Computer-aided design (CAD) significantly enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and innovation of design processes by enabling precise 2D and 3D modeling, extensive analysis, and optimization. Existing methods for creating CAD models rely on latent vectors or point clouds, which are difficult to obtain and costly to store. Recent advances in Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have inspired researchers to use natural language instructions and images for CAD model construction. However, these models still struggle with inferring accurate 3D spatial location and orientation, leading to inaccuracies in determining the spatial 3D starting points and extrusion directions for constructing geometries. This work introduces CAD-GPT, a CAD synthesis method with spatial reasoning-enhanced MLLM that takes either a single image or a textual description as input. To achieve precise spatial inference, our approach introduces a 3D Modeling Spatial Mechanism. This method maps 3D spatial positions and 3D sketch plane rotation angles into a 1D linguistic feature space using a specialized spatial unfolding mechanism, while discretizing 2D sketch coordinates into an appropriate planar space to enable precise determination of spatial starting position, sketch orientation, and 2D sketch coordinate translations. Extensive experiments demonstrate that CAD-GPT consistently outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods in CAD model synthesis, both quantitatively and qualitatively. This paper presents a dual mode passive radar with alternative localization mechanisms of time difference of arrival (TDOA)-direction of arrival (DOA) mode and multi-TDOA mode. For demonstration and validation, a high-performance testbed is needed with the characteristics of wide dynamic range, multichannel, time-frequency synchronization and flexible local oscillator mechanism. To realize these features, an Ettus X310 universal software radio peripheral (USRP) is utilized for integration in the passive radar hardware platform. Processing algorithms for the multi-channel signals acquired by the X310 is implemented in real-time with the graphics processing unit (GPU) embedded in a server computer. Outdoor detections of small unmanned aerial vehicle with the dual mode operation of the testbed show a meter-level accuracy.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) offer a promising solution for enhancing network coverage, reliability, and data speed in future wireless network generations. However, deploying UAVs as aerial base stations requires careful consideration of crucial design factors, including three-dimensional (3D) placement and performance optimization tailored to specific applications. In this paper, the 3D placement of multiple UAVs, acting as aerial base stations, is investigated in a dynamic user scenario. First, a closed-form expression for the coverage probability is derived. Then, to maximize the network coverage and sum rate while ensuring reliable and energy efficient system, a joint multi-objective optimization problem is formulated considering the real-time user movements. To solve the problem, an improved Chaos-based Bonobo Optimizer (CBO) scheme is proposed which combines chaotic maps with the Bonobo Optimizer (BO) algorithm. The obtained results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed approach compared with different benchmark algorithms. The results reveal that the proposed CBO algorithm offers a minimum of $\mathbf{1 5 \%}$ and $\mathbf{9 0} \mathbf{~ M b i t / s ~ i m p r o v e m e n t s ~}$ in coverage and sum rate, respectively.

Underwater acoustic (UWA) channel is a triple-selective fading channel in time, space and frequency as a result of its lower sound speed and its complicated boundaries in the ocean. It is very difficult to realize a successful classification of the communication signal modulation within a single feature in such harsh channel. The feature extraction is much more sensitive to the environmental parameters and signals. In this paper, an automatic modulation classification (AMC) system based on machine learning is established in order to improve the correction rate of AMC for the several common modulation types. In the case of extracting the feature, the machine learning algorithms, including Support Vector Machine (SVM), k-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Classification and Regression Tree (CART) are adopted. The performance comparison of these three algorithms is implemented through the simulation data analysis, which would denote how the UWA multipath channel, the signal noise ratio (SNR) affects the performance of the proposed system.

Morse communication is widely used in the field of land, water and air transportation and military communication, and especially plays a great role in military communication as a necessary means. Morse signals have noise interference inevitably in the process of HF channel transmission. Because of the noise has greatly harmed to human body, it increases the Labor intensity of copy personnel, especially for that long time engaged in HF Morse copy work. To solve the problem that receiving of Morse signals requires manual operation, this paper presents a solution to automatically detect Morse signals with a wideband receiver. The solution features equipment miniaturization, enables Morse signals to be received in full frequency and time domain and gets rid of manual work. It also allows real-time access to the situation of HF Morse signals.

