The longitudinal ultrasonic velocity and resistivity of single phase polycrystalline La1/3Sr2/3Fe0.95 Cr0.05O3 sample were measured in the low temperature. The material undergoes charge ordering (CO) transition at about 172 K from the resistivity measurement. The longitudinal ultrasonic velocity dramatically softens below the room temperature and stiffens below Tco. This feature implies extremely strong electron-phonon coupling, which may originates from the Jahn-Teller effect of Fe4+.

CeO2 is one of the candidate materials frequently used for the buffer layer in YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO) coated conductors. MOD method is a low-cost, non-vacuum deposition method which can be easily scale-up to a long length of production. In this paper, we presented the epitaxial growth of CeO2 thin film on cube textured Ni5W substrates by MOD method. The effect of different annealing temperatures and times on the phase formation and orientation of CeO2 thin film was studied. It was found that the as deposited CeO2 film was very homogenous and dense, meanwhile the in-plane orientation of the CeO2 film was improved when compared to that of the Ni5W substrate.

The life cycle inventories for production of raw coal, crude oil and natural gas in China in 2002 were calculated. This involve the consumption of fossil fuels and the emissions during their life cycle. The input include the consumption of raw coal, crude oil and natural gas, and the output include water pollutants, solid wastes and gaseous state pollutants such as CO2, SO2, NOx, CO, CH4 and dust. The inventories would provide reference data for life cycle inventory analysis or the life cycle assessment of the chemical industry and even all of the industries related to materials and their products.

In-situ MgB2/Nb/Cu/stainless steel multilayer composite wire was fabricated by continuous tube forming and filling (CTFF) processes using Mg and B powders doped by SiC. The as-obtained wires were sintered at various temperatures for different time by a conventional vacuum process. The optimized process was found to be 830°C for 15 minutes. The MgB2 core were investigated by the analysis of XRD, SEM and the magnetic Jc measurements. It was shown that the Jc values reach 5.87 × 105 A/cm2 (10 K, 0 T) and 1.06 × 105 A/cm2 (5 K, 3.5 T), respectively.

Cement clinkers and fly ashes produced in different areas of China were examined and leachable hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) was found in all samples. The leaching behavior and leaching mechanism of Cr(VI) in cement mortars and fly ash cement mortars were studied under different leaching conditions, i.e. standard leachability test (shaken extraction test) condition, acidic environment, as well as being carbonated. The results show that the leaching of Cr(VI) is greatly reduced after hydration of cement. However, the leaching of Cr(VI) increases remarkably in acidic environment or when carbonation occurs in cement mortars. The shaken extraction tests of hardened cement pastes and mortars reveal that the majority of the leached Cr(VI) is from cement hydrates, fly ash and unhydrated cement particles, while only a small amount of leached Cr(VI) is from the pore solution.

A new type of NdFeB magnets with high magnetic properties was prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique. Effects of the heat treatment conditions on microstructure, magnetic properties and metallurgical transformations of magnets were systematically studied, by means of SEM, B-H loop-line instrument, and XRD, respectively. It is found that the SPS NdFeB magnets sintered at different temperatures during heat treatment exhibit the same regularity and there exists an optimum temperature of 1050°C. The coercivity of SPS NdFeB magnets increases, owing to the changing of structure and composition of Nd-rich phase during heat treatment. Under optimum processing conditions, the SPS NdFeB magnet possesses the best magnetic properties with a remanence of 1.351 T, a coercive force of 674.4 kA · m-1, and a maximum energy production of 360.4 kJ · m-3.

a-Si:H films were grown by hot filament assisted microwave electron synchrotron resonance chemical vapor deposition. We found that hot filament assistance increases the deposition rate and considerably improves the film stability;and that the deposition rate increase with the increase of the filament temperature and the pressure. In light-induced degradation, infrared absorption spectra were analyzed with baseline fitting and Gaussian data fitting. The results show that while hydrogen content remains unchanged, the relative contents of Si-H and Si-H2 bonding modes changes.

Various factors responsible for light degradation stability of a-Si:H films, grown by hot filament assisted microwave electron synchrotron resonance chemical vapor deposition (MWECR CVD), were analyzed with Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and light degradation curves. The results show that hydrogen content, H-Si bonding modes and hydration movement significantly affect the stability of a-Si material. We found that thin layer of Si crystalline micro-grain grown on a-Si substrate considerably improves the stability.
