The transmission characteristics of electromagnetic wave in the parallel planar waveguide system filled with zero index metamaterials, in which embedded with dielectric rings, is improved based on the general theoretical analysis. We conceive that higher-order modes can be produced in the dielectric rings under the isotropic medium of zero index metamaterials, and also analyze the condition of producing high order modes and the resonance characteristics for several of the whispering gallery mode (WGM). The theoretical results are simulated by COMSOL and its correctness is verified. The conclusion of this paper has important application value in the manipulation of electromagnetic waves, power allocation and sensing, so on.

Distributed animation rendering systems are used to speed up of rendering i.e the computational-intensive phase of producing animation. How to develop softwares with high availability and efficiency is a hot topic in distributed animation rendering systems. In this paper, based on model checking method for system modeling, three modules(i.e. rendering management server, rendering nodes and storage system) are modeled and analyzed. Firstly, by analyzing the system's typical infrastructure, messages-driven finite state machines of such three modules are studied. Then, the properties of such three modules are described using CTL(Computational Tree Logic). Furthermore, safety and livenesses are verified with SMV(Symbolic Model Verification). The methodology of this paper offers important theoretical guide to software development.

By taking into account the hits-density imaging technique that has been introduced by authors' previous publications, the acoustic emission bursts emitted from the automatic-gauge-control hydraulic cylinder under normal loading and early-stage vibration were investigated. First, six acoustic emission descriptors that showed significance regarding the cumulative probability distribution were visualised, followed by the reconstruction of the hits-density images using these features;Through the visual examination of the hits-density images regarding the cylinders' normal loading and early-stage vibration, apparent visual differences between normal and early-stage vibration under the same loading can be observed;By projecting the hits-density images onto the principal component space, a trajectory which represents the condition developments was observed, which shows a visual-based resolution for dealing with vast transient bursts data reduction,reconstruction and visualisation.

In this paper, we present a new framework for large scale online kernel learning, making kernel methods efficient and scalable for large-scale online learning applications. Unlike the regular budget online kernel learning scheme that usually uses some budget maintenance strategies to bound the number of support vectors, our framework explores a completely different approach of kernel functional approximation techniques to make the subsequent online learning task efficient and scalable. Specifically, we present two different online kernel machine learning algorithms: (i) Fourier Online Gradient Descent (FOGD) algorithm that applies the random Fourier features for approximating kernel functions; and (ii) Nyström Online Gradient Descent (NOGD) algorithm that applies the Nyström method to approximate large kernel matrices. We explore these two approaches to tackle three online learning tasks: binary classification, multi-class classification, and regression. The encouraging results of our experiments on large-scale datasets validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithms, making them potentially more practical than the family of existing budget online kernel learning approaches.

The examples of HMCP are cell phones, cars, etc. The basic feature with this kind of product is that human operation is essential. The existing design theory and methodology seems to be mostly for functional products such as engine. There is a rich set of knowledge for ergonomics design but it is mostly about how easy for the human operator to operate directly or monitor the product. For HMCPs, there is not only the issue of how easy to operate or monitor but also the issue of how the human operates. This paper presents a study to extend the existing design theory called Axiomatic Design Theory (ADT) to guide the design of HMCP. The hand control unit for colonoscopy technology was used to assist in the development in this study.
