This paper addresses the distributed localization problem for a network of sensors placed in a three-dimensional space, in which sensors are able to perform range measurements, i.e., measure the relative distance between them, and exchange information on a network structure. First, we derive a necessary and sufficient condition for node localizability using barycentric coordinates. Then, building on this theoretical result, we design a distributed localizability verification algorithm, in which we propose and employ a novel distributed finite-time algorithm for sum consensus. Finally, we develop a distributed localization algorithm based on conjugate gradient method, and we derive a theoretical guarantee on its performance, which ensures finite-time convergence to the exact position for all localizable nodes. The efficiency of our algorithm compared to the existing ones from the state-of-the-art literature is further demonstrated through numerical simulations. © 2023, CC BY.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a nonlinear signal that reflects the physio-logical state of the brain at different times, containing rich information. However, the possible interference during the collection and transmission process often leads to a large amount of unnecessary noise in the EEG signal. Traditional denoising methods may face difficulties in high-dimensional data processing and the inability to effectively handle different types of Gaussian white noise. To better eliminate the interference of Gaussian white noise, this article specifically adopts the Hierarchical Rauch-Tung-Striebel Smoother (HRTS) method. This method can effectively integrate the learned structural prior EEG signals into the state space model, thereby describing the relationship between EEG signals and noise. Capture the spatiotemporal characteristics of EEG signals through hierarchical modeling, and optimize the components of EEG signals through estimation and prediction of hidden variables. Finally, the mean square error (MSE) is used as an evaluation indicator to compare and evaluate the denoising results. Empirical research has shown that the HRTS algorithm can not only effectively reduce runtime and better process high-dimensional data, but also significantly improve the quality of EEG signals, effectively suppress noise interference, and more accurately reflect the characteristics of brain activity. Compared to denoising algorithms such as Kalman filtering and Kalman wavelet filtering, the HRTS algorithm has more advantages in denoising EEG signals. © 2024, J. Network Intell. In this paper, we will propose a super wide bandwidth low frequency antenna with a compact size for HF, VHF and UHF applications. The developed low frequency antenna consists of coplanar guide feeding structure, sleeve-like structure with lumped elements, reactance loading in the feeding. The antenna is investigated and evaluated in the HFSS, and the simulation results shows that the proposed antenna has a very wide fractional bandwidth of 191.9% from 10 MHz to 481 MHz for supporting the HF, VHF, UHF and P-band detection system applications in various platform like aircraft, ship and vehicles. © 2020 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a hybrid algorithm that combines an improved Artificial Potential Field (APF) method with the Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm for path planning of an electric power operation robot manipulator in complex distribution grid environments. To address the unreachable target issue inherent in traditional APF, we introduce a distance regulation factor to optimize the repulsive function. This modification allows the manipulator to smoothly approach the target point as it nears, while the repulsion from obstacles gradually decreases. Additionally, to overcome the limitations of the traditional SA algorithm, such as its tendency to get trapped in local minimum solutions and its inefficiency in complex environments, we propose an adaptive temperature rise strategy. This strategy increases the temperature, enhancing the probability of escaping local optimal solutions. When the APF algorithm becomes trapped in a local optimum, the improved SA algorithm is applied to escape the local minimum. Once the local optimum is avoided, the algorithm switches back to APF to continue the path planning process. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed improved APF-SA algorithm adapts effectively to various complex environments, achieving shorter planning times and higher success rates compared to traditional APF and SA algorithms. It successfully resolves the unreachable target and local minimum problems associated with APF. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed APF-SA fusion algorithm is validated through experiments conducted on an electric power operation robot experimental platform for distribution grid applications.

Hand paralysis caused by stroke, spinal cord injury, or neurological trauma has a significant impact on the independence and quality of life of the patients. The hand exoskeleton can provide hand assistance and improve the patient’s grasp. In this article, a novel wearable flexible hand exoskeleton is proposed to assist users in activities of daily life. To create a simple and lightweight assistive hand exoskeleton, 3D printing is used to manufacture most of the components, and a remote drive system is designed to reduce the weight of the hand exoskeleton. A ball pair device and a slider device are used to ensure the freedom of the thumb and the adaptability of the hand exoskeleton to different hand sizes. Finally, the experiments are conducted to verify that the hand exoskeleton can achieve motion assistance.

