In remote or high-demand wireless cellular networks, efficient data collection from ground users (GUs) with fixed infrastructure poses a significant challenge. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as a promising solution due to their flexible deployment and cost-effectiveness. This paper focuses on a UAV-aided wireless cellular communication system comprising a UAV and multiple adjacent GUs, where the mission of the UAV is to collect data from these GUs. The objective is to minimize UAV propulsion energy consumption while ensuring fair data uploading among all GUs. Due to the non-convex and intractable nature of the above problem, we propose a novel real-time waypoint localization method based on the parallel projection method from a geometric perspective. By enhancing the projection process, this approach achieves energy-efficient and fair data collection, along with an efficient trajectory design algorithm. Further, considering the scenario of densely distributed GUs in large-scale areas, a GU-clustering algorithm is proposed based on Mean Shift. Additionally, this paper categorizes GUs into homogeneous and heterogeneous scenarios and designs distinct trajectory designing algorithms to accommodate diverse real-world situations. Simulations and comparisons validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithms in tackling the UAV trajectory design challenges. © 2014 IEEE.

A method of time difference of arrival (TDOA) location for shortwave signal source by four receiving stations is introduced. The precision of time difference and the Geometric Dilution of Precision (GDOP) of TDOA location are analyzed and simulated. The results show that TDOA estimation performance is positively correlated with signal bandwidth, signal cumulative time and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), while TDOA location precision is positively correlated with TDOA estimation precision and distance between the receiving stations. At the same time, the simulation analysis of station arrangement among multiple stations is carried out, and the results show that Y-shaped station mode gets the best location effect.

A color image encryption scheme is proposed, which employs the interferenceless coded aperture correlation holography (I-COACH) system in conjunction with polarization encoding. This method encrypts all three channels of an RGB image into a single ciphertext, effectively reducing the correlation between channels and improving the efficiency of encryption. By leveraging the inherent advantages of the I-COACH system, particularly its high-dimensional signal processing capabilities and incorporation of polarization information, this innovative approach simplifies the encryption process while demonstrating superior performance in terms of encryption feasibility, security, and robustness. Ultimately, it provides an efficient and highly secure means for transmitting color images. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We propose and demonstrate a shape-controlled metagrating with adjustable energy distribution based on shape memory Polymers (SMPs). The design consists of a capacitance printed on the top of the FR4 substrate, SMPs substrate (VeroWhitePlus) in the middle layer, and a metallic ground at the bottom. Using the perfect diffraction theory to design reconfigurable metagratings based on shape memory polymers is. Furthermore, the functionalities of the designed shape-controlled tunable metagrating are investigated by full-wave simulations. Simulation results show that the reconfigurable metagrating can achieve energy bisection of +1, -1 order and the energy trisection of +1, 0, -1 order. And the proposed reconfigurable metagrating is experimentally demonstrated. The design breaks through the limitation that the traditional electrically tunable reconfigurable metagratings need external power supply, and provides a new design idea for the dynamic control of energy distribution of the reconfigurable metagratings.

Transmitting images for communication on social networks has become routine, which is helpful for covert communication. The traditional steganography algorithm is unable to successfully convey secret information since the social network channel will perform lossy operations on images, such as JPEG compression. Previous studies tried to solve this problem by enhancing the robustness or making the cover adapt to the channel processing. In this study, we proposed a robust image steganography method against lossy JPEG compression based on embedding domain selection and adaptive error correction. To improve anti-steganalysis performance, the embedding domain is selected adaptively. To increase robustness and lessen the impact on anti-steganalysis performance, the error correction capacity of the error correction code is adaptively adjusted to eliminate redundancy. We present a quantum thermometry method utilizing a probe-meter system and leveraging reinforcement learning (RL) to enhance sensitivity at low temperatures. Temperature information is exclusively obtained by coupling the probe qubit with the bath, facilitating efficient information extraction by measuring the meter system. Our evaluations, considering both dephasing and dissipative probe-bath couplings, demonstrate a significant enhancement in temperature sensitivity through meter-assisted thermometry, excluding the ultralow-temperature range. To further optimize performance, RL is employed to adjust both the interaction strength between the probe-meter system and the frequency of the meter system. Results showcase that RL effectively enhances temperature sensitivity across a broad low-temperature spectrum by improving average sensitivity within the specified temperature range. This optimization successfully expands the operational range of quantum thermometers. These findings highlight the promising potential of the RL approach for high-resolution, low-temperature quantum thermometry applications.

