Massive open online courses (MOOCs), which offer open access and widespread interactive participation through the internet, are quickly becoming the preferred method for online and remote learning. Several MOOC platforms offer the service of course recommendation to users, to improve the learning experience of users. Despite the usefulness of this service, we consider that recommending courses to users directly may neglect their varying degrees of expertise. Bitter gourd (Momordica charantia L.) belongs to family Cucurbitaceae, and is a popular vegetable crop in the tropical and sub-tropical countries. It is an annually grown herbaceous vine that requires warm climate for growth. The leaves, stem and roots of bitter gourd contains a lot of bio-active components having nutritional and medicinal importance. Alternaria leaf blight (Alternaria cucumerina Ellis & Everh.) is a fungus which causes leaf blight on bitter gourd and leads to significant crop damage. The present study investigated the efficacy of five different fungicides against Alternaria leaf blight (ALB) of bitter gourd under in vivo and in vitro conditions. The single hyphal tip method was used to isolate and purify the fungal pathogen from the ALB infected leaves of bitter gourd. Five commercially available fungicides (1. Melody duo 66.8% WP, 2. Polyram DF 70%, 3. Score 250 EC, 4. Tilt 250 EC, 5. Flumax 60% EC) were evaluated at concentrations of 50 ppm and 100 ppm for effective ALB diseased control. Among tested fungicides, maximum inhibition (90 %) of fungal growth was given by Melody duo @ 100 ppm concentration followed by Polyram (81 %), Score (77 %) and Tilt (70 %), whereas Flumax resulted in minimum (45 %) fungal inhibition under in vivo. Melody duo revealed minimum disease incidence (15.67 %) compared to disease incidence recorded in polyram (17.83 %), Score (20.50 %) and Tilt (22.33 %) treated crop. Flumax was not tested in vitro because it gave minimum disease control in in vitro experiments. The control plants showed high disease incidence (56%). © 2021 The Authors

The era of the Internet of Things (IoT) has commenced, captivating us with the extensive application of futuristic technologies in the realm of smart farming. Various methods for enhancing agricultural tasks are actively under development to meet the burgeoning demand for food production. The maintenance and monitoring of farms have advanced significantly, the adoption of IoT-based alternatives to traditional human-driven tasks is rapidly getting more importance. Io T integrates a diverse range of technologies to elevate production and management within the agricultural sector. This survey delves into numerous advantages and challenges associated to integrating IoT technology in agricultural process. We present a collection of applications, an IoT architecture elucidating all its components, and a roster of protocols that enhance network performance. Furthermore, we discuss future prospective directions, placing emphasis on 5G, robotics, UAVs, and Big Data.

Polarization multiplexed dissipative Kerr solitons in on-chip micro-resonator

We demonstrate polarization multiplexed dissipative Kerr solitons in an on-chip silicon nitride micro-resonator. In our experiment, TE- and TM-polarized soliton can be individually generated and controlled, thanks to their weak mutual interaction as the result of sufficiently different repetition rates and orthogonal polarization states. Furthermore, we find that TE- and TM-polarized solitons usually exhibit uncorrelated time jitters, therefore the frequency and phase coherence between the polarization multiplexed soliton microcombs change dramatically as a function of pump laser parameters, by optimizing which we achieve narrow dual-microcomb beat note linewidth as small as 4.4 kHz. Potential applications of on-chip polarization multiplexed soliton microcombs include Kerr comb spectral expansion, dual-comb metrology, and measurement of quantum entanglements. Latent Semantic Consensus For Deterministic Geometric Model Fitting

Estimating reliable geometric model parameters from the data with severe outliers is a fundamental and important task in computer vision. This paper attempts to sample high-quality subsets and select model instances to estimate parameters in the multi-structural data. To address this, we propose an effective method called Latent Semantic Consensus (LSC). The principle of LSC is to preserve the latent semantic consensus in both data points and model hypotheses. Specifically, LSC formulates the model fitting problem into two latent semantic spaces based on data points and model hypotheses, respectively. Then, LSC explores the distributions of points in the two latent semantic spaces, to remove outliers, generate high-quality model hypotheses, and effectively estimate model instances. Finally, LSC is able to provide consistent and reliable solutions within only a few milliseconds for general multi-structural model fitting, due to its deterministic fitting nature and efficiency. Compared with several state-of-the-art model fitting methods, our LSC achieves significant superiority for the performance of both accuracy and speed on synthetic data and real images. Modern electronic equipment has been moving towards large scale and increased complexity. Affected by such factors as complex working environments, the performance of a large number of structures in engineering is degraded or even destroyed. Therefore, structure shape estimation is of great significance. The complexity of the structure, however, makes it impossible for a single deformation evaluation algorithm to evaluate the structure comprehensively and accurately. In this paper, a modal-approximate curve (M-AC) method, using a small amount of strain data, is proposed for block shape estimation of structures. Three typical wind load experiments are carried out on the finite element model (FEM) of the vehicle-borne active phased array antenna, and the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified. Under the wind speed of 28 (m/s), the deformation of antenna front is 104.70 mm and the estimation accuracy of the M-AC method is 87.43%, which is 16.47% higher than that of the modal approach. The results indicate that the estimated displacement is consistent well with the simulation results of the finite element method. © 2021 IEEE.
