Superconducting nanowire single-photon detection system and demonstration in quantum key distribution

We developed a superconducting nanowire single-photon detection(SNSPD) system based on Gifford-McMahon cryocooler for quantum communication *** factors which may influence the system performance are intensively *** factors include temperature fluctuations,the ambient magnetic field and the background *** optimizing the bias circuit,the stability of SNSPD system to electrical noise and disturbance was effectively enhanced,thus making it more suitable for field application.A 4-channel SNSPD system with quantum efficiency higher than 4% at the dark count rate of 10 Hz for λ=1550 nm is integrated and applied into a quantum key distribution(QKD) *** was successfully carried out over 100 km optical fiber with the final secure key rate of 1.6 kbps and the quantum bit error rate of less than 2%.

Superconductivity induced by U doping in the SmFeAsO system

Through partial substitution of Sm by U in SmFeAsO, a different member of the family of iron-based superconductors was successfully synthesized. X-ray diffraction measurements show that the lattice constants along the a and c axes are both squeezed through U doping, indicating a successful substitution of U at the Sm site. The parent compound shows a strong resistivity anomaly near 150 K, associated with spin-density-wave instability. U doping suppresses this instability and leads to a transition to the superconducting state at temperatures up to 49 K. Magnetic measurements confirm the bulk superconductivity in this system. For the sample with a doping level of x=0.2, the external magnetic field suppresses the onset temperature very slowly, indicating a rather high upper critical field. In addition, the Hall effect measurements show that U clearly dopes electrons into the material.

Transition-metal-doped Bi2Se3 crystals, X0.05Bi2Se3 (X=Cr, Co, Ni, and Cu), are prepared and studied by powder x-ray diffraction and extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements to get the local structures around the dopants. Cr atoms substitute Bi atoms and Co atoms may substitute Bi atoms or form Co3Se4 (C2/m) clusters. Cu is also found taking the Bi substitutional site, which differs from the reported superconductor phase of Cu-doped Bi2Se3, suggesting the dependence of site occupancy of Cu in Bi2Se3 on the process of sample growing. For Ni0.05Bi2Se3, Ni atoms form Ni3Se4 (C2/m) clusters. The nearest neighbors of X (X=Cr, Co, and Cu) are Se atoms, and the X-Se bond lengths are extracted from EXAFS as 2.50 Å for Cr-Se, 2.40 Å for Co-Se, and 2.38 Å for Cu-Se, which show the direct evidences of dramatic structural relaxations around 3d dopants. The bond information of local structures around dopants is valuable for subsequent theoretical studies, and can hardly be obtained from other techniques.

Nowadays, fast and accurate detection of glucose has been increasingly important in clinical analyses and environmental monitoring. Gold nanowires, owing to the excellent conductivity, catalysis ability and biocompatibility, have been used widely for the construction of high-performance biosensors. Furthermore, graphene, as a new star of nanomaterials, has also attracted ever increasing attention in recent years due to its unique electrical, chemical and mechanical properties. In this paper, we constructed a novel glucose biosensor based on graphene nanosheets (GNs) modified gold nanowire arrays (AuNWAs) electrode. Highly ordered gold nanowire arrays were prepared by direct electrodeposition in anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates. GNs were synthesized with a public route involving graphite oxidation, exfoliation and chemical reduction. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were employed to characterize the as-prepared AuNWAs and GNs. Glucose oxidase was immobilized on the surface of GNs-AuNWAs modified electrode via physical adsorption. The cyclic voltammetry results showed that the GNs-AuNWAs-based glucose biosensors had higher catalysis activity to hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) than those modified with GNs or AuNWAs only. Furthermore, amperometric response was employed to detect glucose concentration owing to its simplicity, high selectivity and relatively low cost. Glucose biosensors based on GNs-AuNWAs showed excellent performance with high sensitivity of 23.34 A·cm -2 ·mM -1 , low detection limit of 3.7 M and a wide linear range from 0.01 mM to 4 mM. Besides, the anti-interference investigation indicated that the performance of as-prepared biosensors was almost unaffected by common interference like uric acid (UA) and ascorbic acid (AA).