Imagined speech production with electrocorticography (ECoG) plays a crucial role in brain-computer interface system. A challenging issue is the great variation underlying the frequency bands of the ECoG signals’ encode information, which makes current methods difficult to generate imagined speech with stable quality among different persons. To this end, we propose a robust model to generate high-quality imagined speech from ECoG. A frequency enhancement branch is first designed to adaptively modulate the frequency information, whose product is fed into the following multi-scale channel attention module for robust feature extraction and fusion. By incorporating both the mel-spectrum and audio as training constraints, a multi-constraint decoder branch is finally constructed for imagined speech production. The performance of our model is evaluated on a high-quality dateset, i.e, Single Word Production Dutch-iBIDS. It yields Pearson correlation scores that are all above 0.8, and the standard deviationsare are all below 0.2 in different volunteers. Experimental results demonstrate that our model is effective and robust for ECoG based imagined speech production, and has advantages over peer methods.

Constructing photocatalysts with efficient light-harvesting abilities and charge separation properties is highly promising but still challenging for boosting photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from water. Herein, we report a simple and general polarization strategy through substituent regulation such as fluorination, chlorination and cyanation, to promote the photon capture and charge separation and unveil the latent structure–property–activity relationship in pyrene-based conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs). Notably, the introduction of fluorine, chlorine and cyano substituents onto the well-known full donor pyrene-benzene-based CMP network (Py-B) could induce a strong dipole along C–F/–Cl/–CN bonds and the backbone local polarization enhancement due to their strong electron-withdrawing ability, which afforded CMPs have a variety of superior effects such as narrowing band gaps, expanding optical absorption, improving interfacial wettability and solid-state morphology, and promoting charge separation inside organic photocatalysts. As a result, 1.73/2.50/4.69-fold increases of the hydrogen evolution rates of the –F/–Cl/–CN modified CMPs under visible light (λ > 420 nm) irradiation without Pt co-catalysts can be obtained in comparison with the counterpart Py-B (28.5/41.3/77.4 mmol g−1 h−1 vs 16.5 mmol g−1 h−1). Impressively, we find that the photocatalytic performance of this series of photocatalysts is linearly related to the dipole moment of polymers. Our studies reveal that the backbone local polarization enhancement induced by the substituent regulation could achieve high-performance organic photocatalysts toward solar-to-chemical energy conversion. © 2023, The Authors. Environmental selection is an important process in multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs). As the evolution progresses, the number of non-dominated solutions increases. This paper is focused on selecting a subset from excess non-dominated solutions for evolutionary or the final output. However, traditional selection methods in classical MOEAs encounter difficulties when dealing with candidate solutions that possess irregular topologies. Although the distance-based subset selection methods are not sensitive to the topologies of the candidate points, they have significant room for reducing computational complexity. In order to address the above issues, a subspace selection method is proposed in this paper. It partitions the objective space into multiple subspaces that have comparable volumes and shapes. The maximal minimum distance of each solution is considered to ensure that the sparsest solution is always chosen first. To save computational costs, only the solutions in the neighboring subspaces are taken into account. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed subspace selection method outperforms classical selection methods in solving problems with various shapes of the Pareto front.

PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are a type of small non-coding RNAs which bind with the PIWI proteins to exert biological effects in various regulatory mechanisms. A growing amount of evidence reveals that exosomal piRNAs are potential biomarkers for diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases. Effective methods for the prediction of exosomal piRNAs are the foundation of piRNA functional research. In this study, we propose an end-to-end deep network for identifying exosomal piRNAs based on features learned from natural language processing (NLP) models for sequence embedding with attention mechanism. First, a benchmark dataset is constructed by processing piRNA subcellular localization annotated data and sequence data. Moreover, bagging positive unlabeled learning is applied to get the reliable negative set. Finally, we treat a piRNA sequence as a sentence and its k-mer subsequence as a token. Sequence embedding models with self-attention mechanism is designed to extract features from exosome piRNA sequences, which are used for the prediction task. Compared with three competing methods, our model achieves the best performance and reveals the key factors of exosomal piRNA sequences by the attention mechanism. Our model characterizes exosomal piRNAs and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate exosomal piRNAs’ functions.
