increased energy consumption, necessitating a trade-off between communication energy consumption and effectiveness. Given the complexity and dynamics of communication systems, Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) serves as an intelligent learning method capable of learning optimal strategies in dynamic environments. Therefore, this paper analyzes the effects of multi-priority queues and NOMA on AoI in the C-V2X vehicular communication system and proposes an energy consumption and AoI optimization method based on DRL. Finally, through comparative simulations with baseline methods, the proposed approach demonstrates its advances in terms of energy consumption and AoI. © 2017 IEEE.
