Based on the coupling scattering mechanism between the ship and sea surface, a scattering signature modeling method of sea-surface target for bi-static imaging radar is proposed, considering the modulation effects of sea-surface forcing to ship targets. The bi-static scattering signature signal for sea-surface target is modeled, in conjunction with high frequency asymptotic techniques for electromagnetic (EM) scattering calculation, the multi-path EM scattering model, the time-evolving complex reflection coefficient model and the ship motion dynamics. The time-varying scattering signatures for a typical ship on time-evolving sea-surface are simulated and analyzed. © 2019 IEEE.

Characteristics of the pollutant emissions in a tunnel of Shanghai on a weekday

Tunnel displays a typical semi-closed environment, and multitudes of the pollutants tend to accumulate. The samples of gaseous pollutants and particulate matter （PM） were collected from the Xiangyin tunnel at Shanghai to investigate the characteristics of the pollutant emissions. The results indicated that both gaseous pollutants and PM exhibited much higher concentrations during the rush hours in the morning and at night due to vehicle emission. Two peaks of the PM concentration were observed in the scope of 0.7-1.1 and 3.3-4.7 μm, accounting for 14.6% and 20.3% of the total concentrations, respectively. Organic matter （OM）, EC, and many water-soluble ions were markedly higher at the rush hours in the morning than those at night, implicating comprehensive effects of vehicle types and traffic volume. The particle number concentrations exhibited two peaks at Aitken mode （25 nm and 100 rim） and accumulation mode （600 nm）, while the particle volume concentration displayed high values at the accumulation mode （100-500 nm） and coarse mode （2.5-4.0 μm）. The peak around 100 nm was detected in the morning rush hours, but it diminished with the decrease of the traffic volume. Individual-particle analysis revealed that main particles in the tunnel were Fe-rich particles, K-rich particles, mineral particles, Ca-S rich particles and A1-Si particles. The particles collected at the rush hours displayed marked different morphologies, element concentrations and particle sizes compared to the ones collected at the non-rush period. The data presented herein could shed a light on the feature of vehicle emissions.

Promptable segmentation foundation models have emerged as a transformative approach to addressing the diverse needs in medical images, but most existing models require expensive computing, posing a big barrier to their adoption in clinical practice. In this work, we organized the first international competition dedicated to promptable medical image segmentation, featuring a large-scale dataset spanning nine common imaging modalities from over 20 different institutions. The top teams developed lightweight segmentation foundation models and implemented an efficient inference pipeline that substantially reduced computational requirements while maintaining state-of-the-art segmentation accuracy. Moreover, the post-challenge phase advanced the algorithms through the design of performance booster and reproducibility tasks, resulting in improved algorithms and validated reproducibility of the winning solution. Furthermore, the best-performing algorithms have been incorporated into the open-source software with a user-friendly interface to facilitate clinical adoption. The data and code are publicly available to foster the further development of medical image segmentation foundation models and pave the way for impactful real-world applications. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

One key focus of cloud storage is keyword search on encrypted data. In a cloud-based secure data sharing system, users need to search keywords on encrypted data in order to data confidentiality and query privacy. Moreover, a large number of trapdoors should be generated by users with his/her keys and submitted to the cloud. Some researches on searchable encryption with key-aggregate have been conducted in recent years, which shortened the number of keys and trapdoors to a constant. However, the computational overhead and communication costs are largely neglected in the literature. In this paper, we propose an efficient key-aggregate keyword searchable encryption (eKAKSE) scheme. Generally, this scheme does not need to generate substantial parameters when the system is established. It dramatically reduces the computational overhead in the case of resisting the eavesdropping problem. We formulate the security definitions for eKAKSE and prove its security. The simulation results show that the computational overhead of the proposed scheme is more efficient than that of other schemes.

Graphene with honeycomb structure, being critically important in understanding physics of matter, exhibits exceptionally unusual half-integer quantum Hall effect and unconventional electronic spectrum with quantum relativistic phenomena. Particularly, graphene-like structure can be used for realizing topological insulator which inspires an intrinsic topological protection mechanism with strong immunity for maintaining coherence of quantum information. These various peculiar physics arise from the unique properties of Dirac cones which show high hole degeneracy, massless charge carriers and linear intersection of bands. Experimental observation of Dirac cones conventionally focuses on the energy-momentum space with bulk measurement. Recently, the wave function and band structure have been mapped into the real-space in photonic system, and made flexible control possible. Here, we demonstrate a direct observation of the movement of Dirac cones from single-photon dynamics in photonic graphene under different biaxial strains. Sharing the same spirit of wave-particle nature in quantum mechanics, we identify the movement of Dirac cones by dynamically detecting the edge modes and extracting the diffusing distance of the packets with accumulation and statistics on individual single-particle registrations. Our results of observing movement of Dirac cones from single-photon dynamics, together with the method of direct observation in real space by mapping the band structure defined in momentum space, pave the way to understand a variety of artificial structures in quantum regime. Bitcoin is the most popular decentralized digital currency now in use. Block chain is the basic technology of Bitcoin, providing a trustable ledger that can be publicly verified. Research on distributed applications based on block chain has become a new trend. We propose an electronic voting scheme based on block chain and prime numbers, which can support voting situations for multiple candidates. We design protocols for the Bitcoin voting situation, in which there are n voters and k candidates. Each voter will vote for one candidate. The proposed protocols could guarantee that the candidate who gets the majority voting wins the game and no individual voting information is disclosed. Due to the nature of the block chain, the voting results could not be tampered. It is transparent since the block chain is open to the public for verification. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

Single sign-on (SSO) becomes popular as the identity management and authentication infrastructure in the Internet. A user receives an SSO ticket after being authenticated by the identity provider (IdP), and this IdP-issued ticket enables him to sign onto the relying party (RP). However, there are vulnerabilities (e.g., Golden SAML) that allow attackers to arbitrarily issue SSO tickets and then sign onto any RP on behalf of any user. Meanwhile, several incidents of certification authorities (CAs) also indicate that the trusted third party of security services is not so trustworthy as expected, and fraudulent TLS server certificates are signed by compromised or deceived CAs to launch TLS man-in-the-middle attacks. Various approaches are then proposed to tame the absolute authority of (compromised) CAs, to detect or prevent fraudulent TLS server certificates in the TLS handshakes. The trust model of SSO services is similar to that of certificate services. So this paper investigates the defense strategies of these trust-enhancements of certificate services, and attempts to apply these strategies to SSO to derive the trust-enhancements applicable in the SSO services. Our analysis derives (a) some security designs which have been commonly-used in the SSO services or non-SSO authentication services, and (b) two schemes effectively improving the trustworthiness of SSO services, which are not widely discussed or adopted.

With the rapid development of computation and communication technologies, the traditional vehicle ad hoc networks (VANETs) are changing to Internet of vehicle (IoV). Vehicular announcement networks in IoV have been widely used in the communication of vehicles. Generally, we need to solve two problems while establishing a vehicular announcement system. First, we need to protect user's privacy when broadcasting the message. Second, participants usually lack the enthusiasm to reply to the announcement. To solve these two problems, we propose a novel blockchain-based incentive announcement system that not only allows participants to anonymously announce their message on the blockchain in a non-trusted environment, but also motivates witnesses to respond to the request of the traffic information with incentive mechanism. Meanwhile, traffic messages and signatures in our system are tamper-resistant, which are recorded on the blockchain. According to the security and performance analysis, it shows that our system is privacy-preserving and efficient in computation cost.
