Transfer learning is a deep learning method. It transforms knowledge in the source domain and feeds it to the target domain to improve the performance of the target domain model. The conditional adversarial domain adaption method is one of a number of transfer learning methods. It uses Resnet as the feature extraction network;however, Resnet can only determine the relationship between local features, and so its feature extraction accuracy is limited. To overcome this problem, a self-attention layer has been designed in order to determine the relationship among all features. This layer is added between the fourth layer and fifth layer of Resnet. Besides, a cross-entropy function is introduced into loss function, and a sigmoid layer is designed and used as the out layer in conditional adversarial domain adaption. These produce gradient disappearance in the deep network, and influence the discriminator training effect. To solve that problem, a least squares function is used as to design the loss function. The new type of loss function does not require the sigmoid function. Using theoretical analysis, we explain how this new loss function can be used to solve the gradient disappearance problem, thus rendering the network structure more stable. We compare our proposed method with other datasets, including Joint Adaptation Networks, adversarial domain adaptation, conditional adversarial domain adaption, Resnet-50, domain-adversarial neural network on imageCLEF-DA, Office-Home, and Office-31. Our simulation results show that the proposed conditional adversarial domain adaption based on self-attention method has the fastest convergence speed and highest accuracy the among different datasets. © 2022, Taiwan Ubiquitous information CO LTD. Quantum process tomography (QPT) is a critical task for characterizing the dynamics of quantum systems and achieving precise quantum control. In this paper, we propose an effective two-stage solution (TSS) for QPT in the natural basis. Our algorithm has O(d 6 ) computational complexity where d is the dimension of the quantum system. We establish an error bound $O\left( {\frac{{{d^5}}}{{\sqrt N }}} \right)$ where N is the copy number for each output state. The numerical examples compared with a convex optimization algorithm demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm.

This paper investigates a fog computing-assisted multi-user simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) network, where multiple sensors with power splitting (PS) receiver architectures receive information and harvest energy from a hybrid access point (HAP), and then process the received data by using local computing mode or fog offloading mode. For such a system, an optimization problem is formulated to minimize the sensors' required energy while guaranteeing their required information transmissions and processing rates by jointly optimizing the multi-user scheduling, the time assignment, the sensors' transmit powers and the PS ratios. Since the problem is a mixed integer programming (MIP) problem and cannot be solved with existing solution methods, we solve it by applying problem decomposition, variable substitutions and theoretical analysis. For a scheduled sensor, the closed-form and semi-closedform solutions to achieve its minimal required energy are derived, and then an efficient multi-user scheduling scheme is presented, which can achieve the suboptimal user scheduling with low computational complexity. Numerical results demonstrate our obtained theoretical results, which show that for each sensor, when it is located close to the HAP or the fog server (FS), the fog offloading mode is the better choice;otherwise, the local computing mode should be selected. The system performances in a frame-by-frame manner are also simulated, which show that using the energy stored in the batteries and that harvested from the signals transmitted by previous scheduled sensors can further decrease the total required energy of the sensors. Graphene with honeycomb structure, being critically important in understanding physics of matter, exhibits exceptionally unusual half-integer quantum Hall effect and unconventional electronic spectrum with quantum relativistic phenomena. Particularly, graphene-like structure can be used for realizing topological insulator which inspires an intrinsic topological protection mechanism with strong immunity for maintaining coherence of quantum information. These various peculiar physics arise from the unique properties of Dirac cones which show high hole degeneracy, massless charge carriers and linear intersection of bands. Experimental observation of Dirac cones conventionally focuses on the energy-momentum space with bulk measurement. Recently, the wave function and band structure have been mapped into the real-space in photonic system, and made flexible control possible. Here, we demonstrate a direct observation of the movement of Dirac cones from single-photon dynamics in photonic graphene under different biaxial strains. Sharing the same spirit of wave-particle nature in quantum mechanics, we identify the movement of Dirac cones by dynamically detecting the edge modes and extracting the diffusing distance of the packets with accumulation and statistics on individual single-particle registrations. Our results of observing movement of Dirac cones from single-photon dynamics, together with the method of direct observation in real space by mapping the band structure defined in momentum space, pave the way to understand a variety of artificial structures in quantum regime. The seedling stage is important in the growth and development of maize, and it is also a critical period that affects maize yield and quality. Accurately recognizing this stage of maize is challenging, as current maize seedling detection methods struggle with small sizes and complex environments. This paper proposes a rapid maize seedling detection method that emphasizes spatial feature extraction in the receptive field and cross-dimensional interaction—receptive field triplet attention YOLO (RFT-YOLO). First, we design a convolutional module for cross-dimensional information interaction within the receptive field. Second, we introduce an advanced selective fusion network, which boosts the multi-scale fusion capability of small object features while reducing the GFLOPs of the model. Additionally, we employ Inner-IoU to diminish sensitivity to positional biases of small objects and expedite the convergence of the loss function. Finally, we create a dataset of maize seedlings to conduct our experiments. Experimental results demonstrate that the RFT-YOLO significantly enhances performance, reducing the number of parameters by 35.3% and GFLOPs by 14.24%, compared to the baseline model. Moreover, the mean average precision (mAP) improves from 89.6% to 91.5%. These improvements confirm the model's effectiveness in detecting maize seedlings.

