Bat algorithm (BA) is a novel intelligent optimization algorithm. In order to improve the poor local search capability of the algorithm, we present a new variant of bat optimization algorithm based on local centroid strategy (LCBA). Meanwhile, LEACH is a low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy algorithm for wireless sensor networks (WSN). And it has many disadvantages such as random selection of cluster head, taking no account of the remaining energy and position of nodes. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an improved LEACH protocol based on local centroid bat algorithm. The improved protocol divides the cluster head selection process into optimization of temporary cluster head and formal cluster head selection. First, we generate temporary cluster heads by traditional LEACH protocol, then optimize these cluster heads based on LCBA and select formal cluster heads according to the remaining energy of nodes. The result of experiment shows that, comparing with LEACH, LEACH-LCBA can balance the network load efficiently, improve the energy utilization, prolong the network lifetime.

A new torso design of humanoid robot is proposed as a 3-DOF PKM (Parallel Kinematic Manipulator) structure by using results of a biomimetic analysis of torso in humans and animals. Main characteristics of torso in nature are presented from which design requirements are outlined for a solution in humanoid robot. The PKM torso is consist of two platforms and four UPU mechanisms. Artificial plant optimization algorithm is a novel stochastic population-based evolutionary algorithm by simulating the plant growing process. A novel pursuing algorithm, together with a new experiment method, is introduced to drive a nonholonomic mobile robot tracking a dynamic target in the framework of pursuit-evasion game. Specifically, a pan-tilt with an on-board camera is attached to the mobile robot to construct a tracking system, which greatly improves the maneuverability compared with the traditional method. To keep the target close enough to the vision center of the camera, a control technique is devised according to its kinematic model and Lyapunov theory. By utilizing game theory, the viability set is determined. A tracking controller is employed to guarantee persistent tracking for the dynamic target, where the relative position between the target and the robot is successfully acquired from the visual measurements by the utilization of geometric analysis. Both simulation and experimental results are provided to illustrate the performance of the controller.

The availability of new technologies in the areas of digital electronics, communications, internet, and computer technologies opens a door to build a smart grid, which can increase significantly the capacity, services and intelligence of power systems. This paper proposes a power distribution network management cloud platform based on Tekla Xpower. Proposed system can support the implementation of current power grid and/or the coming smart grid. Utilizing the existing computing and storage installations, cloud platform can integrate the existing resources to improve the computation and storage capacities, the data security of the entire system, and can increase application intelligence, service quality and decision-making capability as well. The four layer architecture of cloud platform is designed, and a pilot case study for DMS is provided.

Smart grid has been widely acknowledged around the world. The rapid development of complex network theory provides a new perception into the research of smart grid. Based on the latest progress in the field of complex network theory, smart grid can be treated as small world networks. This paper examines the tolerance of smart grid against attacks to analyze its vulnerability, and proposes a technique to study the relationship between the electric betweenness and the reliability of smart grid. Based on these researches, the specific concept of vulnerability investigation to indicate smart grid is clarified. Furthermore, the proposed method will be investigated by an IEEE test system in contrast with the result from actual concept in power grid to indicate its effectiveness.

Self-triggered control is a technique which can determine the next sampling instant by virtue of the last sampling information. Combining this technique and the low-gain feedback one, we investigate the consensus tracking of general linear multi-agent systems with input saturation and updating delays in this paper. Specific formulations of heterogenous updating delays and heterogenous sampling periods are acquired to guarantee the semi-global consensus tracking of multi-agent systems. Numerical simulations are provided to verify the main results.
