Due to the broadcast nature of wireless communications, the damage to mobile ad hoc networks is becoming more and more common. We propose a network stability model that can effectively reflect the network performance when the network is damaged in real time. The Ad Hoc network model is built by using the node model supporting the IEEE802.11 standard provided by OPNET software to simulate the network performance of the network under different degrees of damage. This model provides an effective way for the simulation analysis of network performance under the condition of Ad Hoc network damage. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Reference-frame-independent measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (RFI-MDI-QKD) is a novel protocol that eliminates all possible attacks on the detector side and the necessity of reference-frame alignment in source sides. However, its performance may degrade notably due to statistical fluctuations since more parameters, e.g., yields and error rates for mismatched-basis events, must be accumulated to monitor the security. In this work, we find that the original decoy states method estimates these yields overpessimistically since it ignores the potential relations between different bases. Through jointly processing parameters of different bases, the performance of RFI-MDI-QKD is greatly improved in terms of the secret key rate and achievable distance when statistical fluctuations are considered (the statistical fluctuation analysis is the first step to the final analysis of the finite key size effect). Our results pave an avenue towards practical RFI-MDI-QKD.

Deep learning for cooperative radio signal classification

Radio signal classification has a very wide range of applications in cognitive radio networks and electromagnetic spectrum monitoring. In this article, we consider scenarios where multiple nodes in the network participate in cooperative classification. We propose cooperative radio signal classification methods based on deep learning for decision fusion, signal fusion and feature fusion, respectively. We analyze the performance of these methods through simulation experiments. We conclude the article with a discussion of research challenges and open problems. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. This paper presents the summary of the Efficient Face Recognition Competition (EFaR) held at the 2023 International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2023). The competition received 17 submissions from 6 different teams. To drive further development of efficient face recognition models, the submitted solutions are ranked based on a weighted score of the achieved verification accuracies on a diverse set of benchmarks, as well as the deployability given by the number of floating-point operations and model size. The evaluation of submissions is extended to bias, cross-quality, and large-scale recognition benchmarks. Overall, the paper gives an overview of the achieved performance values of the submitted solutions as well as a diverse set of baselines. The submitted solutions use small, efficient network architectures to reduce the computational cost, some solutions apply model quantization. An outlook on possible techniques that are underrepresented in current solutions is given as well.

This article provides a review on X-ray pulsar-based navigation (XNAV). The review starts with the basic concept of XNAV, and briefly introduces the past, present and future projects concerning XNAV. This paper focuses on the advances of the key techniques supporting XNAV, including the navigation pulsar database, the X-ray detection system, and the pulse time of arrival estimation. Moreover, the methods to improve the estimation performance of XNAV are reviewed. Finally, some remarks on the future development of XNAV are provided. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Low Self-Discharge All-Solid-State Electrochromic Asymmetric Supercapacitors at Wide Temperature Toward Efficient Energy Storage

Electrochromic asymmetric supercapacitors (EASs) have attracted tremendous attention in recent years because of their potential for next-generation civilian portable and intelligent electronics. However, obtaining all-solid-state EASs with low self-discharge rates and outstanding environmental compatibility remains a crucial challenge. Herein, a high-performance all-solid-state EAS was fabricated based on MnO2 positive electrochromic electrode and WO3 negative electrochromic electrode. The obtained EAS exhibits high power/energy density (991.2 W kg-1/117 Wh kg-1 and 15840 W kg-1/44.3 Wh kg-1), superior electrochemical cycle-life (remains 98.4% of its initial capacity after 2000 continuous cycles even at 60 °C). Significantly, the fabricated EAS can still maintain a stable and reversible color change even in harsh environments where operating temperatures are constantly changing from -20 °C to 60 °C. In addition, the underlying self-discharge process and mechanisms of EASs were comprehensively demonstrated at various temperatures. At high working temperatures (such as 60 °C), the diffusion-controlled mechanism dominates in the initial discharging process, while at lower operating temperatures (such as -20 °C) both mechanisms nearly contribute equally. Impressively, the EAS presents a small voltage loss (all below 18%) within 10 h when operated at extreme temperatures. This work can enlighten and promote the development of low self-discharge electrochromic devices at widely operating temperatures for efficient energy storage. © 2022, The Authors. Nowadays sensitive data are commonly stored on personal mobile devices (e.g., laptops and smartphones) or public cloud storage platforms. Data on these platforms are commonly protected with strong cryptography like full disk encryption (FDE), and XTS-AES is one of the most widely used encryption algorithms in FDE. Unfortunately, realizing XTS-AES above the block device layer on flash-based block devices is problematic: it neglects the unique nature of the underlying flash memory, which is the most widely employed storage in the mobile devices and cloud infrastructure. As the tweak values of the physical flash pages mapping to the same logical block address are same, thus the system will suffer from the chosen-plaintext attacks due to the out-of-place update of the flash memory. In this paper, we first introduce the concrete attacks for the prior XTS-AES implementation due to neglecting the unique nature of the underlying flash memory, and then propose SecureXTS, a secure XTS-AES implementation method in flash translation layer (FTL). SecureXTS takes advantage of physical page number and block erasure number to generate the tweak value, without introducing additional metadata and hardware extensions. We provide a proof-of-concept SecureXTS implementation using OpenNFM. The experimental results show that, compared with conventional XTS-AES implementations, our SecureXTS can provide secure data encryption functions and data confidentiality with negligible performance overhead. © 2020 IEEE.

The Discrete Event System (DEVS)[1] Specification provides a reference standard for the model design and simulation development of complex discrete event state system. It designs a formal mechanism to describe discrete event state, which is composed of a set of strictly abstract mathematical symbols, and provides a strict description mechanism and execution logic for the modeling and Simulation of discrete event state system, it ensures the normalization, reusability and simulation operation ability of the model. As a special link system, Data Link[2] is different from general communication system. It is mainly used between different military platforms to ensure information sharing. By linking sensors, command and control system and weapon platform according to the specified message format and communication protocol, the information system that can automatically transmit the formatted data of battlefield situation, command and guidance, tactical coordination, weapon control, etc., in real time can form a close and efficient tactical link relationship between different combat platforms. This paper deals with the constrained design of the weighting coefficients to achieve a desired receiving beampattern for wideband sparse phased array. A novel optimization model that minimizes beampattern peak sidelobe level in a space-frequency region of interest (SFRI) along with mainlobe level and weight coefficients quantitative restrictions is proposed. An Alternating Direction Penalty Method (ADPM) formulation to tackle the resultant nonconvex problem is introduced. In each iteration, the original problem is executed via solving multiple tractable subproblems. The simulation results highlight that in comparison with the available approach, the proposed method realizes a deeper nulling in the given space-frequency region capable of rejecting the strong interference.

Cholesky decomposition is a well-known decomposition for positive definite matrix. On account of its significantly fundamental roles in linear algebra and matrix theory, there are a lot of researches and applications based on it. In recent years,solving time-varying problems has been a research hotspot, but Cholesky decomposition of matrix stream（i.e., continuous timevarying matrix） in a simple, direct and effective equation-solving manner remains a challenging issue. In this paper, the problem of Cholesky decomposition of matrix stream is attempted and solved. First, with the aid of Zhang neurodynamics（ZN）, the objective equation at time-derivative level, including the time derivatives of matrix variable and its transpose, is obtained. In order to handle the objective equation with transpose of unknown, Kronecker product, vectorization technique and vectorized transpose matrix are utilized for better derivation. Thus, a ZN solution model using pseudo-inverse is proposed and numerically experimented. Finally, numerical experiment results substantiate the efficacy of the pseudo-inverse type ZN solution model.
