Dynamic RCS Simulation Using Active Frequency Selective Surface

In the experimental test of the radar system, it is extremely important to build a realistic experimental environment for electromagnetic target testing, which is often realised by the radar target simulation technology. Corner reflectors often simulate radar RCS features by the spatial arrangement;however, their electromagnetic characteristics are solidified and the RCS features differ from those of real targets. This paper proposes a target RCS simulation method based on AFSS echo power modulation. The core idea is to use AFSS reflection modulation to dynamically regulate the target power information to achieve flexible and fast control of the target radar RCS characteristics. Based on the AFSS echo power modulation model, the theoretical relationship between the modulation parameters and the RCS value is deduced, and the duty cycle of the scattering state control signal is used as an adjustable variable to realise the simulation of the dynamic RCS sequence of the mid-range target. The RCS simulation experiment is carried out based on the target measured data, and the simulation effect is analysed in terms of statistical characteristics and similarity coefficients. The simulation results show that the statistical characteristics of the simulated RCS sequence and the target RCS sequence are very close to each other with the mean value and standard deviation within 1 dBsm and the extreme value and extreme deviation within 3 dBsm. The method is of great significance in the field of radar system tests and electronic protection. © 2025 The Author(s). Small satellites are increasingly attracting the attention of the industry for its many aspects of advantages. We proposed a communication subsystem for commercial remote sensing satellite. The interface between the communication system and other modules on the satellite and the communication protocol are briefly introduced. In order to make sure that the satellite-to-ground link is reliable, we calculate the link budget at 471 MHz for LEO small satellite. Additionally, the transmission power and reception sensitivity is 17 dBm and −123 dBm respectively. The result shows that the proposed subsystem is reliable in RF performance and can be used in other commercial satellite in the future.

Incorporating the depth (D) information for RGB images has proven the effectiveness and robustness in semantic segmentation. However, the fusion between them is still a challenge due to their meaning discrepancy, in which RGB represents the color but D depth information. In this paper, we propose a co-attention Network (CANet) to capture the fine-grained interplay between RGB’ and D’ features. The key part in our CANet is co-attention fusion part. It includes three modules. At first, the position and channel co-attention fusion modules adaptively fuse color and depth features in spatial and channel dimension. Finally, a final fusion module integrates the outputs of the two co-attention fusion modules for forming a more representative feature. Our extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of CANet in fusing RGB and D features, achieving the state-of-the-art performance on two challenging RGB-D semantic segmentation datasets, i.e., NYUDv2, SUN-RGBD. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Modeling of scattering characteristics between ground/offing targets and environment is one of the necessary conditions to realize the internal field reconstruction of complex electromagnetic scenes. According to the high-frequency approximation assumption of electromagnetic scattering localization, the coupling scattering electromagnetic modeling method of composite targets and ground/offing scenes is studied in the framework of the bouncing ray method. Based on the curvature adaptive bin separation algorithm and the principle of multi-scale coherent superposition, an integrated scattering modeling method for multi-scale targets and complex environments is developed. The scattering of typical ship target, background and the coupling scattering between ground/offing artificial targets and environment are calculated respectively. Theoretical analysis and simulation result show the correctness and effectiveness of the algorithm. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Evaluating and predicting rapidly and accurately a high sensitivity receiver's adaptability in complex electromagnetic environments is a tough job. To solve this problem, a novel testing and prediction method based on dual-channel multi-frequency is proposed to improve the traditional two-tone test. An experiment performed on a radar receiver confirms the reliability of the method proposed in this paper. It shows that the interference of each harmonic frequency and each order to the receiver can be identified and predicted with the sensitivity model. Based on this, fast and comprehensive evaluation and prediction of the receiver's electromagnetic susceptibility in complex environment can be efficiently realized.