Medical Body Area Networks (MBANs) increasingly utilize wireless communication technologies to enhance the freedom and convenience for patients and caregivers. Currently, radio frequency (RF) is the prevalent medium in healthcare applications; however, the potential for electromagnetic interference with precision medical equipment remains a concern. This study introduces a novel design and implementation of a medical healthcare information system using the newly developed Wireless Visible Light communication (VLC) technology, also known as Light Fidelity (Li-Fi). Visible Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), expected to soon surpass traditional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs as the primary light source due to their energy efficiency, facilitate this technology. In this research, patient health is monitored using sensors, with results displayed on an LCD. An LED lightbulb transmits the data as light signals, which are captured by a photo-detector at the receiver's end. This setup not only displays the output on an LCD but also alerts caregivers through an auditory signal, beeping every 15 seconds for respiration and every 30 seconds for heart rate monitoring. Moreover, these lighting fixtures serve dual functions: illumination and wireless data transmission, using the rapid switching capability of LEDs. This prototype VLC-based system offers a promising alternative for data services and monitoring in hospital areas where RF use is restricted.

Federated learning (FL) and split learning (SL) are prevailing distributed paradigms in recent years. They both enable shared global model training while keeping data localized on users' devices. The former excels in parallel execution capabilities, while the latter enjoys low dependence on edge computing resources and strong privacy protection. Split federated learning (SFL) combines the strengths of both FL and SL, making it one of the most popular distributed architectures. Furthermore, a recent study has claimed that SFL exhibits robustness against poisoning attacks, with a fivefold improvement compared to FL in terms of robustness. In this paper, we present a novel poisoning attack known as MISA. It poisons both the top and bottom models, causing a misalignment in the global model, ultimately leading to a drastic accuracy collapse. This attack unveils the vulnerabilities in SFL, challenging the conventional belief that SFL is robust against poisoning attacks. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed MISA poses a significant threat to the availability of SFL, underscoring the imperative for academia and industry to accord this matter due attention. Aiming at the problems of traditional beamforming algorithms that require a two-dimensional angle search for two-dimensional DOA estimation using rectangular arrays, which takes a long time, this paper provides a dimensionality reduction method through theoretical derivation and numerical calculation. This method uses coordinate conversion and secondary optimization, successively calculates the angle of the target relative to the X and Y axes, and combines the idea of least squares to finally calculate the azimuth and elevation angle of the target, turning the two-dimensional problem into a one-dimensional search, which greatly reduces the amount of calculation. The simulation results show that the angle estimation accuracy of this method is equivalent to that of the traditional MUSIC method, but its algorithm complexity and calculation time are reduced a lot, which is very suitable for engineering applications. © 2020 IEEE.

Future wireless networks are poised to transform into integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) networks, unlocking groundbreaking services such as digital twinning. To harness the full potential of ISAC networks, it is essential to experimentally validate their sensing capabilities and the role of sensing in boosting communication. However, current prototype systems fall short in supporting multiple sensing functions or validating sensing-assisted communication. In response, we have developed an advanced ISAC prototype system that incorporates monostatic, bistatic, and network sensing modes. This system supports multimodal data collection and synchronization, ensuring comprehensive experimental validation. On the communication front, it excels in sensing-aided beam tracking and real-time high-definition video transmission. For sensing applications, it provides precise angle and range measurements, real-time angle-range imaging, and radio-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). Our prototype aligns with the 5G New Radio standard, offering scalability for up to 16 user equipments (UEs) in uplink transmission and 10 UEs in downlink transmission. Real-world tests showcase the system’s superior accuracy, with root mean square errors of 2.3 degrees for angle estimation and 0.3 meters (m) for range estimation. Additionally, the estimation errors for multimodal-aided real-time radio SLAM localization and mapping are 0.25 m and 0.8 m, respectively. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Efficient Verification of Stabilizer Code Subspaces with Local Measurements

We address the task of verifying whether a quantum computer, designed to be protected by a specific stabilizer code, correctly encodes the corresponding logical qubits. To achieve this, we develop a general framework for subspace verification and explore several stabilizer code subspaces of practical significance. First, we present two efficient verification strategies for general stabilizer code subspaces, utilizing measurements of their stabilizer generators and stabilizer groups, respectively. Then, building on the observation that certain tests can be conducted in parallel when the subspace exhibits specific structural properties, we propose a coloring strategy tailored to graph code subspaces and an XZ strategy tailored to Calderbank-Shor-Steane (CSS) code subspaces. Compared to stabilizer-based strategies, these new strategies require significantly fewer measurement settings and consume fewer state copies, approaching near-global optimality. Notably, all the strategies employ a limited number of Pauli measurements, are non-adaptive, and work on mixed states, enabling efficient experimental certification of both logical qubits and logical operations in noisy quantum computers.
