Combining half-duplex (HD) and full-duplex (FD) is promising in improving the information transmission rate of relay channels. This work proposes a novel two-phase hybrid duplex scheme for Gaussian relay channel where the relay operates in FD mode for a fraction of time and only transmits information for the rest of time. The achievable rate of the proposed hybrid duplex scheme is characterized in detail. Based on the obtained result, a joint time division and power allocation problem is formulated to maximize the achievable rate. In particular, the formulated problem is solved through a two-step optimization method. Firstly, the optimal relay power allocation is obtained for given time division factors. Then, the achievable rate maximization problem is addressed by finding the optimal time division factors. The closed-form expression for the maximal achievable rate is derived for some specific cases. Numerical results show that the proposed two-phase hybrid duplex scheme significantly improves the achievable rate of Gaussian relay channel compared with existing benchmark schemes.

As the deadliest form of pollution, air pollution had a prolonged severe damage to the human health and life safety of nearly 99% of the world's population. Facing to the problem that billions of tons of pollutants discharged into the air per year by industrial activities, this paper proposed a novel image-based air pollution monitor (IAPM) by incorporating local and global information in the self-adaptive multiscale transform domain, so as to achieve the timely and effective leakage detection of typical air pollutants from a single image. To be specific, this paper first developed a screen-shaped module according to two significant findings in visual neuroscience, which include the high sensitivity of human eyes to horizontal and vertical stimuli and the center-surround inhibition, by designing and fusing the square module, horizontal strip module and vertical strip module parallelly for simulating the behaviour of human eyes to extract local features. Second, the learnable weights and proportional mapping were applied to incorporate the screen-shaped module and lightweight vision transformer as backbone, towards more richly exploiting and fusing local and global information just as the way a brain perceives external stimuli. Third, a new self-adaptive multiscale transform domain method was devised based on two motivations from the visual characteristics of multiscale perception and the brain characteristics of self-adaptive domain transform to modify the backbone by using the operations of pooling and pointwise convolution. Extensive experiments implemented on the datasets of carbon particulate matters and ethylene leakage confirmed the superior monitoring performance of the proposed IAPM model beyond the state-of-the-art (SOTA) peers by an accuracy gain of about 4%. Furthermore, the proposed IAPM model only required 0.089 GFLOPs and 0.15 million model parameters, remarkably outperforming SOTA competitors in computational efficiency and storage resources. © 1999-2

Anonymity is an inevitable and sensitive matter of concern, especially in the age where people are willing to use digital devices and Internet to deal with almost all things in their work and daily life. To support anonymity, modern cryptography is one of the most suitable choices in the algorithm level. Particularly, in the scenarios, such as e-voting, crypto-currency, and smart grid etc., a cryptographic primitive, called linkable ring signature, has shown its ability to handle anonymity problems. However, signature schemes will introduce additional costs to those e-commerce systems, so that they should be as efficient as possible. On the other side, a signature scheme that requires the public key infrastructure (PKI) brings much unnecessary inconvenience to its users, since typically, users of the aforementioned systems are not familiar with cryptographic skills and the system establishers are trusted by them in some sense. As a result, an identity-based (ID-based) signature scheme with small size fulfills the visible requirements of e-commerce systems. In this paper, we proposed an ID-based linkable ring signature scheme with logarithmic size from pairing and elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP), and gave all the security proofs in detail. Besides that, the scheme needs no trusted setup, except that the key generation center knows the secret key of each user and it is a property of ID-based cryptography in nature. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A novel CaLaNbWO8 (CLNWO) ceramic was prepared using traditional solid-state methods. The CLNWO ceramics that were sintered at 1440°C displayed noteworthy dielectric properties, with Εr = 11.18, Q×f = 32,998 GHz, and τf = −8.1 ppm/°C. The trends in Εr and Q×f were indirectly reflected through the Raman shift and FWHM in Raman spectroscopy. Through bond valence analysis, it was determined that Ca2+ and La3+ have significant compression effects in CLNWO ceramics, and the αc was less than αtheo. This discrepancy resulted in the Εr of CLNWO ceramics being less than Εtheo. According to Phillips-Vechten-Levine (P-V-L) theory, the W-O bond primarily determined τf, and Q×f, whereas Εr was noticeably influenced by the La-O bond. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the field of electronic countermeasures, it is extremely difficult to effectively identify communication behaviors of tactical radio station by analyzing communication protocols of the non-cooperative organization. Therefore, this work mainly explores the possibility of directly figuring out radio station communication behaviors from the perspective of the physical layer, conducts a theoretical analysis with the US military protocol standard as an example, and simulates the communication behaviors signals. Finally, combined with the autoencoder, experiment results show the feasibility of grasping communication behaviors from the perspective of the physical layer.