A Many-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm Assisted by Ideal Hyperplane

In many-objective optimization problems (MaOPs), it is a difficult task for evolutionary algorithms to balance convergence and diversity while rapidly converging to the Pareto front. As the number of objectives increases, the difficulty of evolutionary algorithms increases with individual selection pressure. To address above problems, we propose a many-objective evolution algorithm assisted by an ideal hyperplane (MaOEA-IH). Firstly, the ideal hyperplane as a reference surface to guide the individual to search the Pareto front, which is established from the extremum of each dimension of the objective space. Secondly, a parallel p -norm mating selection strategy is proposed to improve convergence. In addition, two factors are considered in this strategy: 1) different p -norm are used to measure different spatial scales;2) individual selection uncertainty is defined by incorporating a probabilistic perturbation mechanism. Thirdly, the improved shift-based density estimation strategy is used as the evaluation criterion for environmental selection to improve the convergence and diversity of solution sets and enhance selection pressure. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, MAOEA-IH is compared with seven excellent algorithms in three benchmark sets (DTLZ, WFG and MaF). The results show that the proposed MAOEA-IH is highly competitive in solving MaOPs. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper addresses the problem of maneuvering multi-target tracking by a network of sensors having different and limited fields of view (FoV s). Each local sensor runs the Gaussian Mixture Probability Hypothetical Density (GMPHD) filter. Due to the target maneuver, based on a single motion model, severe tracking performance degradation can be observed. We propose to use multi-model (MM) method to realize the adaptation to motion characteristic so as to overcome maneuverability of targets. Then considering FoV s of sensors in the network are different and limited, the standard weighted arithmetic average (WAA) fusion is no longer applicable and leads to an underestimation of the target number. Therefore, we use state-dependent WAA (SD-WAA) fusion rule, which performs the WAA in a more robust way by calculating a set of state-related fusion weights. Numerical experiment is designed to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.

Three-Dimensional Trajectory Reconstruction of Moving Target With L-Antenna in Airborne WasSAR-GMTI

Wide-angle staring synthetic aperture radar ground moving target indication (WasSAR-GMTI) has been widely recognized for its long-term observation capabilities of fixed areas and its achievement in moving target tracking. Recently, the research on moving target trajectory reconstruction has also raised interest. The neglect of height-dimensional information, however, makes it difficult to apply in the scene with terrain undulation. In this article, a 3-D trajectory reconstruction method with L-antenna, which combines interferometry SAR (InSAR) and GMTI technique, is proposed. Meanwhile, it is the first time that L-antenna is applied in the 3-D geolocation of a moving target. First, the echo is segmented into several subapertures, and the lever arm compensation and back projection (BP) imaging are required to register the multichannel images. Second, the along-track multichannel is processed, which contains clutter rejection and radial velocity estimation. Third, the cross-track interferometric phase extraction is proposed, and the 3-D geolocation of a moving target is estimated. Apart from extracting height-dimensional information from the interferometric phase directly, a method based on the digital elevation model (DEM) is also proposed. A comparison of the two methods is given in this article. The processing results of real data have confirmed the efficacy and practicality of the proposed algorithm.

Aiming at the fusion problem of multi-source heterogeneous dynamic data sources, based on the subjective and objective comprehensive weighting idea, an efficient multi-source dynamic data fusion algorithm is proposed. First, the outlier detection method based on linear regression model is used to preprocess the multi-source dynamic time series data. Then, determine the weight of the dynamic data. The prior weight of the data source is determined by the AHP method, cyclic scoring method, etc., and the posterior weight is determined according to the similarity between the time series data. Based on the Euclidean distance, a similarity measure between different data sources and a similarity measure between different dynamic data samples are constructed respectively. The former is used for the fusion of dynamic data standard deviation expectations, and the latter is used for the fusion of mean expectations. Finally, the comprehensive weight of each dynamic time series of each data source is obtained, and the comprehensive weighted fusion method is used to obtain the expected value and standard deviation of the dynamic response. The analysis of the calculation example shows that the proposed algorithm has higher computational efficiency than the method that treats dynamic data as several discrete static data.

Point cloud preprocessing is still a challenging task in the marine environment, for it is difficult to filter out non-obstacle points while avoiding damage to the obstacle completeness. In this paper, we propose a novel data preprocessing method on 3D LiDAR data for the unmanned surface vehicle in the marine environment. It consists of two tasks: outlier removal and wake filtering. As the spatial resolution of LiDAR changes with distance, we exploit distance normalization on statistical outlier filter for robust outlier removal. Considering the gradient difference between wave wake and obstacle surface near the water, we define and calculate the vertical state of point cloud on the range image to obtain the pre-filtering point set, and then use the RANSAC method to filter out the wake points. Experiments on real data has demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm both in terms of feasibility and accuracy. © 2020 IEEE.