Freestanding FeCrAl-Y2O3 amorphous/crystalline composite coating with a thickness of about 200μm has been produced from electron-beam physical vapor deposition of FeCrAl and yttria materials with a substrate temperature of 500 ℃ around. The microstructure was composed of columnar grains near the substrate side and an amorphous top layer. Local crystallization occurred during room temperature preservation. It is inferred that the crystallization activation energy of the material is very low.

Mechanical Property of FeCrAl-Y2O3 Foil Fabricated by EBPVD

As a rapid deposition method, Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition(EBPVD) permits the fast fabrication of self-standing thick coatings with thickness in the range from several micrometers to hundreds of micrometers. In this paper, we present a new way to fabricate ferritic ODS alloy foil. By this method, 1.2 wt.% of yttria was successfully added to the ferritic base material. The base alloys are mainly composed of bcc structured Fe(Cr,Al) solid solution. The steady state creep rate of ferritic ODS is almost two magnitudes lower than that of FeCrAl alloy. Further thermo-mechanical treatment is expected to improve strength and ductility of both ODS and non-ODS material.

The boron-containing phenol-formaldehyde resin-based ceramifying composites that used muscovite mica and glass frits loaded boron-containing phenol-formaldehyde resin（BPF） as matrix,high silica fiberglass fabric as reinforcements,were pyrolyzed into ceramic gradually in the *** frits were fused into liquid phase and spread to the surface to make muscovite mica form compact mullite ceramic *** shell restrained oxygen into the internal effectively in order to reduce the thermo-oxidative degradation of BPF resin.X-ray diffraction analysis（XRD） showed that aluminium borate(AlBO) and mullite(AlSiO) crystalline phases after *** demonstrated the ceramifying progress of the microstructure of the composites,and EDS analyzed the micro-chemical composition.

The effect of Mo on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Nb–Ti–C–B multiphase alloy was investigated. The alloy without Mo contains the primary Nb solid solution (Nbss) dendrites and interdendritic eutectic network containing Nbss, (Nb,Ti)C and (Nb,Ti)B. In Mo-added alloys, the solubility of Mo is found in Nbss and (Nb,Ti)B. Mo addition refines the primary Nbss dendrites and promotes the coarsening of boride phase, but does not obviously change the volume fraction of primary Nbss and total secondary particles. The hardness, compression properties and fracture toughness were evaluated to determine the strengthening and toughening effect of Mo-added alloys at room temperature. The results indicate that the hardness and compressive yield strength increase with increasing Mo content, but Mo addition decreases the room temperature fracture toughness.

Circulation fluidized bed combustion(CFBC)fly ash and Portland cement clinker were used as cementitious materials for developing foam *** is a dominant that how the thickening rate of slurry fit in with the stable time of foam,so some aluminate cement and quicklime were added into the *** effect of some manufacturing parameters, such as the dosage of aluminate cement,quicklime,and CFBC fly ash(CFA),the ratio of water to solid material(w/s),on the strength and bulk density of foamed concrete was investigated as well as the properties of the foamed concrete with *** results indicate that the setting and hardening of slurry was accelerated with either quicklime or aluminate *** strength of the foamed concrete increased at first and then decreased with the increase of quicklime content,but decreased with aluminate cement in all used *** improve the strength of the foamed concrete,the addition content of CFA should not be higher than 70%and w/s should be reduced as far as *** foamed concrete with compressive strength achieving 5.08 MPa and the bulk density of 538 kg/mi were prepared by means of adding 2%aluminate cement,8%quick quicklime, w/s is 0.3,and curing in the circumstance of 60 V for 24k The properties including thermal conductivity,shrinkage andfreeze-thaw cycles of the foamed concrete with CFA were tested Originality CFA is the discharged wastes which come from fluidized bed combustion *** has properties of pozzolanic activity and self-hardening,which can self-harden without any *** it can be inferred that higher pozzolanic activity might be obtained than traditional fly ash,however,the application of CFA is not as well as traditional fly ash because of its irregular particles,higher water demand and *** CFA to prepare foam concrete is a new way to recycle *** concrete can accommodate the expansion of CFA because of its porous structure,meanwhile,the shrinkage of foam concrete could be re
