Energy consumption and time delay, i.e., the amount of energy and time consumed by all the nodes for transmitting data, are two critical factors for estimating the efficiency of algorithms in wireless sensor networks. We focus on the application of time-driven data gathering, where all nodes act as sources at the same time to transmit data to an immobile sink node. We propose an efficient algorithm called DGNC for this scenario using inter-session network coding and opportunistic routing. Besides, we theoretically quantify the energy and time delay saving that our algorithm could offer in a rectangular grid network, and demonstrate the fact by simulation results in random networks, which DGNC could offer significant benefits in terms of both energy consumption and time delay in timedriven data gathering.

The importance of incremental learning in changing environments has been acknowledged in recent years. In this paper we present an ensemble learning method for supervised learning with drifting concepts. The method employs hypothesis test as mechanism for detecting concept drift and learns a base classifier for each new training data chunk. Former classifiers deemed as usable by the hypothesis test mechanism and the new classifiers are integrated to form the final classifiers ensemble for prediction. The main focus of the work is to identify the usability of base classifiers that representing the same or similar concept with the current one, make full use of the older valid information together with the newer examples to improve classification accuracy, and avoid the interference of classifiers representing conflictive concepts with the current one. Experiments with simulated concept drift scenarios compared the proposed method with other approaches. The results showed that the method could consistently recognize different types of drift, adapt quickly to these changes to maintain its performance level, and utilize the former knowledge to improve its performance for recurring context.

This paper proposes a method for classification of incomplete data using neural network ensembles. In the method, the incomplete data set is analyzed and projected into a group of complete data subsets that give a full description of the known values in the data set by joining together. Those complete data subsets are then used as the training sets for the neural networks. Base classifiers are selected and integrated according to their classification accuracies and the support degrees of their training data sets to give the final predication. Compared with other methods dealing with missing data in classification, the proposed method can utilize all the information provided by the incomplete data, maintain maximum consistency of the incomplete data set and avoid the dependency on distribution or model assumptions. Experiments on two UCI datasets showed the superiority of the algorithm to other two typical treatments of missing data in ensemble learning.

In this paper, a modified planar balanced Vivaldi antenna with endfire characteristics near the metal surface is proposed for 6-18 GHz applications. The proposed antenna structure consists of three copper layers, among which two external layers locate on the two outsides of two dielectric substrates, and the central layer is sandwiched by these two dielectric substrates. To further enhance the end-fire radiation characteristic, a number of novel techniques are proposed, including elongation and shaping of the supporting substrate of a conventional balanced antipodal Vivaldi antenna beyond its aperture, using an I-shaped slot loaded radiation patch and cutting a triangle on the edge of three copper layers. Measured and simulated results show that the proposed antenna not only exhibits good impedance bandwidth, but also improves the end-fire performance in the operational frequency of 6-10 GHz and achieves high gain in the end-fire direction, low cross-polarization and high front-to-back (F-to-B) ratio.

For the problem of weak target detection under lower signal noise ratio in radar detection system, a key technique is to enhance target echo energy by long time coherent integration. During the integration period, the target echo may occur range migration with integration time increasing. Direct coherent integration will lead to echo energy spread and deteriorate integration effect. A coherent integration algorithm based on short time sliding window is proposed in this paper. Radar signal is formed into a first in first out queue. The queen is continually renewed by the sliding window. The produced queens are coherent integrated at last. Simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm can prevent range migration efficiently and improve coherent integration capability.

The construction method, throughput and related properties about the topology model of emergency communication networks were discussed. Firstly, the topology modeling method was presented by three steps, such as the constructions of backbone network, access network and station network. Then, the capacity of network model was analyzed in conditions of arbitrary networks and random networks. At last, some topology properties were discussed, including the shortest path, node degree, rich club, betweenness centrality, current flow centrality, eccentricity and closeness vitality. The experiment re-sults show that the proposed modeling method is steady and applicable to the emergency communication.
