A new generation memory, Non-Volatile Memory (NVM), such as Phase-Change Memory (PCM), has been adopted together with DRAM in the main memory to form the hybrid main memory for low energy consumption and high capacity. The biggest challenge of hybrid memory is how to decrease the average memory access cost for the higher cost of NVM's read/write operation. Currently, most researches are based on migration. However, the page migration itself is a high cost operation. And the migration based policy produces many migration operations, which induces high cost in memory access. Therefore, in order to decrease the cost, we present a virtual page behavior based page management policy (VBPM) in this paper. According to the virtual pages' behavior, we allocate virtual pages into DRAM or PCM physical pages correspondingly. The whole process is migration independent. The experimental results show our VBPM decreases the average memory access time by 24%, moreover, VBPM improves real-time performance in critical path. © 2016 IEEE.

The view growth pattern of user generated videos on YouTube

With the rapid development of social media, video sharing sites like YouTube are getting more and more attention. Discovering the view growth pattern have become interesting topics for researchers as well as advertisers, media companies. In this paper, we analyze two aspects about video view growth pattern of YouTube videos. Firstly, the pattern of aggregated view is studied. It is found that the aggregated view rate peaks in the first few days, and falls quickly in the following days, and then decrease slowly during the consecutive weeks. Finally, the view rate tends to be a constant on the long run. The aggregated view count after a period of two months can be fitted with a linear line. Secondly, the view growth pattern of individual video is explored. The results indicate that the majority of videos peak at the very beginning of videos’ lifetime, and the category of view sources causes the peak is different. The view count of individual video and the view count from each source item also stabilize after a period of two months, and we finally show the referring time and active period of each source item. © 2016 SERSC.

A novel scheme based on neural networks for optimizing semantic similarity measure is proposed in this study. This scheme is investigated by using three representative neural networks, i.e., the Back Propagation (BP) neural networks optimized by Genetic Algorithm (GA), the BP neural networks optimized by the Mind Evolutionary Algorithm (MEA), and the generalized regression neural network (GRNN). The performance of our proposed scheme is examined on the problem of semantic similarity measure for Special Crop. To this end, the Special Crops domain ontology is established and a set of factors having major influence on semantic similarity measure for neural networks training process is identified. Extensive experiments and comparison demonstrate that optimizing semantic similarity measure based on neural network is both feasible and effective. The promising experimental results also suggest that the method based on the generalized regression neural network performs the best. © 2016 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.

Microservices is a flexible architectural style that has many advantages over the alternative monolithic style. These include better performance and scalability. It is particularly suitable, and widely adopted, for cloud-based applications, because in this architecture a software system consisting of a large suite of services of fine granularity, each running its own process and communicating with the others. However, programming such systems is more complex. In this paper we report on CIDE, an integrated software development environment that helps with this. CIDE supports programming in a novel agent-oriented language called CAOPLE and tests their execution in a cluster environment. We present the architecture of CIDE, discuss its design based on the principles of the DevOps software development methodology, and describe facilities that support continuous testing and seamless integration, two other advantages of Microservices.

This paper presents our preliminary geoacoustic inversion results of the ship noise data collected by a vector sensor in 2008, Dalian, China. For the at-sea measurement, a fishing boat was served as a passive source passed by the receiver boat deploying a vector sensor, which collected the pressure field and particle velocity components at three orthogonal directions of X, Y and Z. A batch inversion scheme is adapted to optimize a Bartlett type cost function that comprises the range-dependent sound propagation features. The results from the pressure, vertical particle velocity component and the combination of them are presented, which suggests the combination processing can provide better inversion results.

The regular striations exhibited in broadband noise spectrogram due to a moving ship have been exploited for inverse problems in underwater acoustics, e.g., sediment geoacoustic characterization and source ranging. The enhancement of the underlying interference structure for striation extraction has been a hot topic for relative applications. In this paper, a straightforward method based on the low-frequency sound propagation characteristics is proposed to strengthen the main striation features. This method intuitively enhances the striation pattern by smoothing the resultant spectrogram along range (time) for each frequency bin. The method is applied to the ship noise data collected in 2008, Dalian, and then filtered by a multi-scale line filter, which demonstrate can greatly improve the quality of extracted striations than that of raw data. A hough transformation technique is applied to reconstruct the striation segment to estimate precise geometrical information that can be used for source range estimation.

Internet traffic classification is one of the key foundations for research works and traffic engineering in Internet. With the rapid increase of Internet applications and the number of Internet flow, the technique challenges are coupled with development of traffic classification all the time. Currently, the machine learning-based technique has attracted much attention, since it can address the issues that the usage of the dynamic port numbers and the encryption technique at the transport layer in traffic. As we have known, feature selection is one of the key problems in machine learning. In this paper, in order to improve the efficiency of feature selection in dealing with large scale traffic data problem, especially to imbalance classification problem that occur in traffic classification, a Min-Max Ensemble Feature Selection (M2-EFS) is proposed to deal with traffic data, which based on balanced data partition and min-max ensemble strategy. The experimental results demonstrate that the M2-EFS can obtain higher performance in most cases, and it could efficiently deal with imbalanced problems.

Matching precision is very important and difficult in accurate photography, remote sensing and 3D reconstruction. After analyzing the advantages and shortcomings of current matching algorithms and the epipolar geometry, a new matching algorithm based on global viewpoint difference rectification for framework imagery is devised. Without the aid of orientation parameters, this algorithm contains three parts, the scale rectification for an overall comfortable of the image, the viewport rectification for compensating the bias between the vertical plane of the primary optical axis and the main plane of the scene, and the consistent transformation of two images with different viewports. Following, the details of the implementation of our methods are also given. The validation experiments of the matching precision show that, the new algorithm can improve the precision dramatically, which is better than many other good matching algorithms. © 2015 IEEE.

Countermeasure against cooperative jamming is one of the important subjects in the field of electronic countercountermeasures(ECCM). In the cooperative jamming, the spatial position of each jammer is different, the jamming mode used by each jammer may be diverse, and the traditional antijamming methods are difficult to be effective. Therefore, how to suppress the jamming in different directions from different jammers is the key to solve the problem of cooperative jamming. In view of this situation, an ECCM scheme against dual-jammer cooperative jamming based on multi-channel cancellation is proposed in this paper, which uses the spatial degree of freedom of multi-channel synthetic aperture radar(SAR). This antijamming method is available for different active jamming forms, and has less computation. Theoretical analysis and simulation results verify that the proposed method can effectively counter dual-jammer cooperative jamming.
