Cooperative MIMO Channel Modeling and Multi-Link Spatial Correlation Properties

In this paper, a novel unified channel model framework is proposed for cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless channels. The proposed model framework is generic and adaptable to multiple cooperative MIMO scenarios by simply adjusting key model parameters. Based on the proposed model framework and using a typical cooperative MIMO communication environment as an example, we derive a novel geometry-based stochastic model (GBSM) applicable to multiple wireless propagation scenarios. The proposed GBSM is the first cooperative MIMO channel model that has the ability to investigate the impact of the local scattering density (LSD) on channel characteristics. From the derived GBSM, the corresponding multi-link spatial correlation functions are derived and numerically analyzed in detail.

The opening of data is considered to provide many benefits. However, opening up data by public bodies is a complex and ill-understood activity. Although many public bodies might be willing to open up their data, they lack any systematic guidance. In this paper, guidance is provided by investigating the publishing processes at the Dutch Research and Documentation Centre (WODC), which owns governmental judicial research data. We developed guidance by providing 1) a list of issues that play a role in deciding whether to open data, 2) an alternative to completely publishing data (i.e. restricted access) and 3) solutions for overcoming some of the issues. The latter include dealing with privacy-sensitive data, deletion policies, publishing after embargo periods instead of not publishing at all, adding related documents and adding information about the quality and completeness of datasets. The institutional context should be taken into account when using the guidance, as opening data requires considerable changes of organizations. © 2012 IFIP International Federation for information Processing.

Two-dimensional fuzzy temperature controller was used in the system of inverter air-conditioner to control the room temperature. Self-adjustment PID fuzzy controller was proposed to realize real-time control function. V/F control mode was used to compensate with low voltage, the average sampling algorithm was proposed to implement SPWM waveform modulation. Finally, the feasibility of self-adjustment PID fuzzy controller was verified by simulation, the actual operation results had proved that self-adjustment PID fuzzy controller had reliable, good output waveform and small harmonic wave, which could meet operational requirements of inverter air-conditioner. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) with metamaterial loaded on the ground plane. The metamaterial is composed of an array of Jerusalem cross-shaped PEC structure. Simulation results show that this novel antenna has a bandwidth of 49.4%, which is from 2.56GHz to 4.24GHz. Compared to conventional PIFA, the proposed antenna reduces 91% in size. And the gain reaches more than 3dB over the whole bandwidth. The proposed antenna has a characteristic of backward radiation in the bandwidth. © 2011 IEEE.

Chaos characteristic analysis of the phase-locked loop (PLL) synthesizer has been made in this paper based on the phase model of it, and we conclude the state equation of this model and the condition when the system becomes chaos. Because the parameters of the PLL synthesizer will be changed when the FH radio switch the frequency, the system may turn to be chaos caused by the parameters of it meet the very condition. Some analysis about the transient signals of the frequency-hopping (FH) radio with PLL synthesizer is made in this paper. The fractal dimension of the transient signals is estimated by Cao's method, and the maximal Lyapunov exponent of these signals is positive. The unique double-ring attractor of them is also reproduced through the phase space reconstruction. All the result approve that the output of the FH radio is chaotic when the frequency changing. © 2011 IEEE.

A Tm laser pumped Mid-IR all solid-state laser is reported. A thulium laser is used to directly drive a ZnGeP2 optical parametric oscillator (OPO) with 1.99μm output to generate the 3∼5μm wavelength. Diode pumped Tm:YAP laser operates on 1.99μm, repetition frequency of 10KHz, the optical to optical conversion efficiency is 28%. The all solid-state Mid-IR laser runs at room temperature and achieves over 1W at 3∼5μm with an optical to optical conversion efficiency of 5.4% starting from the pump diode. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, a wideband circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna with capacitively coupled feed is presented. There is a pair of slits and two pairs of truncated corners on the patch. A metallic disk connected to a 50 Ω SMA connector is placed below the patch. Simulation results show that the return loss is below -10dB and the BW is 34.2% from 1.84GHz to 2.60GHz. The CP center frequency is 2.35GHz with a CP BW of 8.51%. Good right-hand CP radiation is observed and the gain is about 8.0dB at 2.35GHz. The only metal of the proposed antenna is aluminum and it has the advantage of easy fabrication and low cost. © 2011 IEEE.

Brain Computer Interface (BCI) provides a direct communication channel from brain to peripheral equipment. Common Spatial Patterns (CSP) is wildly used to extract features for electroencephalogram (EEG). However, basic CSP only suits two-class discrimination and is unable to solve multi-class discrimination problems. This paper proposes a modified CSP method termed Bisearch Common Spatial Patterns (BCSP) to solve a four-class BCI problem. In BCSP, the Fisher's Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) is used to discriminate among the four motor imagery tasks. The BCSP can effectively reduce the number of the basic CSP, and thus makes the overall classification procedure more efficient. The Graz BCI data set from the BCI 2008 competition be used to verify the effectiveness of the BCSP. Simulation results show that BCSP has better performance than other extension schemes. © 2012 Binary information Press January 2012.