Colonoscopy has attached great importance to early screening and clinical diagnosis of colon cancer. It remains a challenging task to achieve fine segmentation of polyps. However, existing State-of-the-art models still have limited segmentation ability due to the lack of clear and highly similar boundaries between normal tissue and polyps. To deal with this problem, we propose a region self-attention enhancement network (RSAFormer) with a transformer encoder to capture more robust features. Different from other excellent methods, RSAFormer uniquely employs a dual decoder structure to generate various feature maps. Contrasting with traditional methods that typically employ a single decoder, it offers more flexibility and detail in feature extraction. RSAFormer also introduces a region self-attention enhancement module (RSA) to acquire more accurate feature information and foster a stronger interplay between low-level and high-level features. This module enhances uncertain areas to extract more precise boundary information, these areas being signified by regional context. Extensive experiments were conducted on five prevalent polyp datasets to demonstrate RSAFormer's proficiency. It achieves 92.2% and 83.5% mean Dice on Kvasir and ETIS, respectively, which outperformed most of the state-of-the-art models. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

How Far Should We Look Back to Achieve Effective Real-Time Time-Series Anomaly Detection?

Anomaly detection is the process of identifying unexpected events or abnormalities in data, and it has been applied in many different areas such as system monitoring, fraud detection, healthcare, intrusion detection, etc. Providing real-time, lightweight, and proactive anomaly detection for time series with neither human intervention nor domain knowledge could be highly valuable since it reduces human effort and enables appropriate countermeasures to be undertaken before a disastrous event occurs. To our knowledge, RePAD (Real-time Proactive Anomaly Detection algorithm) is a generic approach with all above-mentioned features. To achieve real-time and lightweight detection, RePAD utilizes Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) to detect whether or not each upcoming data point is anomalous based on short-term historical data points. However, it is unclear that how different amounts of historical data points affect the performance of RePAD. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate the impact of different amounts of historical data on RePAD by introducing a set of performance metrics that cover novel detection accuracy measures, time efficiency, readiness, and resource consumption, etc. Empirical experiments based on real-world time series datasets are conducted to evaluate RePAD in different scenarios, and the experimental results are presented and discussed. With the rapid expansion of wireless networks, the deployment and long-term maintenance of distributed microwave terminals have become increasingly challenging. To address these issues, we present a bio-inspired microwave system to constitute passive and maintenance-free wireless networks. Drawing inspiration from vertebrate skeletons and skins, we employ stimuli-responsive polymer with tunable stiffness to support and protect sensitive electromagnetic structures, and synthesize self-healable skin-like polymer for system encapsulation. Owing to the biomimetic strategy, our system combines outstanding flexibility, electromagnetic stability, structural robustness, and self-healable performance. On the other hand, to address power supply issues, our system modulates ambient electromagnetic waves to achieve long-range wireless communication, and the hybrid energy harvesting strategy allows the system to capture energy from ambient light and microwaves, thereby eliminating the need for batteries or power *** innovation enables our system to be deployed almost anywhere and supports stable,battery-less, and maintenance-free wireless communication.

Visible light communication(VLC)and non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA)have been deemed two promising techniques in the next wireless communication *** this paper,secure communications in the presence of potential eavesdropper are investigated for a multiple-input single-output VLC system with *** artificial noise jamming and beamforming technologies are applied to improve secure performance.A robust resource allocation scheme is proposed to minimize the total transmit power taking into account the constraints on the quality of service requirement of the desired users and the maximum tolerable data rate of the eavesdropper,and the practical imperfect channel state information of both the desired users and the *** formulated non-convex optimization problem is tackled based onS-Procedure and semi-definite programming *** results illustrate that our proposed resource allocation scheme can effectively guarantee communication security and achieve transmit power ***,the height and number of LED can significantly affect system performance and the optimum LED height can be obtained for different LED numbers.