The novel active simultaneously transmitting and reflecting surface (ASTARS) has recently received a lot of attention due to its capability to conquer the multiplicative fading loss and achieve full-space smart radio environments. This paper introduces the ASTARS to assist non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) communications, where the stochastic geometry theory is used to model the spatial positions of pairing users. We design the independent reflection/transmission phase-shift controllers of ASTARS to align the phases of cascaded channels at pairing users. We derive new closed-form and asymptotic expressions of the outage probability and ergodic data rate for ASTARS-NOMA networks in the presence of perfect/imperfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC). The diversity orders and multiplexing gains for ASTARS-NOMA are derived to provide more insights. Furthermore, the system throughputs of ASTARS-NOMA are investigated in both delay-tolerant and delay-limited transmission modes. The numerical results are presented and show that: 1) ASTARS-NOMA with pSIC outperforms ASTARS assisted-orthogonal multiple access (ASTARS-OMA) in terms of outage probability and ergodic data rate;2) The outage probability of ASTARS-NOMA can be further reduced within a certain range by increasing the power amplification factors;3) The system throughputs of ASTARS-NOMA are superior to that of ASTARS-OMA in both delay-limited and delay-tolerant transmission modes. Outage Performance of Relay-Assisted Mutualistic Backscatter communications Under Energy-Causality Constraint

Existing works on mutualistic backscatter communications (MBC) rely on the existence of direct links connecting both the primary user (PU) and the backscatter device (BD) to the destination node (D), rendering them ineffective when these links are blocked. While relay technology offers a solution, the performance of relay-assisted MBC and whether the backscatter link still benefits the primary link or not remain unclear. Additionally, the energy-harvesting capability of BD has been largely ignored in the study of MBC. This paper investigates a relay-assisted MBC network, where a decode-and-forward relay (R) forwards the messages of a PU and an energy constrained BD to D. We propose three forwarding schemes for R, i.e., orthogonal time-division multiple access (OMA), non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with static power allocation (PA), and NOMA with dynamic PA. Considering the energy-causality constraint of BD, we derive the outage probabilities and diversity gains of the primary and backscatter links for each forwarding scheme. Computer simulation verifies the correctness of our analytical results and reveals that different from conventional MBC, in the relay-assisted MBC, whether or not the backscatter link improves the primary link's outage performance depends on the specific forwarding scheme employed, as well as the location of R and the power reflection coefficient of BD. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Age of information Analysis for CR-NOMA Aided Uplink Systems with Randomly Arrived Packets

This paper studies the application of cognitive radio inspired non-orthogonal multiple access (CR-NOMA) to reduce age of information (AoI) for uplink transmission. In particular, a time division multiple access (TDMA) based legacy network is considered, where each user is allocated with a dedicated time slot to transmit its status update information. The CR-NOMA is implemented as an add-on to the TDMA legacy network, which enables each user to have more opportunities to transmit by sharing other user’s time slots. A rigorous analytical framework is developed to obtain the expressions for AoIs achieved by CR-NOMA with and without re-transmission, by taking the randomness of the status update generating process into consideration. Numerical results are presented to verify the accuracy of the developed analysis. It is shown that the AoI can be significantly reduced by applying CR-NOMA compared to TDMA. Moreover, the use of re-transmission is helpful to reduce AoI, especially when the status arrival rate is low. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