Modern video streaming services require quality assurance of the presented audiovisual material. Quality assurance mechanisms allow streaming platforms to provide quality levels that are considered sufficient to yield user satisfaction, with the least possible amount of data transferred. A variety of measures and approaches have been developed to control video quality, e.g., by adapting it to network conditions. These include objective matrices of the quality and thresholds identified by means of subjective perceptual judgments. The former group of matrices has recently gained the attention of (multi)media researchers. They call this area of study "Quality of Experience" (QoE). In this paper, we present a review of QoE’s theoretical models together with a discussion of their properties and implications for the field. We argue that most of them represent the bottom-up approach to modeling. Such models focus on describing as many variables as possible, but with a limited ability to investigate the causal relationship between them;therefore, the applicability of the findings in practice is limited. To advance the field, we therefore propose a structural, top-down model of video QoE that describes causal relationships among variables. Anomaly detection from medical images is badly needed for automated diagnosis. For example, medical images obtainedwith several modalities such as magnetic resonance (MR) and confocal microscopy need to be classified for anomaly *** MR images may contain tumors that need to be detected with anomaly detection techniques. In MR imaging, braintumors are represented as areas composed of abnormal cells that need to be detected. In addition, confocal microscopy can be used for retinal imaging. Hence, there is a need to apply classification techniques for diagnosing diseases of the eye such as Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), which leads to exudates in different regions of the retina. The detection of exudates is necessary for the diagnosis of DR. In this paper, two models are presented for the classification of MR and retinal images. Much research has been done in this area, but it did not achieve high accuracy of classification in an acceptable time. In addition, the previous models did not consider both types of image modalities considered in this paper. Generative Diffusion Models (GDMs) have emerged as a transformative force in the realm of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), demonstrating their versatility and efficacy across various applications. The ability to model complex data distributions and generate high-quality samples has made GDMs particularly effective in tasks such as image generation and reinforcement learning. Furthermore, their iterative nature, which involves a series of noise addition and denoising steps, is a powerful and unique approach to learning and generating data. This paper serves as a comprehensive tutorial on applying GDMs in network optimization tasks. We delve into the strengths of GDMs, emphasizing their wide applicability across various domains, such as vision, text, and audio generation. We detail how GDMs can be effectively harnessed to solve complex optimization problems inherent in networks. The paper first provides a basic background of GDMs and their applications in network optimization. This is followed by a series of case studies, showcasing the integration of GDMs with Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), incentive mechanism design, Semantic communications (SemCom), Internet of Vehicles (IoV) networks, etc. These case studies underscore the practicality and efficacy of GDMs in real-world scenarios, offering insights into network design. Low frequency oscillations in the interconnected power systems are observed all around the world. Besides conventional PSS to suppress Low frequency oscillation, there are other modern FACTS devices to damp oscillation, among which flywheel energy storage system (FESS) is a comparative valid way. The theory on restraining low frequency oscillation used by flywheel energy storage system is described through transfer function diagram and complex torque coefficient. A numerical model of flywheel energy storage asynchronous motor controlled by VVVF inverter is derived from its mathematical model in alpha-beta coordinate system. Then the total model eigenvalue is analyzed. Based on analysis, attach control strategy using two parallel independent parts for active power control and reactive power control is designed in FESS to restrain low frequency oscillation. The calculation result shows that flywheel energy storage system is an effective way to restrain low frequency oscillation and enhance power system dynamic performance.

This paper investigates a multiuser millimeter-wave (mmWave) uplink system in which each user is equipped with a multi-antenna fluid antenna system (FAS) while the base station (BS) has multiple fixed-position antennas. Our primary objective is to maximize the system capacity by optimizing the transmit covariance matrices and the antenna position vectors of the users jointly. To gain insights, we start by deriving upper bounds and approximations for the capacity. Then we delve into the capacity maximization problem. Beginning with the simple scenario of a single user equipped with a single-antenna FAS, we demonstrate that a closed-form optimal solution exists when there are only two propagation paths between the user and the BS. In the case where multiple propagation paths are present, a near-optimal solution can also be obtained through a one-dimensional search method. Expanding our focus to multiuser cases, in which users are equipped with either single- or multi-antenna FAS, we show that the original capacity maximization problems can be reformulated into distinct rank-one programmings. Then, we propose alternating optimization algorithms to deal with the transformed problems. Simulation results indicate that FAS can improve the capacity of the multiple access channel (MAC) greatly, and the proposed algorithms outperform all the benchmarks. Copyright © 2023, The Authors.
